Charlotte Brunson Mission Group Meets
The Charlotte Brunson Adult Women’s WMU Group met on Weds. Dec 2, for a regular meeting.
President Janie Sims presided. Prayer Leader Faye Hayes presented devotional thoughts based on
Colossians 3:12-17. The names of all Southern Baptist Missionaries - both North Americans and International having birthdays on Dec. 2 were read aloud. Faye then prayed for these Missionaries and other needs.
The Lottie Moon Christmas offering for International Missions was discussed, and the group gave a donation.
(The church’s goal is $5,000.00.)
Larry Quick and Sarah Williams the group’s assigned shut-ins, will be remembered with Christmas gifts.
Clara Strickland presented the program based on articles in the Missions Mosaic magazine. Nov. 29 - Dec. 6
(8 days) was our Week of Prayer for International Missionaries. The 2 Missionaries emphasized were Mark
Harrison, from Old Town Baptist Church, Winston - Salem, who leads several groups a year from his church to a
very isolated area in Southeast Asia to work with the “T” people and an unidentified missionary who ministers to
Syrian and Iraq refugees along the Syrian border. He gives out bags of food and other critical necessities in a very
dangerous place.
Cards will continue to be sent.
Debra Yates volunteered to present the January 6, 2016 program. The group invites all women (young and
old) to visit and/or join our group. For additional information, call Janie Sims.
L.O.V.E. CLUB ENJOYS DEC. MEETING
The L.O.V.E. Club met Weds., Dec. 16, in the gym for the regular monthly meeting. Approximately 18
members and guests enjoyed the Christian Academy students present their program, The 12 Days of Christmas.
As usual, the students did an excellent job and the stage props were well done. The L.O.V.E. Club thanks the
school for providing Dec. programs each year.
Monetary gifts and words of thanks were given to Pat Freeman and Kelsie Walker who have provided free
delicious lunches for club members at each monthly meeting all year.
The club collected a Going - Away gift for Wanda Watts who is leaving her employment as our Secretary and
“Finance” person. Twenty-five dollars will be given to the Hamlet Schools’ Back - Pack program which provides
free weekend meals for students in need. The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering will receive a donation.
There was some discussion regarding ideas for programs and travel in 2016.
Annie Grace Turnage, the Club’s shut-in, will receive a Christmas gift. She is in Pruitt Nursing Center in
Rockingham.
The January 2016 program will be Terry Mercer speaking on line dancing.
Chair volleyball will resume in January.
President Debra Yates gave each attendee a hand made gift (as she has done monthly all year).
Please mark your calendar for the 2nd Weds. In Jan., 10:30 AM, for the LOVE CLUB Meeting in the choir
practice room.

as I’ve served the Lord in Hawaii and you took such sweet
care of my darling Grandmother Charlotte in her final years.
You hold a special place in my heart and I’m very thankful for
you. In January I’m moving to D.C. to serve God through
humanitarian aid work around the world. I am excited about
this new endeavor and appreciate your prayers.

Dear Second Baptist Church,
We want to thank everyone who was involved in
this years Appalachian Backpack Christmas
Outreach. Through your help we were able to send
390 backpacks from our association to the children. I
hope that the children who receives these will know that
someone loves and cares for them but that our Lord and
Savior loves and cares for them even more and through
this endeavor they will invite Him into their lives.
As we share the love of Jesus through gifts and many acts of kindness this season I ask that we all pause
to remember that the most precious gift ever given was sent to earth for all peoples of the world. May we truly
worship and adore Him as we celebrate with family and friends.
Thank you again for all you do and may God continue to bless you and your church as you strive to carry
out the Great Commission.

Line Dancing Classes
Beth Moore’s Study of Daniel
Beginning January 14, 2016,
the Love Club is sponsoring
a Line Dancing Class at
3:00 pm in the gym. These
classes will be held every
2nd and 4th Thursday of
each month. Classes will be
taught by Terry Mercer.
Join Beth Moore in a faith building study of Prophecy
and learn how to live with integrity in today’s self
absorbed society.
The prophet Daniel faced
unbelievable pressures to compromise his faith, to live in
a hostile culture, and to confront temptations and
threats. Today, believers in Jesus Christ face many of
the same trials.
This is a 12 week course beginning on Sunday,
Come join us for some time of fun and let’s get moving January 10th and will meet in the Fellowship Hall at
6 pm. Jean Stricklin will be moderating the study. If you
