Arrangements have been made for a special “Senior” admission fee of $6. Adults are $10, Youth $5 — all payable at Bob McDorman’s door. In addition, Historical Society members and guests can enjoy a 6 p.m. complimentary picnic of sandwiches, chips, desserts, and beverages inside the Museum prior to a self-guided tour. Historical Society members and guests, please register in advance for the Bob McDorman Field Trip so we know how much food to bring. The dates for our Annual Museum Yard Sale are Friday, June 5 (9am-8pm) and Saturday, June 6 (10am-3pm). Proceeds from the event will help fund repairs and acquisitions in our Historical Society’s Museum. Retired pharmacist, Jack Whitaker, entertained guests with “Old Time Medical Remedies” at our Historical Society May monthly meeting at the Museum. If you have items to donate, bring them to the Museum’s Lower Level any Saturday, from 10:00am—3:00pm during May. If you cannot drop off your donations, volunteers will pick them up. The goal of the exhibit is to allow our community’s younger generation to explore and learn how children played, dressed, and lived in earlier times. If you are willing to lend our Historical Society your items from the 1900s that might fit into this exhibit, please contact Mary Herron at 614-519-9824 or email [email protected]. The name of each donor will be displayed alongside the vintage items which will be locked in the Museum’s display cases. G OT A F E W S AT U R DAY H O U R S TO S PA R E ? Do you like to socialize? Are you interested in learning more about local history? Do you have a friend who would like to accompany you? If you answered “yes”, would you and/or your friend be willing to try your hand as a Saturday Volunteer (either a 10am—12:30pm OR 12:30-3pm timeframe) at the Pickerington-Violet Township Historical Society Museum? No heavy lifting, complex computer skills, or long-term commitments are required! As a Saturday volunteer you will greet guests, provide information, and help transact gift shop sales. You will be mentored by one of our veteran volunteers who include Maggie Arendt, Cristie Hammond, Joan Heft, Mary Herron, Kristi Huskey, Greg Karoly, Mitch O’Brien, Peggy Portier, Rita Ricketts, and Fiona Spears. To lend a hand, call the Museum’s Volunteer Coordinator, Cristie Hammond, at 614-570-4074, and choose a Saturday that works for you! If you cannot reach Cristie, call Maggie Arendt at 614-507-6067. To continue to keep the Museum open five hours each Saturday — plus during special events — we need a little Saturday help from our friends! We hope to hear from you! Historical Society members can enjoy FREE food and information about Fairfield County’s Historical Parks in an open air shelter. Thursday, September 3, 6:30pm—Founders’ Day Banquet at Pickerington Senior Center. A Pickerington Bicentennial event featuring “A Tribute to Mayors of Pickerington” and dinner. Seating is limited. Labor Day Weekend, Sept 5-7, Pickerington Bicentennial Celebration on Lockville Road-Victory Park.
