FOR MORE INFORMATION VISIT BROKENHILLFRINGE.COM | FACEBOOK.COM/BROKENHILLFRINGE WWW.SYDNEYFRINGE.COM Principal Partner of the Broken Hill Fringe Local People Developing Local Solutions to Lo cal Is LL sues Welcome to the inaugural Broken Hill Fringe! Our thanks go to all our sponsors but in particular our major sponsors Regional Development Australia, 2BH and Hill FM, Broken Hill Community Foundation, NSW Government, Brand Creative and Broken Hill Tourist Park. We would also to thank John Williams, Member for Murray Darling for championing our cause with the NSW Government.Over the next few years we believe we can build something that will bring significant economic and social benefits to Broken Hill. We have done our best to program an event to cater for everyone in our community and to ensure the Fringe is accessible to all, we have included many free events including at On the Fringe our pop up bar and entertainment venue. This event would not have been possible without the work of many including the PVCBA Committee our Project Officer and volunteers, but most importantly, the work of our artists. Thank you one and all and see you at the Fringe! Philip O’Keefe, Chair Patton Village Community & Business Association As the first regional hub of the Sydney Fringe Festival the Broken Hill Fringe will provide not only a showcase on our region but an outstanding opportunity for our inspiring artists to perform. Regional Development Australia Far West is proud to partner with the Patton Village Community & Business Association to support this development. On behalf of the committee and staff of RDA Far West I would like to congratulate the Patton Village Community & Business Association on their vision, dedication and inspiration. Michael Williams, Executive Officer RDA Far West Broken Hill Fringe Principal Partner We would like to show our respect and acknowledge the Wilykali people of the Paakantji Nation, the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which these events take place and of Elders past and present. The exhibition will provide a large variety of subjects in all mediums so there will be something of interest for all art lovers. Opening hours – 10am-4pm Free Event Thu 17 - Sun 27 Oct // Photographic Exhibitions // TAFE College Information Technology Digital Photographic Exhibition // ‘Urban Angles’ // An exhibition of the work of TAFE’s Information Technology students. The exhibition is a culmination of works created by TAFE students studying Information, Digital Media and Technology from Certificate 2 through to Diploma. Students photographed Broken Hill architectural locations, capturing unusual angles and creating interesting abstracts. Students looked for clean, graphic lines and bright colours of various buildings inside and out. A ‘People’s Choice’ Prize will be awarded via a public vote. Space Terrarium // An exhibition of works called “Space Terrarium” by artists Virginia Taylor, Raphael Sherriff and Joanna Doley. Pastel, ink and Conté on textured card. Check out their website/shop also http://www.etsy.com/shop/spaceterrarium. Opening Hours – Mon- Thu 9am-6.30pm; Fri 9am-1pm. Free Event Sat 12 Oct - Sun 24 Nov // The Mars Project // Broken Hill Regional Art Gallery // An Adam Norton Exhibition. As a recipient of a 2012 Artist in Residence grant Norton was able to embark on yet another exploration of the influence of science and technology cultures amongst the extreme landscapes of outback Broken Hill during his residencies. Should humans ever reach Mars and mineral rich deposits are discovered, the planet could well become a new ‘High Frontier’, a concept reflecting Broken Hill’s early founding years as a frontier town, then isolated from much of the world. Norton’s VISUAL ARTS work creates an interesting dialogue on current human progress and the ever present and often burning desire to find new lands and resources. The new works produced from the Residency will form this exhibition. Opening Hours – Mon-Sun 10am-5pm. Gold Coin donation.
