Ongoing factors exist, ranging from geopolitical forces to labor relations, adding to airlines’ operational and commercial challenges and tending to have a negative effect on the industry’s margins. evaluate strategic direction and produce business plans, Seabury helps airline clients achieve their full potential. The combination of Seabury’s Business Planning Group synthesizing network optimization and Seabury APG’s revenue forecast expertise provides the foundation for robust business plans enabling airlines and their stakeholders to dramatically improve returns. Seabury has successfully completed strategy review and business plan development/evaluation assignments for a wide range of airline clients, in a variety of challenging situations. Across the globe, the competitive landscape is varied. In some areas industry deregulation and LCC incursion have created an environment which has challenged the status quo. In other areas the aviation industry is still highly regulated and state-controlled. Aviation is highly political, with foreign ownership laws making true consolidation on a global scale harder to achieve. Revenue improvement Increased revenue through improvements in pricing, revenue management and sales & distribution effectiveness is reliably one of the best contributors to an airline’s bottom line. Seabury helps its clients to harness world-leading commercial intelligence systems and processes in order to determine and achieve or exceed an airline’s fair revenue share. Through well planned and executed commercial improvement efforts airlines can generate revenue growth up to 4x capacity growth. We also see trends in the industry that are prevalent in other sectors: a need for further segmentation and differentiation and the growing reliance on technology and data solutions to augment demand for increased customer experience levels. Technological advances in particular are unlocking additional value across the industry, ranging from providing a differentiated customer offering to helping airlines truly understand who the customer is and how to maximize revenue generation from them. The industry has come a long way since its beginning. Opportunities are available for those positioned to seize them, and at Seabury we feel privileged to partner with our colleagues at airlines to help shape their future.
