Tangled Threads Quilt Shop 202 6th Street Lynden, WA 98264 360-318-1567 Fall 2016 Class Newsletter Dearest Friends, The Northwest Washington Fair is over, and canning season is coming to an end. This means it's time to bust out our sewing machines for some much-needed relaxation and frivolity, as well as gather in classes with our most cherished friends (and the friends we've yet to meet). At Tangled Threads, we're joining in a centuries-old practice of women who shared their lives as they harvested, cooked, sewed, and quilted together. The relationships that were built in bonding over these tasks knit their hearts and community together—and we've experienced the same phenomenon in our shop. And even though we have never really taken home much of a paycheck, we've been compensated by the incredible friendships and joyful moments we've been able to share. We've been blessed to share with, confide in, and pray for and with so many of you. You've invited us into your lives through milestones like engagements, weddings, and children, and we've carried each other through injuries, illness, and loss. Strangers have wandered through the shop doors and into our hearts. Would we trade it for fuller wallets? Not on your life. This journey has meant the world to us. We started Tangled Threads 15 years ago to give women their own "clubhouse," but this comes with expenses and overhead—so it became a retail quilt shop. Since we opened the doors, we've been on a financial roller coaster. There have been times we've had to have sobering discussions about whether we needed to close the doors, but the Lord has always provided. We cannot count the times God has directly responded to our prayers. It's nearly impossible for us to talk about how He's rescued us without getting choked up. He's been ever so faithful. I tell you all of that in order to say this: We love and appreciate each and every one of you. You have come alongside of us and offered us spiritual, emotional, and physical help. You have supported Tangled Threads financially by your commitment to us and your conviction to shop locally. Our lives would not be full of thousands of amazing stories about the goodness of God and this community if you hadn't been there for us along the way. You have enriched us, and we're excited and eager to share many more seasons with you. ~Thelma & Sharylann Skinny Slow Cooker White Bean Chicken Chili Ingredients 3/4 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper 1 medium onion, chopped 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and chopped (optional) 2 teaspoons dried oregano 1 teaspoon ground cumin 4 garlic cloves, minced 2 cans (15 oz each) white kidney or cannellini beans, rinsed/drained 3 cups fat free chicken broth 1-1/2 cups (6 ounces) low fat shredded cheese Fat Free Sour cream and minced fresh cilantro, optional Directions Sprinkle chicken with salt and pepper then place it in the bottom of the Slow Cooker.
