APLAN
Our school NAPLAN data is included in this newsletter. We were pleased with
our NAPLAN results, as they showed strong growth and improvement for students over
time. We will be analysing our results in detail and using this analysis to review our site improvement plan and set future targets. A copy of our schools mean scores and % of students reaching
above benchmark is attached for your information. Please note all students who were exempted
from the test due to special needs including our special class students, are included in the results as
not achieving benchmark.
We would like to congratulate and acknowledge the following students who achieved in the top
bands for their year levels. This is an outstanding achievement.

NO SCHOOL 9TH SEPTEMBER
SHOW DAY
Sue Mittiga
Rooms 13 & 18 Worked together on using the Bee Bots.
Room 13 had had a bit more practice
with the Bee Bots, so they acted as
guides and tutors for the Room 18
students.
That meant that we had to know what
we were talking about too!
We used an activity
recording sheet
which had several
progressively more
complex tasks that
we had to work
through as teams.
When we created our
own maps, we had to
think about how far
the Bee Bots move
each time we
programmed one
step.
Room 18
students
learned about
what an
algorithm is and
had to create
one before they
tried it with the
Bee Bots.
Navigating the
township could
be pretty tricky at
times.
Writing an algorithm meant we had to discuss,
problem-solve and use lots of computational
thinking to be successful
At the end, we
got together to
talk about what
we’d done and
everyone hoped
to do it again
sometime.
We had some home-made maps to try out, some
purchased mats, as well as being creative with
masking tape and pop sticks.
LOTS OF FUN!
