THE PROPERTY
E
stancia El Tránsito has major business
potential, either for breeding cattle or
developing ecotourism opportunities, as its
proximity to the Esteros del Iberá, one of the largest
and most ecologically diverse floodplains in South
America, endows it with a unique added value.
The property, well-equipped with recently-renovated
buildings constructed in the typical Corrientes
estancia style, has its own landing strip for light
aircraft and is just 20 minutes from the
floodplain in the world, covering an expanse

RECREATIONAL ATTRIBUTES
E
cotourism and fly-fishing are of course the main sporting attractions
of Estancia El Tránsito, where fishermen can take on the challenge of
reeling in the feisty dorado, known as the river tiger, or the succulent surubí.
There are also opportunities to enjoy the scenery from the back of a horse,
in a boat or simply hiking. Bird watching and photo safaris are a major
favorite with visitors as the Esteros marshes are home to a profusion
of different water bird species.
CONSERVATION values
T
he wildlife is plentiful and extremely diverse: red deer, imported from other countries, graze alongside the tall leggy
marsh deer which is a species under threat. Also on the endangered list are the ñandú, the South American ostrich
or rhea, as well as two species of fish-eating alligator, the yacaré negro and the overo, the main predators in the marshes
whose numbers are now on the rise after many years of being hunted by poachers virtually to the point of extinction.
The area surrounding estancia El Transito is home to at least 125 species of fish, 40 amphibians, 60 reptiles and 344
types of birds.
