West Poplar Nehemiah is a development of 176 affordable semidetached homes of new construction housing in the West Poplar
community of Philadelphia. The development was built in three
phases. The townhouses, containing three bedrooms and one and a
half baths, measure approximately 1225 square feet. Standard
features include gas forced-air heat and air conditioning, gas range,
refrigerator, garbage disposal, brick fronts with stucco on the sides
and in the rear, R-30 ceiling insulation, a large living room, separate
dining area and a full basement.
Part of the West Poplar mission was to assist with the modernization
and rehabilitation of the West and East Poplar neighborhoods by
providing homeownership for the low- to moderate-income families
of Philadelphia. All households have incomes less than 80 percent of
the Philadelphia area median income.
