In 2014, the Akron Beacon Journal marks 175 years
In 2014, the Akron Beacon Journal marks 175 years as the major
source of news and information in the Greater Akron community.
In that role, the four-time Pulitzer Prize-winning newspaper
remains true to its core mission as the Fourth Estate of a free
society, adapting to new and advanced ways to gather, report and
deliver the news.
In addition to the printed newspaper, the Akron Beacon Journal
has moved nimbly into the future, channeling award-winning
content and interactive conversation where today’s readers want it:
• iPhones/smartphones
• Laptops
• iPads
• Email
• Social media
• Akron is at the core of the
Cleveland-Akron-Canton
megaplex that is the Cleveland
DMA (Designated Market Area).
• Akron is only 40 miles south of
Cleveland; 23 miles north of
Canton.
• Akron sits in the heart of
Summit County.
• Summit County is the second
most populous county in the 17
county Cleveland DMA.
• 33% of all adults in the
Cleveland DMA live within the
ABJ Home Delivery Area.
