Squiggles: All over open pattern of connected shapes: squiggles, ramps, and Greek temples. Looks like Mayan
hieroglyphs.
City Lights: All over tighter pattern of lights in windows, slanted bars, and squiggles. Woven on the same warp
as Squiggles. Inspired by Art Deco.

About my work:
These scarves and shawls are all hand woven and hand dyed. My loom has 24 harnesses instead of the more usual 4
or 8. This allows me to design highly complex structures, and to combine them in a single piece for intriguing
variations in scale, texture, and motif. My designs
are original, unique, and innovative, with images
inspired by nature, modernism, and the fabrics of
Latin American, Central Asia, and Africa. Guided
by the weave structure, I select silk fibers to
maximize visual impact and to balance drape and
stability. Hand-dying my yarns gives me complete
control of my color palette. My passion is to create
refined scarves and shawls that are beautiful to
look at and comfortable to wear.
Blocks Shawl―Vibrant Colors
Color-and-weave effect is a two-shuttle weaving technique
that I have pushed to its extremes. The technique allows,
and in fact depends on, an interaction of weaving structure
and color. I use it to produce bold patterns on a fine weave:
From a distance, you see a large graphic pattern, but the
threads are actually finely interlaced in both the black and
white, or dyed, areas. There are in effect two fabrics; one
can be cut away and the other will still hang together.
