Enter to learn. Depart to Serve.
On October 4, 1904 the daughter of slaves, 15th of 17 children, led by the spirit
of God embarked on a journey that would forever change the lives of hundreds
of thousands men and women in this country. With faith in God, $1.50 and five
little girls, Mary McLeod Bethune transformed the imaginative and physical
elements of her surroundings into a place where individuals could enter to learn
and depart to serve.
Beginning with her first endeavor, the Daytona Industrial School for the Training
of Negro Girls, Dr. Bethune believed in the power of education to transform the
lives of African-Americans in this country. In 1919, the curriculum was expanded
and the name was changed to the Daytona Beach Institute, and in 1923 the
school merged with the Cookman Institute in Jacksonville to become BethuneCookman College. In 2007, the college became Bethune-Cookman University.
In 2015, Bethune-Cookman University celebrates its 111th year of sustaining
faith, scholarship, and service; equipping young men and women with the skills,
tools, and competency to be successful in their chosen field of study. Today B-CU
continues in this rich tradition focused on producing 21st century world-class
graduates.
B-CU offers 36 degree programs via eight academic schools. From nursing, to
religion, engineering to criminal justice, B-CU is home to top programs. In the
classroom, our students are some of the best and brightest, taking advantage of
a relevant, dynamic education that prepares them for a global economy. On the
football field, the B-CU Wildcats are once again ranked number one in the MidEastern Athletic Conference; and our Marching Wildcats continue to be one of
the most sought-after bands in the country.
In the words of President Edison O. Jackson “In this new era we are in relentless
pursuit of excellence, we are committed to ensuring that each student receives
the highest quality academic experience to become change agents and leaders
who have a deep appreciation for social justice and global citizenship.”

Welcome to
Wallace State Community College
Wallace State Community College, located in idyllic Hanceville, Alabama and
conveniently situated a short distance from the major attractions of the state’s larger cities,
is a comprehensive community college offering associate degrees, university transfer and
certificate programs in academic, health care and technical disciplines. In fact, Wallace
State’s 25 associate degree health programs make it a national leader in the number of
health care graduates produced. Bachelor’s degree programs are also offered on campus
through the college’s University Center, and we serve high school students through dual
enrollment, early college enrollment, tech prep programs, and our on-campus Fast Track
Academy. Students complete our programs with great potential, well prepared for careers
or seamless transfer to a university. Upon transfer to a university our students meet or
exceed the performance of students who began there. Those students directly entering
a technical or health career have excellent licensure and job placement rates. Among
Wallace State’s outstanding scholars are prestigious Jack Kent Cooke and New Century
scholarship winners.
Wallace State is home to the award-winning Evelyn Burrow Museum of Fine and
Decorative Arts. The new Burrow Center for the Fine and Performing Arts complements
Wallace State’s support of the arts and is just one of many state-of-the-art learning
environments on campus. A new Advanced Visualization Center allows our students to
train in virtual reality. Student activities, outstanding athletic programs, intramurals, clubs
and organizations, service learning and volunteer opportunities make the campus feel like
a community. Educational offerings are also available totally online so that students can
learn anytime, anywhere.
When you enroll at Wallace State, you have limitless opportunities for education and
personal growth. Here, you have opportunities to explore your interests, discover your
talents, expand your knowledge, and chart a path for your future. Our faculty, staff
and administration put students first, challenging you while providing a supportive
environment and the tools you need to succeed.
Wallace State students are interested in living lives less ordinary, and we are committed
to empowering them. I extend a personal invitation to you to visit our campus, either in
person or online, and experience the wonderful educational environment you’ll find here.

Weary of the high cost of college? Not convinced a young adult must live
on a campus to gain a valuable education? Think faith in Jesus Christ should
be at the center of everything at a learning institution? At Holy Apostles
College & Seminary and Ignatius-Angelicum Liberal Studies Program, we
believe education should be faithful to the Magisterium, accessible to all, and
affordable. Why? Our mission is to cultivate Catholic leaders.
Holy Apostles College & Seminary is a fully accredited co-ed college, offering
a philosophically-based undergraduate liberal arts education in the Catholic
intellectual tradition with four Bachelor of Arts degree majors: 1) Philosophy,
2) Theology, 3) English in the Humanities, and 4) History in the Social Sciences.
These may be pursued on campus or through our online distance learning
program.
The Ignatius-Angelicum Liberal Studies Program offers a secondary (9th-12th)
literature program designed by the late Dr. Mortimer Adler who called these
works the Great Books, the works of the great authors of Western Civilization.
The program was launched by Jesuit Father Joseph Fessio¸ a former student
of Pope Benedict XVI and longtime leader in Catholic higher education. These
courses may be taken for high school and/or college credit in conjunction with
Holy Apostles.
The tuition is low, a fraction that of other colleges—a four-year degree costs
what many colleges cost in a single year—and we offer flexibility. Students
taking online courses with the Ignatius-Angelicum Liberal Studies Program
may earn up to 60 college credits in high school, and then complete a fully
accredited Bachelor’s degree by earning the final 60 college credits from
Holy Apostles College & Seminary. Think of the ingenuity of online classical
education as an extension of homeschool—we bring the best of the old
methods and teach them in the light of new technology.

course topics include Introduction to Business, College Math I, Drawing and Painting,

Ave Maria University makes homeschoolers feel right
at home. See why in 2014, these homeschooled
students chose to attend Ave ~
From Marisa:
When I went to visit Ave I found it so attractive that the Catholic faith and the
academic studies weren’t separate and unrelated, but rather complementary
and beautifully related. Being homeschooled my whole life it gave me a thirst
for knowledge and truth. What a better place than Ave to fulfill this thirst. As a
psychology major I can’t wait to study something so complex and beautiful as the
human mind. I also chose Ave because of my older brother thomas’ experience. As a
senior, he has always spoken very highly of the faculty, the academics, the social life,
and the spiritual life of Ave Maria.
From Joey:
I chose Ave Maria because of their uncompromising commitment to educating their
students in accordance with the magisterium and Catholic ideals. Throughout high
school, my Catholicism has become a major part of my identity. When I started
looking for colleges, I knew that I wanted to be in a wholeheartedly Christian
environment. I was lucky enough to have a fantastic experience with homeschooling.
During that time, I have developed an immense appreciation for a true Catholic
education. I am looking forward to forming a foundation of truth that I will build
upon for the rest of my life.
Come see for yourself why over 1,000 students attend Ave Maria University. We hope
you will make plans to visit our campus where students are always telling us they’ve
made life-long friends, while learning in a small classroom setting. The faculty to
student ratio is 1:15 and our professors are graduates of prestigious Universities,

The University of Florida is one of the strongest academic powerhouses in the nation.
In fact, only five institutions worldwide can match our educational opportunities. UF
students excel both in the classroom and beyond in more than 100 research, service
and education centers, bureaus and institutes. Gators are leaders who tackle more
than a semester schedule. They consistently challenge themselves and solve realworld problems. That’s why more than 1,200 freshmen and sophomores participate in
The Honors Program, which offers nearly 100 honors courses per semester. We also
offer professional degree programs in dentistry, law, medicine, pharmacy, physical
therapy and veterinary medicine.
THIS IS YOUR TIME.
Gators call Gainesville, Florida, home. It is located on the Interstate 75 corridor halfway
between Atlanta and Miami. Gainesville repeatedly has been named one of Florida’s
most livable cities. Our campus lies directly in the heart of the city. We like to call it The
Swamp. It spans nearly 2,000 acres and includes more than 900 buildings. With more
than 50,000 students, UF is now one of the largest universities in the nation. But with
an average student-to-faculty ratio of 25:1, don’t be shocked if professors get to know
you on a first-name basis.
YOUR FAMILY JUST GREW.
The Gator Nation is not only represented in Florida. With more than 300,000 alumni,
networking opportunities and internships are found all over the world. From China
to Germany, our students work with people who influence the world each day. That’s
why we say “It’s great to be a Florida Gator.” We also have nearly 1,000 student
organizations that are deeply involved in the community and beyond. For a full list, visit
studentinvolvement.ufl.edu.
THE BEST INVESTMENT FOR YOUR FUTURE.
UF consistently receives high marks in the popular press: No. 3 in Kiplinger’s “Best
Values in Public Colleges” (2013); No. 3 in the Fiske Guide to College’s list of “Best Buys
Among Public Schools” (2014); in the top 10 of public universities picked by top job
recruiters hiring new graduates in a 2010 Wall Street Journal survey; ranked No. 14
in U.S. News & World Report’s “Top Public Universities” (August 2013); and No. 1 in
Washington Monthly magazine’s list of public universities that provide the “Best Bang
for the Buck” (2013).
YOUR EDUCATION CAN BE DIGITAL, TOO.
With the UF Online program, qualified students can earn their four-year bachelor’s
degree entirely on the Internet from UF without relocating to Gainesville.

well-rounded as they are.
A Life University education is a values-based education, designed to empower students
not only as leaders within their fields, but also as leaders within their communities.
Whether enrolled in our world-renowned Doctor of Chiropractic program, our
undergraduate program (featuring health science and business degrees) or our graduate
programs in Athletic Training, Clinical Nutrition, Positive Psychology and Sport Health
Science, every student learns the core proficiencies and philosophies that distinguish
a LIFE education. Our graduates go on to create lives not only of success, but also of
significance.
At LIFE, we are here to support them every step of the way. We know that every student
possesses the innate intelligence and power to create, adapt and achieve, and we strive
to maximize that potential – with low student-to-faculty ratios, an emphasis on active
and experiential learning, a student-centered approach to everything from academic
support to administration, and a wellness-focused, sustainable and safe campus
community they can always call home.
While we’re known for our Doctor of Chiropractic

is quickly making a name for itself. Prestigious

MIDDLE GEORGIA STATE COLLEGE:
Want to get a jump start on college?
The Georgia Academy of Aviation, Mathematics, Engineering & Science (GAMES) at
Middle Georgia State College gives academically gifted, highly motivated high school
juniors and seniors -- and in some cases, sophomores -- an opportunity to fast forward
to college.
Students selected for GAMES live on the college’s Cochran Campus, about 40 miles from
Macon, and become part of student life at Middle Georgia State (MGA). At the end of
their two-year curriculum, GAMES students receive their high school diploma AND an
associate degree from MGA, which equates to at least 4 semesters of college credit
toward a bachelor’s degree program. While some GAMES students choose to transfer
after receiving their associate degree, many continue on at MGA, selecting from among
the dozens of degree programs offered here: mga.edu/degrees.
QUALIFICATIONS
Academic qualifications for consideration for GAMES admission include a high school
cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale in academic core classes; a composite
critical reading/math score of 1100 on SAT with minimum scores of 560 on math & 530
on critical reading OR a composite score of 24 on ACT with minimum scores of 24 on
math & 23 on English; enrollment in an accelerated college preparatory curriculum;
academic references.
CURRICULUM
The GAMES curriculum includes college core courses plus classes specific to the
student’s major. GAMES students may pursue their studies in any academic program at
MGA. Because graduation from high school is a priority, GAMES staff work closely with
high school counselors to ensure that students take the appropriate classes needed to
satisfy both state and local requirements for high school graduation.
COST
Due to their dual enrollment status, GAMES students are eligible for Accel funds, which
currently cover 100 % of tuition, and MGA waives mandatory fees. GAMES students
are responsible for housing, meal plans and some fees. Students may qualify for needsbased scholarships.
ENVIRONMENT
MGA offers a well-monitored, secure living environment for these younger students.
Professional staff are in GAMES housing 24/7. Safety and supervision are priorities.
Parents can rest assured that GAMES has high standards of conduct.

At Wesleyan, First for Women isn’t just a claim to fame -- it’s a philosophy that
separates our learning community from all others. We’re anchored in tradition
and guided by an innovative spirit. Though we look back fondly on what we’ve
achieved, we also look forward – to changing the way women are educated in
the next century. Just when it seems we couldn’t possibly accomplish more,
our “first for women” list keeps on growing.
We believe that real education is a lifelong endeavor, fueled by curiosity,
challenge, and discovery. The Wesleyan experience has four cornerstones:
Academics. Wesleyan is committed to academic excellence in the liberal arts,
the fine arts, and professional fields of study and to close relationships among
faculty and students.
Women. Wesleyan takes seriously its role as a pioneer in women’s education
and seeks to provide scholarship, leadership, and service opportunities through
which women will be challenged to accomplish ambitious goals.
Faith. Wesleyan is proud of its long relationship with the United Methodist
Church. We respect other traditions and remain committed to the JudeoChristian ethic, believing that a firm grasp of enduring human values is basic to
the Wesleyan way of learning, living, and service.
Community. Wesleyan values each member of its community as an individual
and in relationship to the whole. We work together in service to the larger
community that surrounds us.

Thomas More College
In the Apostolic Constitution Ex Corde Ecclesiae, Pope John Paul II reminded
us that the distinctive characteristic of an educational institution is its gaudium
de veritate, that is, its joy in the truth. It was a much needed reminder. Our generation has lost confidence in the ability of the human mind to attain
truth, and, consequently, finds it difficult to understand the nature of its own
academic institutions, especially those dedicated to liberal learning. For every
institution finds its identity in a common purpose, and the common good at
which liberal education aims is nothing less than the whole truth about man
and God.
Thomas More College’s motto, Caritas congaudet veritate–Charity rejoices
in the Truth—is taken from the ideal of a common pursuit of wisdom. As
wisdom—human and divine—is a common good, it is the common end of the
whole community, faculty and students. There is, therefore, one curriculum
for all, without division into specialties or departments. Since human
wisdom is attained through reflection upon our experience of the world and
deepened and refined through conversation with our ancestors, our program
of studies encourages students and faculty alike to refine the experience
of their senses, to hone and train the powers of their minds, and to follow
attentively the development of human culture by the reading of great works
from Classical and Christian civilization. Our ideal is simple: to sit at the
banquet table of the wise, together with Sophocles and Cicero, Augustine
and Dante, Shakespeare and Eliot. And since divine wisdom is gained by
reflection upon the Word of God, as transmitted and interpreted by the
Fathers and Doctors of the Church and the living Magisterium, our common
academic life culminates in the reading of Holy Scripture and reflection upon
the great works of Catholic theology.

Why would you choose one-size fits all?
Many small, private, liberal arts schools advertise
small classes and individualized attention. Antioch
College offers those things of course, but we do
things a little bit differently. We’re looking for
visionaries. For mavericks and leaders who are
ready not just for rigorous studies, but who are prepared to stand up and engage the
world. From the arts to biomedical science, studying at Antioch means stepping outside
the box to examine the most critical issues of our time from every angle.
Co-op: Not Your Average Work +Study
We’re the only college in the nation to require four full-time co-ops, domestically and
internationally, over four years of study. Now more than ever, it’s imperative that you
graduate with the ability to synthesize what you learn in the classroom (and beyond)
into skills and knowledge that will not only help you get the job after college, but that
will position you for leadership and innovation in our changing world.
Victories for Humanity
Our founding president, Horace Mann, told Antioch students that they should be
ashamed to die until they win some victory for humanity. It’s a heavy charge. It means
that we’re not the place to go for collegiate athletics. We’re proud of the fact that we
haven’t had a football team since 1929. And we’re serious about things that really
matter, which means that your tuition dollars support academics, rather then athletic
complexes.
Sustainability: Exploring New and Better Ways of Living
Eat fresh and local food from our on-campus farm. Live in residence halls that are
designed to be energy efficient—North Hall is the second-oldest LEED Gold certified
building in the nation. With campus-wide geothermal and solar initiatives, we’re
committed to moving beyond merely talking about the science behind environmental
sustainability, to actually being a laboratory for change, a playground for exploring new
and better ways of living.
Antioch isn’t for everyone, but for the right student–the visionary, the leader, the critical
thinker–there is no experience like it.

Finding a Home at
Franciscan
This spring, Savanna Buckner completed her undergraduate degree in communication
arts from Franciscan University of Steubenville. And while she spent the last four years
immersing herself in college life, her roots lie squarely in homeschooling, a background
that complemented her experiences at Franciscan.
Savanna and her seven siblings, all of whom were
homeschooled, grew up in Stafford, Virginia.
“My mom chose to homeschool because of her commitment
to rebuilding Catholic education and authentic Catholic
culture,” Savanna says. “I attribute my academic success
and knowledge of the faith to the environment she
provided.”
For Savanna, coming to Franciscan University was
both a smooth transition and a continuation of her faith-and-reason-based educational
background.
“Where one spends four years of his life is of existential importance,” says Savanna. “I
am incredibly grateful that I found my way to Franciscan. The school’s strong sense of
identity makes it less of a campus and more of a home.”
Savanna says Franciscan University is large enough to offer a range of extracurricular
activities, yet personal enough that teachers know you and care about your education.
She found that if you delve into classes and activities, there are ample opportunities for
academic and spiritual growth.
“There’s plenty of food for thought here, not only through classes but also through
distinguished speakers who frequent campus, the discipline of faith households, and
the witness of the wonderful cast of students, teachers, and staff,” Savanna says. “It’s a
holistic education, which is very satisfying.”
Savanna says that, in particular, her sisters in her faith household, Handmaids of the
Lord, challenged her to grow spiritually, academically, and socially. “They held me
accountable to my goals and challenged me to live up to my potential,” she says.
Upon graduating from Franciscan in May 2014, Savanna interned as a writer and
researcher at the Museum of the Marine Corps in Quantico, Virginia. In September she
began teaching rhetoric, creative writing, and history at a liberal arts junior college in
Belize.
Operated by the Franciscan Friars of the Third Order Regular, Franciscan University
serves over 2,500 students from all 50 states and 12 countries—including hundreds of
homeschooled students.
All students who submit homeschooled transcripts are eligible for the full range of
financial aid offered by Franciscan University.

and several foreign countries. About 20 percent
identify themselves as members of a minority
group. About 60 percent of students live on
campus in one of 17 residence halls or campus
apartments, ranging from regal high-ceilinged
halls from the 1920s to sleek, contemporary units.
More than 1,000 students are enrolled in degree
completion and graduate programs and other
credit-bearing courses, primarily at our second
campus, just a few miles away in Stafford County.
Welcome to the University of Mary Washington, where great minds get to
work! UMW is a coeducational, public liberal arts and sciences institution with a
private school look and feel. In addition to rigorous academics and small, highly
interactive classes, UMW offers a supportive campus community that values
and instills honor and integrity. There are three colleges – arts and sciences,
business, and education – all of which produce graduates who are articulate
critical thinkers prepared to succeed in today’s world.
Named for the mother of our nation’s first president, the university is located
in the City of Fredericksburg, within an hour’s drive of both Washington, D.C.,
and Richmond, Virginia. This prime location offers students an exciting mix
of history, culture, internship
opportunities, research
excursions, and recreational
activities. Students can head
west to explore the Blue Ridge
Mountains, or east to visit the
Chesapeake Bay and beautiful
beaches along the Atlantic
shoreline.

Students at Mary Washington learn from master
teachers, more than 90 percent of whom have
earned a doctorate or other terminal degree
in their field. At this university, you will find no
classes taught by graduate assistants. Since 2006,
three UMW faculty members have received
Fulbright Awards to teach abroad. The average undergraduate class size is 22
students. Upper-level classes are smaller, typically with about 15 students.
Nearly 300 UMW students study abroad in yearlong, semester, or summer
programs. The university offers more than a dozen of its own faculty-led
summer programs and more than 100 exchange or direct-enroll opportunities
with universities around the world.

dreamed of becoming a reporter since 5th grade.
As an Emory & Henry mass communications
major, she is a step closer to reaching her
lifelong goal. She recently completed an
internship at the CNN Headquarters
in Atlanta. “CNN was an incredible
experience,” says Bailey, who currently is
studying in Ireland.
“Emory & Henry is a place that will
change your life if you let it. If you come
with an open mind and heart, you will find
your life transformed.”

CATHOLIC
to the Core
r
At Franciscan University, the wisdom of the past guides
our students as they prepare for their future careers.
Whether they aspire to serve as doctors, theologians,
business leaders, or scientists, the 40-plus credits in our
Catholic Core immerse them in the study of Western
Civilization and the Catholic Intellectual Tradition.
Franciscan students study the best minds of both yesterday
and today, from Augustine and Aristotle to John Paul II
and Benedict XVI. For us, Academic Excellence means
producing graduates as ready for the challenges of a
secular culture as they are for their careers.
