The bulging and the light by her lower stomach evoke fertility, the mother-to-be, creative power, the life. The presence of the cat reinforces the spirit of fertility, as the Egyptians formerly believed that there was a connection. 00000-fasiculeMCT_vGB:fasiculeFRKF 21/09/11 14:37 Page 29 THE EMPRESS - Arcana 3 Her story... For a man, the card is equally active but it brings about a psychological dimension which we approach later. 31 00000-fasiculeMCT_vGB:fasiculeFRKF 21/09/11 14:37 Page 78 Extract of CHAPTER 3 The big Universal Tarot Bruno de Nys Here is the first angel of the Tarot. Everything on this card releases gentleness and fairness. The principle of Ying and Yang (feminine/masculine) are respected here. The blue jug (passive) is situated on the red side of the dress and the red jug (active), on the blue side. Between the two, a fluid flows back and forth. Actions are therefore a subtle mix of the active and the passive, always heading in the direction of spirituality. The mentality is passive (blue hair) and actions turn towards a collective well being (red flower). 00000-fasiculeMCT_vGB:fasiculeFRKF 21/09/11 14:37 Page 79 TEMPERANCE - Arcana 14 Its story... As its name indicates, Temperance is the card of calm and physical rest. The passive blue jug pours out its energy to the active red jug, in a flow of spirituality. It’s a good synthesis of Ying and Yang, the more or the less. General meaning Positive: principle of the movement of the fluids – leisure activities – communication – holidays – the point of departure towards renewal or the return towards the past – period of opening up to others – dialogue – comfort – tenderness – understanding others – the respect of its body and its energies – quiet strength of confidence. Negative: not enough self respect – need of rest – anxiety – lack of relationships – negative circle (friends, family) – easily manipulated – superficial – lack of foresight. Characters Publicists – film directors – men of broadcasting (with Judgement) – natural therapies (with the Hanged Man) – travel agents – electricians – plumbers – musicians (with Judgement) – healers – healers (with the Devil) – all professions that are gentle and communicative. 79 00000-fasiculeMCT_vGB:fasiculeFRKF 21/09/11 14:37 Page 80 Work Positive: professional environment is regenerating – new contracts – new foundations – very good period – good professional ambience, and you manage to moderate the different dispositions - mediator – good communication – the routine is positive. If you are looking for work: it is good to head towards humanist and communicative trades – you should ‘go with the flow’ and have confidence in what is to come – can represent interim or part time work. Negative: hesitation between old and new politics – letting things go – lack of communication – hesitations – you weigh up the pros and cons too much – physical fatigue - temporary laziness – you prefer to be carried along by your close circle and have fun – dependence and passivity. Finances Positive: Temperance is not a card of money in itself – finances come and go without affecting anything – money perhaps spent for hobbies or holidays (if the other cards confirm it) – not a period not for returns on money but you always finds a solution regarding due dates. Negative: thinking more about having fun than economising even though finances are low and inconsistent – tendency to spend. Love Positive: things stir – a telephone invitation – someone new or from the past appears – good relations and communications within a couple – accepting single status – good period for numerous fun meetings – erotic games and new sexual practises (with Strength and the Devil) – outings (cinema, disco…) – relaxation. Negative: - fear of failure – no more communication - inconsistency – many compromises (not always positive), are made so as not to hurt the partner – too much submission. Astrological correspondence: Aquarius Temperance is a card which, when the draw is positive, indicates relaxation, leisure activities and confidence in life. However, it needs to have associations. 80 00000-fasiculeMCT_vGB:fasiculeFRKF 21/09/11 14:37 Page 119 EXERCISES FROM CHAPTER 2 Carried out with all 22 arcanas DREAMS : the arcanas to slide under your pillow are: 1) THE EMPRESS, two or three days 2) TEMPERANCE, the three following days Which are the two associated cards which represent? 1) A nightclub? 2) A farmer? 3) Moving house? 4) Spring? 5) Autumn? 6) Summer holidays? 7) Winter holidays? 8) Next summer? 9) Next winter? 10) Hearing problems? 11) A financial slow down? 12) An emotional break-up? 13) Professional blockages? 14) Love at first sight? 15) A computer engineer? 16) Television or radio presenter? 17) A doctor? 18) A builder? 19) A lawyer? 119 00000-fasiculeMCT_vGB:fasiculeFRKF 21/09/11 14:37 Page 120 20) Overseas travel? 21) Very lucrative employment? 22) Glancing at the Tarot cards, which is the arcana which (according to you) represents you the best (in positive as in negative). Think about and indicate your choice below: CHOSEN CARD: .................................................................................................. WHY THIS CHOICE? Express this in a few words. 23) Now, spread out the cards in front of you and ask the question: “Which is the card which best represents me today?” Draw any card by chance. Which is it? .................................................................. What do you think? ............................................................................................... EXERCICES FOR THE CUT A person asks the question to the cut: ‘Will I pass my exam?’ Glance at this cut and taking into account the previous explanations, please answer the questions while trying to develop your response (a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’ isn’t enough in this particular case). Detail the ‘for’ and ‘against. Make a summary and indicate the result. Here is the cut: – + Now take your Tarot and after having shuffled, use the cut to ask a personal question or answer the question of a person in your group. Note down your question, the resulting cut, your summary and your result. 120 00000-fasiculeMCT_vGB:fasiculeFRKF 21/09/11 14:37 Page 121 CORRECTIONS TO EXERCISE 2 1) Two cards for a nightclub The night is represented by the Moon in the Tarot. This card also signifies the crowd. The music in the Tarot is the Judgement (the trumpet). Therefore a place for music and the night: 18 – 20 2) Two cards representing a farmer. A farmer is a specialist of the earth. Specialists are always represented by the Pope, and the earth by The Arcana without a Name. Therefore the response is: 5 – 13 3) Moving house. The Moon symbolises a dwelling and the House of God, voluntary changes: 18 – 16 4) Two arcanas for spring. The Moon symbolises winter and the Sun, summer. Spring is found between winter and summer, so 18 – 19 5) Two arcanas for autumn. Summer is symbolised by the Sun and winter by the Moon; Autumn is found between summer and winter: so 19 – 18 6) Two arcanas for the summer holidays Holidays, hobbies and rest are represented by Temperance and summer by the Sun, so: 14 – 19 7) Two arcanas for the winter holidays. We take again the signification of Temperance to which we add the season concerned, represented by the Moon, so 14 – 18 121 00000-fasiculeMCT_vGB:fasiculeFRKF 21/09/11 14:37 Page 122 8) Two arcanas for next summer In the Tarot, the Star represents the principle of the future. Summer is the Sun. The response is 17 – 19. It is possible that a confusion (legitimate at the beginning), makes you choose the Wheel of Fortune in place of the Star. Why not? But in this case, it is more about the imminent summer (time is approached in the 4th chapter) 9) Two arcanas for next winter The same reasoning as the previous question, but we simply replace the Sun by the Moon: 17 – 18 10) Two arcanas for hearing problems This is about a health concern; the card representative of this area is the Hanged Man. Hearing is represented by Judgement (look at the graphics). Response: 12 –20 11) Two arcanas for a financial slow down The slow downs are expressed by the Hermit and finances by the Devil. Answer 9 – 15 If you have preferred the Hanged Man to the Hermit, it means in this case, a financial blockage. 12) Two arcanas for an emotional break up A break up supposes a radical act, easily represented by the Arcana without a Name. As for love, it is obviously, represented by the Lover. Response: 13 – 6 The choice of the House of God in place of the Arcana without a Name would be more likely to evoke an emotional disruption, not necessarily ending with a split. 13) Two arcanas for professional blockages Blockages are the Hanged Man and work, Chariot. Therefore 12 – 7 14) Two arcanas for ‘love at first sight’ Love at first sight, is firstly (look at the graphics) the House of God. Feelings are represented by the Lover. So, 16 – 6. Here, we’re thinking ‘head over heels’! 122 00000-fasiculeMCT_vGB:fasiculeFRKF 21/09/11 14:37 Page 123 15) Two arcanas for a computer engineer An engineer suggests a specialist: the Pope is the obvious choice. Information technology, a technician in constant evolution, is represented by the Arcana without a Name. The answer: 5 – 13 You notice the similarity with question 2. Here there are a number of Tarot applications; only experience will enable you to make the difference in a draw. 16) Two arcanas for a radio or TV presenter It’s about communication by sound waves represented by Temperance. The word ‘presenter’ suggests the principle of communication. The card which is the most communicative of the Tarot is Judgement. So, 14 – 20 17) Two arcanas for a doctor It’s about a specialist, the Pope, and for health, the Hanged Man. So, 5 – 12 18) Two arcanas for a builder A builder is also a specialist of housing. The Pope is once again obvious and the Moon represents all forms of housing. So, 5 – 18 For those who have chosen the House of God in place of the Moon, this association is also valuable. In fact, the Moon represents housing in general and the House of God, why not, a house to renovate? 19) Two arcanas for a lawyer A lawyer is a specialist of law, therefore, the books. The High Priestess seems rightly indicated. Justice, of course represents the profession concerned. So, 2 – 8 For those who have chosen the Empress, I would say this is more about a novice in this area so would advise against it…! 20) Two cards for overseas travel The Fool represents distant travel. The World symbolises travel on the continent and the association of the two always speaks of travel overseas: 22 – 21. 123 00000-fasiculeMCT_vGB:fasiculeFRKF 21/09/11 14:37 Page 124 21) Two arcanas for lucrative employment A job? So, the Chariot. Finances are represented by the Devil. Response: 7 – 15 Correction to the cut: 8 – 6 As previously mentioned, the Lover in ‘against’ indicates failure of exams so the response to this question is negative. However, the fact that Justice comes out in ‘for’ suggests a stable, well balanced consultant, capable of listening to a sensible speech. Justice, (well positioned), always indicates tenacious people who persistently go to the end of their objectives. In ‘for’, it also indicates that the way you have chosen is the good one. In this precise case, the Lover encloses the draw for the moment. This is what to say: “You have good abilities and a real fulfilment for potential in your chosen path. However, it seems that this time, there won’t be the results you had hoped for but make sure you hold on to your abilities. I advise you to re take this exam and to be better prepared for it.” 124 00000-fasiculeMCT_vGB:fasiculeFRKF 21/09/11 14:37 Page 137 Extract of CHAPTER 3 The cut and the occult arcanas The generic arcanas The arcanas of substitution Example : “Am I going to find work?” Cut: 19 / 6 Here there is no generic card, no substitute card, nor even the Emperor or the Empress, allowing you to offer a psychological opinion. In the cut’s work, there are many occult arcanas. We are going for the moment to work with the three principle ones and will approach the others in the next chapter. Traditionally, we name the arcanas of the cut and their arcanas by the letters of the alphabet: A: for the arcana drawn in ‘for’ (+) B: for the arcana drawn in ‘against’ (-) C: for the first occult arcana, by the addition of A + B D: for the second occult arcana, by the addition of A + C E: for the third occult arcana, by the addition of B + C 137 00000-fasiculeMCT_vGB:fasiculeFRKF 21/09/11 14:37 Page 138 C D E A B + – After having observed the base cut (the ‘for’ A and the ‘against’ B), we begin the steps by calculating the occult arcana C, that is to say, the addition of A + B. In this case, we add 19 + 6, which gives the result of 25. In the Tarot, the number 25 doesn’t exist since arcana 22, the Fool, is the last card. We reduce the 25 to 2 + 5 = 7. So, we obtain an arcana, the Chariot. How do you analyse the first occult C? This is neither positive nor negative. It is fed by one ‘for’ and by one ‘against’ and it will take ‘its colour’ or polarity (we are going there in the next chapter) according to the group of occult arcanas obtained (C, D + E). This is necessary in order to continue the steps and analyse the global signification of the draw, once all the elements are obtained. The objective of these steps is, of course, to find a generic arcana or an arcana of global substitution, in order to have a precise response to the question. Now calculate the occult arcanas D and E. D = A + C, therefore 19 + 7 = 26, rather 2 + 6 = 8. E = B + C, therefore 6 + 7 = 13 (this arcana exists in the Tarot so it is pointless to reduce this number) 138 00000-fasiculeMCT_vGB:fasiculeFRKF 21/09/11 14:37 Page 139 Summing up the elements in action: 7 8 13 + – We are in ‘luck’ because from the calculation of our first occult arcana (C), we obtain the generic card of the question asked, a question of work. The response is favourable to the question asked, but as you have previously read, this generic arcana comes out in third position. It suggests, at first sight, a delay in fulfilment. This delay is quantifiable and we will be coming back to this later. It is necessary nevertheless, even if we have our response, to analyse the whole draw and its occults. At the cut, we have as usual, a ‘for’ and an ‘against’, but also a positive and negative axis. The positive axis: is composed of A + D + C, in this case, 19 + 8 + 7. This axis indicates the forces in action or the potential for fulfilment, the strong points of the consultant. The negative axis: is composed of B + E + C, in this case 6 + 13 + 7. This axis indicates the oppositions to the question and the eventual weaknesses of the consultant. How to analyse the occult arcanas D and E. Keep in mind, for the moment, the fact that the occult arcanas D and E come to reinforce or to weaken the ‘axis for’ or ‘axis against’, following their position. They also give additional information of the draw. 139 00000-fasiculeMCT_vGB:fasiculeFRKF 21/09/11 14:37 Page 140 The occult arcana D (A + C), gives us more information on the trumps playing in favour of the person. The occult arcana E (B + C), tells us more about the oppositions of the draw. ANALYSING THE DRAW “It is good to shine because you are in a good period and luck is on your side. It isn’t good for you to show indecision. It is necessary for you to decide to act and not hesitate to show yourself.” (Analysis of ‘for’ and of ‘against’ A and B). At first glance, without having the generic or replacement card, the response already proves to be optimistic. We now analyse the positive axis: ‘It is good to shine (the Sun) and to triumph professionally (the Chariot). There is stability and balance (Justice). Then the negative axis: “It isn’t good to doubt and to ‘let go’ (the Lover). To succeed professionally (the Chariot). It isn’t good to be depressed and to be discouraged (Arcana without a Name)”. Remember that arcana C (the Chariot, which is either in the analysis of the positive or the negative axis) always stays neutral and symbolises a fact, and here, the professional triumph. What you say to the consultant : “You have the potential and you are in a bright period (the Sun). Avoid doubting yourself and make more choices about what you wish to do (the Lover). Professional triumph appears to arrive (the Chariot) and you will find balance (Justice). This will enable you to advance towards new horizons and to forget the period of despondency which slowed you down (Arcana without a Name)”. NB: If the occult arcana C is found dynamised by the positive axis, at this particular moment, the negative axis will give fair, psychological information (to encourage the consultant). You should always avoid complicating the interpretation if the positive axis is very bright, especially if a generic or substitution card has been found. In our cut 19/6 we can minimise the meaning of the occult arcana 13, as this card is fading in front of the strength of the positive axis (which joins the Sun, Justice and the Chariot). 140 00000-fasiculeMCT_vGB:fasiculeFRKF 21/09/11 14:37 Page 343 Extract of CHAPTER 10 Thecross draw Derivation Health Example: A shopkeeper asks if the promotional week that she is organising in her shop will go well. S1 = 18 S2 = 12 S3 = 3 12 16 7 3 9 5 9 5 The synthesis no. 1 (18) indicates a place where a crowd can go (the Moon also symbolises the crowd), a creative capacity, a family business (see the notes on the Moon). This isn’t a disruptive card, as is often the case, as the psychological axis of the present (A + B = 8, Justice) shows a well balanced woman, looking for structure and her ‘head firmly on her shoulders’. Also, this positive strictness is confirmed by the psychological axis of the future (C + D = 4, the Emperor) with the feet firmly on the ground. The synthesis no. 2 (12) evokes a certain slowness, perhaps even a blockage. This isn’t the case in this draw as the association of the Moon and the Hanged Man (S1 and S2) rather indicates that the shop works with a regular, loyal clientele, people linked to the retail place. 343 00000-fasiculeMCT_vGB:fasiculeFRKF 21/09/11 14:37 Page 344 The synthesis no. 3 (3) represents the consultant by the addition of S1 and S2, 18 + 12 = 3, the Empress. Up until then, the shopkeeper doesn’t appear in the base draw (A, B, C, D and E). Her presence here confirms a strong dedication of service in her shop. By these three synthesis, a quick interpretation can indicate this: “a crowd (the Moon) of regular customers (the Hanged Man) for a woman (the Empress)” Our three synthesis are repeated on the diagonal axis of the near future. This feature affirms the first message of the synthesis and announces the success of this operation. NB: It is always important to put into perspective the study of a draw and moreover to adapt it to the situation of the consultant. In our example, the generic card of money (the Devil) doesn’t appear. We would be right to think that this week of promotions would be a failure. Don’t forget that it’s about a family business (the Moon, card E) working with the regular customers and we are not necessarily waiting for a sudden financial boom! For a multi national business, the draw would be mediocre so in this case it is good. Always remember that you are not making the analysis in connection with yourself, but that you are working for other people and in their own context…which can be extraordinary for one but can prove very banal for the other. Even if a generic card is always welcome, it isn’t so indispensable in the cross draw. This technique makes you look beyond the appearances and not to settle for everything that is obvious. Analysis of this cross “It is good that you’re open to others (the Lover) and not to doubt. It isn’t good not to show yourself, to withdraw into yourself and to not advertise in the newspapers (the High Priestess: look at the pretty book which she carries on her knees…). An acceleration in your activity will interject (the Wheel of Fortune) with which the result will be the coming of people to your business (The Moon). Follow your creativity (the Moon) and you will find success.” In the cross draw, as in the simple cross draw, the occult and diagonal axis play the same roles. The same rules apply (colours, excesses, repetitions, suits, contradictory associations…..). The only variant (however a sizeable one!) is the non choosing of the central card E. Also, contrary to the cut to the draw in simple cross, the absence of a generic card doesn’t have to block you or stop your analysis, even if one or the other is always welcome. 344 00000-fasiculeMCT_vGB:fasiculeFRKF 21/09/11 14:37 Page 463 PASSING FROM VOYANCE TO MEDIUM The frontier between clairvoyance and medium is narrow. However, the benefits obtained by the medium is much more consequential. Everyone possesses medium abilities, they are particular to mankind. Their development depends on several factors, which when added together, make the difference. Family circle and cultural heredity Many practitioners speak to you of a mother, a grandmother or of a father, healer, diviner, medium or quite simply someone adept with cards. It is obvious that a child brought up in a family context of aroused intuition will be more inclined to practise as an adult than a child who hasn’t had the same background. This can appear obvious but we shouldn’t believe that the future mediums will come from those receptive to intuition. It should never be forgotten that the most efficient mediums are all children aged 3 to 7. In fact, we can quickly count their extraordinary abilities to show the future for themselves or for their closest family. It is often insignificant events, of simple predictions all which belong to pure intuition. Young children have a great capacity for picking up on positive and negative people. Every parent in the world can notice the astonishing ability of children to guess who’s on the end of the line when the phone rings. For those who still haven’t noticed, I suggest that they try! Be tempted to experience several times, the way to create a new game; ask a child who is calling before you put down the phone. You will notice after a short time, the surprising results of your child; their response will be rapid and without hesitation. We are big children all our lives, suggesting that by adulthood this mechanism still works, either because we have trained it or because it has been assimilated since childhood. The ideal situation is that the two phenomena are associated. In order that the intuitive capacities of a child are detected, it supposes an attentive listening of the parents. In our society, the child isn’t always listened to or is simply not believed. Very often, this quick, incredulous attitude of the parents brings the young child to forsake this ability which apparently doesn’t interest anyone. Time and hormones will have already relegated this faculty and filed it away in the subconscious. However, how many errors of judgement, of time saved, of sufferance and failures are avoided when the intuitive function is activated in an adult’s life. Another phenomenon explains the withdrawal of intuition; certain children have a very strong natural tendency for predictions of death. Very often, they announce or dream of death of close people (grandparents for example) several days in advance. When the event arrives, parents minimise the prediction, so as not to shock the child. 463 00000-fasiculeMCT_vGB:fasiculeFRKF 21/09/11 14:37 Page 464 This is unfortunately a bad attitude because the child doesn’t understand what has happened to him. They can feel guilty or be afraid of this kind of phenomenon. The best attitude would be to explain to them the natural existence of this intuition and if need be to teach them its function and its use. Puberty and adolescence A little later in life, generally around 12 or 13, the intuitive will is back. Most of the time it is wasted by a far fetched and inexperienced approach. It’s the time of ‘table turning’, spiritualism and other fears of puberty and adolescents. These practises are strongly unadvisable because they can leave indelible marks with certain fragile psychological subjects. Also, they trivialise and devalue the approach of instinct, of energy of the magnetic world, of dreams…All this is taken away by the great immaturity of an evening between youths where there are always those who mock the ones having felt something or the ones who have expressed their fears. This is a shame because at this stage of life, intuition can be very correctly and concretely transmitted to the young, greedy for knowledge. Love, intuition, the medium, the relevance of dreams, the observation of the signs of life which aren’t yet taught at school and approached even less… What a pity and moreover, what a waste! Finally, there will be very few beings who have overcome these two very testing stages. Certainly, every one of us will experience some intuitive flashes in our lives (it will often be attributed to luck or accident….), but they will be furtive. After these two passages, only the will to know more and to learn can reactivate a function which, originally is inscribed in the human capacity. This is why generations of thinkers have bequeathed to humanity the tool of knowledge of self and others, such as astrology, numerology, Tarot, palm reading…. It is enough to be interested, to work with humility and honesty in order to realise that everything can be reactivated. Nothing or no one has to harness or hide things and it is enough to lift the veil to understand. To want is also to have the wish to be interested in this subject and in others. Psychological and physical shocks In many cases the medium or intuition is reactivated after a shock. It is of varying nature according to the subjects. This is perhaps an emotional break up, a death, an accident, a N.D.E. (Near Death Experience: clinically dead) or a coma. People having lived this type of ordeal, can transcend their over emotional behaviour; this phenomenon is very common. 464 00000-fasiculeMCT_vGB:fasiculeFRKF 21/09/11 14:37 Page 465 A few words in connection with this natural aptitude… Some people used the word ‘gift’ but by doing so, completely mystified their world!! This attitude was heavily paid for over the course of history and humanity. How many individuals having this ‘gift’ were found on a stake! The word ‘gift’ supposes a divine provision, therefore to be a representative of God! What pretention and what a lack of fraternity! The voyance and the medium are not the fruit of God, but of work, of education, of will and of love of others. Of course as in a sport or in life there are always the beings who are more or less capable. In this way you can obtain excellent projective results with one person and touch on the medium with another, just like these people having this famous ‘gift’…!! Generally, flee from the people who insist on possessing (it’s a word used in general and it means so much…) a divine gift…! The difference between the voyance and the medium This can be summarised by this very simple story: imagine that you are consulting. The practitioner announces this: “You are going to change your vehicle in the Spring” Here is a precise projection (or clairvoyance) and sufficiently positioned in its timescale. The same medium projection gives this: “You are going to change your vehicle in the Spring. It is concerning a light coloured car. You will buy it from a couple of elderly people who live nearby”. The announced event is the same, only the details change. The medium affirms the feelings, going beyond the draw. NB: It isn’t necessary after these few sentences to abandon the clairvoyance and believe that the medium is an elaborated clairvoyance. Also, it is preferable to consult a good clairvoyant rather than a poor medium…! How to initiate the state of the medium The clairvoyance requires a knowledge of the basic techniques and good concentration. The medium is transcended projection, that is to say, the clairvoyance plus more. You must pass over the technical aspects and let yourself go completely. You should allow the diverse feelings which arrive during an analysis to sink in and learn to verbalise them. The medium is nourished from the solid foundations (numerology, the Tarot, the energy of the person), but it is, nevertheless, a spontaneous act. Whilst analysing the consultant’s draw, you might wish to say something which doesn’t register in the Tarot. You can physically feel the various phenomena. Without looking to necessarily understand these, transmit your feelings to the consultant. In 95% of cases, the information concerns the person and can be interpreted in many ways. You spontaneously pick up the number of children, the first name of the partner, the 465 00000-fasiculeMCT_vGB:fasiculeFRKF 21/09/11 14:37 Page 466 consultant’s profession or a particular health feature. Don’t search to provoke these phenomena. It has to be spontaneous and be obvious to you. From this moment you will need to quickly ‘sort it out’, in order to announce with all the required psychology what you have felt. So there are no particular rules to achieving this state of medium, you just have to accept the spontaneous creativity. You should have the courage to say things without asking too many questions. The mind is the enemy of the medium and so as not to fall in the trap, some practitioners close their eyes in order to capture the maximum of sensations while avoiding the external pressures. Others stare at a candle…with experience, everyone finds their way of working. WARNING The medium, as the clairvoyance, isn’t a spectacular show where you are the main actor! Don’t mystify an act which originally, is very simple and which moreover, is to help the consultant, not impress them! The clairvoyance can be obtained at every consultation if this is approached in the rules of the art. The medium will not be systematically obvious, nobody or nothing can provoke this state. It is enough just to be humble and available in whichever case presents itself. The various expressions of the mediums These are many, but the people who have the occasion to live them all are rare. At the most, two types of expressions are experienced. For most of the time, the practitioner keeps to their method of working. In this way, for example, the medium, used to visualising the images will rarely have the opportunity to have auditory information. - Images: this is the most widespread perception. You are in the middle of a consultation when suddenly you see the consultant in a given situation. The image is, of course mental, but it is distinct and is imposed with strength and evidence. Very often, the first images occur at the time you first meet the consultant….. - Odours: a little less common, this feature is, however, dreadful. It is concerning the very experienced practitioners having been able, with time, to associate odours with events. When you speak about smell, it isn’t about the consultant, that’s for sure!.. but strong, spontaneous odours that only the practitioner captures. For example, the smell of rose can symbolise emotional success, the smell of ether or of alcohol at 90’, a hospitalisation or a health problem. The smell of fire or burning , some sort of danger… - Sounds: just like odours, hearing sounds requires an association of ideas peculiar to the practitioner. Generally, deafness, muffled sound, symbolises difficulties to 466 00000-fasiculeMCT_vGB:fasiculeFRKF 21/09/11 14:37 Page 467 come. A high pitched and light sound announces a success. However, don’t trust those practitioners who speak to you in these terms: “It tells me that…” …..who is ‘it’…? Be reasonable! - Faintness: a great classic of the profession. During a consultation it isn’t rare to have the sensation of being about to faint; head turning and a state of general weakness. Contrary to what you might think, this is rather a good sign! Be assured, evoked blackouts don’t occur. On the other hand, this undesirable situation indicates that you are feeling energy from the person facing you and that you should advance gently as long as the fainting lasts, because once it passes, the projection will be of good quality. In fact, it is as if you capture an exterior energy, your body responds and is eased once all these elements are recorded. This not very comfortable stage occurs at the start of the consultation, lasting around 5 to 15 minutes depending on the subjects, but indicates a medium type approach of quality. - Bodily pains: bad back, head and stomach…these pains undoubtedly concern the consultant. Your receptivity “captures” present or future bodily worries. Transmit your feelings and warnings with the greatest psychology. - The “hot sweats”: generally there are amplitudes of temperature in presence of a consultant; it is necessary then to consider either the hormonal aspect rather than depression. - Flashes: this is the “star” of medium phenomena. The flash, as its name indicates, is an extremely strong image, sudden and brief, in the mental plan or visually. Its intensity is such that experienced mediums don’t hesitate to affirm that which they have seen and felt. Stronger than the image or the sound, the flash brings an evidence, a certainty in the projection and details, sometimes even the dates or periods. This type of phenomena stays unfortunately quite rare and uncontrollable and it represents at maximum 3 to 5% of consultations. Those who insist on always working in ‘flash’ obviously make us smile…but to be avoided! Conclusion The medium isn’t to be learnt but to be acquired with work and in a logical succession. The Tarot is certainly the most adaptable tool to start on the medium. Moreover, don’t wait for the extraordinary! These phenomena that we come to describe, pass, for the most part, discreetly during a consultation. Very often, it is only after care that you will realise them. There is of course, a place for the fainting sensation and the flashes which won’t be forgotten in order to indicate that you are on the right track…! 467 00000-fasiculeMCT_vGB:fasiculeFRKF 21/09/11 14:37 Page 468 Achevé d’imprimer sur les presses de l’IMPRIMERIE MODERNE DE BAYEUX Z.I. - 7, rue de la Résistance - 14400 BAYEUX Septembre 2011
