Points to Ponder from Patty
Hope everyone is doing well and setting aside some time for
yourself to quilt. I know for me that time I have is like
therapy. Just the feel of the fabric is relaxing. Yes - they
say quilters are crazy and we are "crazy for fabric"!
Please read the newsletter thoroughly so that you are aware of
everything we have going on. We are a busy group this year
and hopefully everyone is having fun. The UFO Weekend in May
(Fri, 13th to Sun 15th) will be a great opportunity to work on
projects, ask help from your fellow quilters and have some
great fellowship. You can set up on Friday night and leave
everything until Sunday afternoon and then come and go as you
have opportunity.
VACANT, 2nd VP
Make sure to take the small reminder inside your newsletter
and put it someplace you see daily as a reminder of everything
coming up. Thanks Kelly for doing such an awesome job on the
newsletter.

time with my girls. Diana will be there making sure you have
a super time.

THIS AND THAT - IMPORTANT STUFF TO KNOW
♥ You can go online to view the Stitchers Newsletter at: www.hardinext.org/quilting-newsletter.asp
♥ Keep working on your small landscapes. Another day will be scheduled to bring them back in.
♥ Put your SAVE THE DATE insert on your refrigerator or bulletin board to remind you of guild activities like
workshops and UFO days. We don’t want anyone to miss out on these.
♥ If you have a Easy/Quick Block you can demo during the April meeting contact Patty or Diana.
Everyone’s help is requested and needed for more participation.
♥ The Helen Squire Live with Helen Squire and workshop scheduled for 22 and 23 July has had to be
canceled. We will try to get it rescheduled for sometime in 2012.
♥ On August 19th we will have a representative from Sulky give a lecture and on August 20th we will
have a Sit and Sew where we will learn everything about their threads and gets hands on use of them.
Laps For Vets
Thanks to everyone who came out and worked on the laps for vets projects. It was a
very productive day. If you were unable to make it and still want to provide a lap for
this project we will be collecting those 45 X 45 laps at the June Potluck meeting.
Thanks to everyone who donated fabric for this project and special thanks to Brenda
Arnett who donated batting that we used - Thanks Brenda!
Its time for a “SHOP HOP”
On April 16th we will meet at the Dollar Store/Bingo parking lot on 31W in Radcliff at 8:30am
and head north to Salem and visit Craft Town, from there we’ll go to Corydon and visit
Holly Hock Quilt Shop, then its on to The Quilters Outlet in Lewisport and if there is time
Happy Heart in Louisville. Somewhere in there we will fit lunch in. Just a reminder, if you are
on the list and can’t make it please call Patty so we don’t wait. There are 12 going currently.
Election of Officers for 2011.
We will be having nominations in April for President, 2nd Vice President and Treasurer. The
President and Treasurer will serve for 2 years and the 2nd VP will serve for one year.
Please make sure you read the by-laws and fully understand your responsibilities for that
position before you commit. We know everyone is a volunteer for these positions but it does
require a commitment in order for the guild to function well. It takes everyone to make the
guild successful. Is it your time for that commitment? If you are interested, please
contact Patty at 307-2226 or email: [email protected].
UFO WEEKEND
On Friday 13 May until Sunday afternoon 15 May, we will have the opportunity to utilize the
Extension Office for a Super UFO Weekend. Set up on Friday and leave your stuff until
Sunday when we break down - then come and go as you can to work on any project you have
ongoing. It can be a UFO, a new project, your BOM projects - whatever. This will be a
great weekend to get assistance from your fellow quilters and have a wonderful fellowship
time. Come share in our quilting craziness. Patty will be there the majority of the
weekend so you never know what might happen!! The guild will not be supplying meals due to
uncertainty of numbers but I'm sure there will be plenty of snacks and of course CHOCOLATE!
Mark this weekend on your calendar and plan to come.
MAY MEETING — SHADOW APPLIQUE MAKE-IT/TAKE-IT
If you have done this technique and would like to demonstrate the May Make-n-Take please let
Diana or Patty know asap. We have permission to use a specific pattern for this technique
and that will be provided to you. Thanks.

HEARTLAND OF KENTUCKY QUILT SHOW 2011 - UPDATE
Once again we are asking everyone to save your empty thread spools, and don’t
forget about the country store. Spring is here, it would be a great time to clean out
that sewing room/studio/cave and put all your donations to the side.
Our challenge this year is ‘Farmers Market’. You can interpret this theme anyway
you like. Pick up information at the meetings
Our next quilt show meeting is 25 April, 5:30 pm at Panera. We welcome anyone
that wants to attend and help out or just see what is going on.
We are still looking for someone that is wiling to take over running the kitchen for
Cammie. This job is a lot easier than you may think. If you think you might be
interested you can call Cammie at 763-1018 and find out what is involved or come to
the meeting on the 25th of April.
If anyone has any input or ideas for the show you can contact Tia Kennedy at
828-3901 or email at [email protected].
