Books are often dismissed by modern society, and our joint exploration hopes to foster an understanding about the physicality of these lexical specimens by considering their unique characteristics in unconventional ways. By carefully interacting and engaging with the printed works, we are striving to better understand and exploit their physical and ephemeral meanings, for us as artists and designers and for the viewing body as a whole. 4 VISUAL IDENTITY HONG KONG HONG KONG HONG KONG 香 港 香 港 HONG KONG HONG KONG 香 港 香 港 香 港 HONG KONG HONG KONG sents two cultures that have had a big impact on me. Addionally, I see things more carefully and conceptually. 51 55 Abstract Art Practicing painting is important to my artistic and conceptual thinking. Artist Statement Planning and building a city allows me to challenge my own notions of city and space. I was born and raised in Hong Kong, one of the most populated cities in the world. Having lived in this progressive and developed city for two decades, I have noticed the disconnection between people. Lacking physical contact and overrelying on technology, people lose their connection to one another and can develop a strong resistance to the city. In working with natural landscapes and cityscapes allows me to investigate my love hate relationship with the urban environment. As a result, scenery in the countryside, from movies and literature become a Utopia for me. This utopia clearly stands in contrast to the imposing cityscape. I paint with subjective landscapes in various forms: working progressively from small paintings to large paintings, then carving and hole punching. The next step in my work is the three dimensional realm. These interactions between small and large; two dimensional and three dimensional allow me to extend the possibility of painting, free from the natural limitations of two dimensional work. Thus, the idea of actualizing and preserving my visual world in these interacting forms are significant to me. I tried integrating the skills and thinking that I learned from fine art to design. The process is challenging because it required a range of techniques, from drawing and painting to photographing and photoshopping. 2012 Collaborative re-branding of non-profit organization identity and promotional experience different ways to visualize, abstract and communicate ideation for 2012 benefit showcase, Preparation of various printed materials an idea.
