This is the preparation of outfits by use of industrial or manual
machines.
Entry requirements: KCSC D plain
Mode of learning: 2 year, modular programme

BACKGROUND
Kenya Textile Training Institute (KTTI) is an institution
under the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) - a
semi-autonomous government agency established under the
Industrial Training (Amendment) Act 2011 for the purpose
of regulating industrial training in Kenya. KTTI is located in
Nairobi along Commercial Street, Industrial Area.
The centre offers a wide range of courses geared towards
added value training for the textile technology value chain
in Spinning, Weaving, and Processing and Garment Making.
KTTI is one of a kind in Kenya having vertically integrated
cotton, cotton blend based real simulation of a textile
processing mill.
VISION
To be the leading textile training institution spearheading
integrated industrial training for the textiles sector.
MISSION
To promote the highest standards in quality and efficiency
in industrial and ensuring a constant and adequate supply of
trained manpower at all levels of the textile industry.
GOVERNMENT TRADE TEST
Each Trade is a 1 year training programme, either full/or part
time.
Grade 3: open to anyone applying
Grade 2: requires one to have a grade 3 certificate
Grade 1: posession of Grade 2 certificate.
COURSE PROGRAMMES
Apprenticeship, supervisory and operator, in-house and skill
based courses. The courses are aimed at apprentices sponsored
by industry and self-sponsored trainees..
DIPLOMA IN TEXTILE TECHNOLOGY
Entry requirements: KCSC - C minus
Mode of learning: 3 year, modular programme
Examining Body: KNEC
SPINNING - Module I (1 year)
Conversion of fibres to yarn using industrial/hand operated
machines.
WEAVING - Module II (1 year)
Conversion of yarns to fabric either by industrial/hand
operated machines.
PROCESSING - Moldule III (1 year)
Preparation of fabrics for dyeing and printing on small and
large scale.
