We have been talking about owls and learnt that they feed on mice, rats, moles, rabbits, worms, spiders, lizards and small birds. This week, we have been learning about turkeys. We found out that a turkey is a big bird and the male is more colourful than the female. Turkeys make a ‘gobble gobble sound’ and they like shaking their feathers. A baby turkey is called a pout and a mother turkey is called a hen. A daddy turkey is called tom. Next week , we are looking forward to a nature walk to the end of the big play ground and look out for the different kinds of birds. We will then collect dry grass and build some nests. We will be feeding Mr. Feathers (our school turkey). 2 PRIMA RY NEW S PRIMARY TEAM FACE DAY This week, we have been looking at different aspects of Faces. In classes, the children have had a chance to express their ideas on the topic and have discovered that the ‘face’ is a strong tool of expression. The children appreciate that we belong to a diverse world consisting of different faces. Our faces are our identity and they convey feelings and emotions. Regardless of our nationalities, we are all unified by common features making us one global family. Enjoy reading the poem below: Be Glad Your Nose is on Your Face Be glad your nose is on your face, not pasted on some other place, for if it were where it is not, you might dislike your nose a lot. Imagine if your precious nose were sandwiched in between your toes, that clearly would not be a treat, for you'd be forced to smell your feet. Your nose would be a source of dread were it attached atop your head, it soon would drive you to despair, forever tickled by your hair. Within your ear, your nose would be an absolute catastrophe, for when you were obliged to sneeze, your brain would rattle from the breeze. Your nose, instead, through thick and thin, remains between your eyes and chin, not pasted on some other place be glad your nose is on your face! -Jennifer Huynh 3 PRIMA RY NEW S PRIMARY TEAM 2 4 EYFS: Alice, Kline, Quinn, Rufous and Daniel STARS OF THE WEEK and Emily Primary: Nicholas, Charlie, Jasper, Maya, Anthony and Ryan STARS OF THE WEEK SPECIAL MENTIONS Sikina is mentioned by Ms. Semenye for finishing all her lunch and tidying up after herself.
