THE ISLIP HORSEMEN'S ASSOCIATION
The Islip Horsemen's Association is very proud of our neighborly reputation. The
not-for-profit club run by volunteers was founded by, but not restricted to, residents
of Islip Town. The club is involved in community affairs that affect horse ownership,
the education of horse owners, and provides a social forum. It also has a Youth
Group that holds their own meetings with activities geared to the younger members. Open meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 7:30 PM at the
Bohemia Recreation Center usually combined with an informative lecture. Our
monthly newsletter, The "IHA News", contains articles, letters, artwork, and information on upcoming events and meetings. The club has its own drill team called
"Spirit of Long Island", open to English and western riders. They perform for the
public several times yearly, (they have performed at the Belmont Fair, and the
Hampton Classic). Members participate in parades; organize shows, special
events, clinics, trips, parties and a year end awards dinner dance.
