NICI is a globally successful manufacturer of stuffed
toys and gift articles which it develops itself using a
future-orientated software solution. The great variety
of product formats and all relevant data are linked
together in real time over a global platform.
NICI produces accessories and stuffed toys in Asia,
while the respective samples for them are developed
in its offices in China. The unique NICI designs use
high-quality materials which are manufactured in
equally high-quality processes and which are subject to painstaking inspections - all features of an
internationally renowned company.

more than 60 employees in different departments
in our home location of Altenkunstadt and by more
than 30 employees in Asia. The success of the project, including the seminars held at our company, is
not least due to the first-class cooperation, the expert

Stuffed animals, stationery or porcelain are only
some examples which are characteristic of the gift
article business. This requires individual requirements to be taken into account and must also allow
for any required expansion at any time during the
global use of the database.
The introduction of TEX-DEFINE™ in 2011 makes it
possible for all users (from the designer to the final
member of quality assurance) at all locations all over
the world to work with the same product-specific development data in one system simultaneously. All
PDM applications can thus be carried out centrally
in one common database.

The company was founded in Altenkunstadt in Upper Franconia in 1986 and now has more than 400
employees worldwide. NICI GmbH is one of the
world‘s leading manufacturers of stuffed toys and gift

3000 sales outlets in Germany, including more than
30 company stores, and in more than 60 countries

The times in which Product Development had to carefully document all descriptions and comments for
designs in Word files and to record all the other
data such as labeling, packaging details, safety regulations and material lists in Excel worksheets before sending everything off to Asia are now firmly
in the past. No uniform image of these documents,
including a transparent filing system, was available,
research was incredibly complex and awkward, there was no system flexibility and reporting was only
possible using manual tools. TEX-DEFINE™ makes
our work more systematic, gives it more structure
and makes it much more efficient. It is user-friendly
and provides the decisive advantage of mapping
the huge variety of our different products in one
system, from stuffed animals to stationery, porcelain
and textiles, Jacqueline Mack explains. She has
been working closely with the Koppermann project
leader, Daniel Pfaul, right from the start of the project in order to produce the comprehensive solution
for the complete NICI product life cycle.
