Overdam FEATHER REED GRASS Calamagrostis acutiflora ‘Overdam’ Ice Cream Description: A shorter, upright, clumping grass with variegated foliage. The creamy white margins take on a pink flush in summer. Feathery seed heads appear in spring with purple hues. These mature to a tan color and persist all season. In early summer, tall wheat-like seed heads appear in great numbers. Makes a great rock garden plant as it prefers drier conditions. Height: 8” Width: 8-10” Zone: 4 Description: A gorgeous ornamental for shady sites. It forms a low mound with layers of cascading leaves in bright yellow and green. Requires moist soil. Clumps are slow to establish but the graceful effect is worth waiting for. Leaves are blushed with pink in the spring. Remove any all green portions of the plant as they will eventually take over. Great for rock gardens and even containers. Height: 14” Width: 14-20” Zone: 5 Description: Wispy seed heads dance above finely cut, deep green foliage. Flowers, which emerge a purple color and mature to amber, give a hazy effect above the foliage. This is best seen when planted against a dark background. Nice winter interest. Feathery red plumes sparkle in the sunshine and soften as they dry, often persisting into winter.
