Proud to be IBS. www.ibs-b.hu “I chose IBS for its good reputation, the internationally recognized British degree and a study abroad possibility with Erasmus. However, beyond these attractive features what I loved most in the end was the way we studied: sharing our thinking about real business issues in small groups, developing our self-confidence by doing loads of presentations, getting support from dedicated professors and inevitably becoming friends with people from many different countries.” Jovana Medenica, Montenegro WE ARE IBS. More importantly, however, this degree is also a globally accepted and highly valued door-opener for our graduates to the best positions the world over. The University of Buckingham Founded in 1976 by a group of former Oxford academics, Buckingham is the first and only independent university in the United Kingdom with a Royal Charter. Today The University of Buckingham is a top-ranking university: it has come 16th out of 120 institutions in The Guardian’s University Guide 2013 league table and 21st out of 116 in The Times’s 2012 Good University Guide. Data released by the Higher Education Statistics Agency in 2013 shows 96.9 per cent of graduates of The University of Buckingham last year have secured employment or are in further study since leaving the university, which makes it the number one UK university in terms of graduate employability, right before the University of Oxford. Campuses in Budapest and Vienna The latest stage in our internationalisation drive has been the opening of our campus in Vienna, Austria. This means that IBS is not only international because of the 80 nationalities present in our student body, but also offers its programmes in two countries. Excellent Career Prospects at IBS The degree, the international experience, and the practice-based teaching and learning will combine to enhance our students’ employability. Employers are aware of the high standards our graduates achieve. As a result, overwhelming majority of our graduates go into work or further study within three months of graduation. International Exposure Our highly international student population creates a lively, cosmopolitan atmosphere where students can do networking and learn to respect diversity. (The ratio of international students on BSc is above 50% and on MSc above 75%) We encourage our students to prepare for the global labour market by providing them language lessons, by giving access to the expertise and advice of our global alumni and by offering specialist career contacts and advice. 5 “To begin with, I was always interested in arts, and I also wanted to learn management. At IBS I have the opportunity to learn both by having very good subjects. Moreover, IBS offers us a great international atmosphere with friendly students, teachers and staff. I believe that IBS can support my future career as an arts manager and give me an unforgettable experience.” Komporday Rita, Hungary ACCREDITATIONS OF IBS GUARANTEES OF QUALITY EDUCATION Proof of quality Accreditation of universities offers you a guarantee of the quality of education on offer, the facilities, the staff and the academic programmes. The courses are held by professionals whose background and insight make classes worth attending. Budapest is the best city for students in Europe, and the combination of such a unique environment, student life and degree has proved to be the best career choice I have made.” Fanton Fábián, Hungary BACHELOR’S PROGRAMMES: THEORY, PRACTICAL KNOWLEDGE, STUDY ABROAD AND WORK PLACEMENT Undergraduate Programmes All our bachelor’s programmes are 3-year full-time courses of modular studies leading to the Bachelor of Science degree conferred by The University of Buckingham. The language of tuition is English on all programmes. They start with a common first year that will allow you to make a decision with regard to your final programme choice as late as the end of the first year. In the sixth semester you will have to choose between doing a study-abroad or an internship, or to combine the two through undertaking a work placement in a third country. A complex personality and competence development curriculum is an integral part of each programme. ERASMUS Exchange Coming to IBS will open up a number of opportunities for you to study abroad, without adding to the length of your studies. ERASMUS is the mobility programme of the EU for university students, teachers and staff. At least one semester abroad is open to all IBS students during their studies. ERASMUS even provides for a grant that is currently around EUR 600 a month to cover living costs abroad. We are happy to welcome over 100 students a year who come from our 68 ERASMUS partner universities. Our partners include high-ranking universities in European countries. Work Placement Optional work placement in the sixth semester of your studies is an excellent opportunity for testing your strengths, showing your abilities and more often than not, finding your workplace. In recent years, close to 40 per cent of our students have found a job upon graduation at their placement organisation. Combining outward mobility with work placement is also an opportunity you may consider: we can offer a steadily increasing number of third-country placement positions to our students, also supported by ERASMUS grant. Company Network Our partners not only include large multinational companies, but also small businesses, the not-for-profit sector, and non-governmental organisations at national and regional levels. This engagement enables us to shape, inform and evaluate what we do – ensuring that your studies reflect current thinking in business practice. 9 “The opportunity that IBS’s management programme provided for me is really rewarding. In a 2005 study of 127 world cities, the Economist Intelligence Unit ranked the city first for quality of life. 49 “It was by accident that I came to IBS - largely on the insistence of my parents. Since then I can feel it more than anyone that it was a good decision to choose IBS, since I have acquired so much knowledge and experience with the help of the school that wouldn’t have been possible elsewhere. IBS has changed and broadened my sphere of interests.” Lantos Linda, Hungary BUDAPEST RESIDENCE HALL: ALL THE COMFORT YOU NEED ON CAMPUS Residence Hall Situated directly by the River Danube, the residence hall offers comfortable accommodation in well-equipped en suite rooms with high-speed internet access to international as well as local students and visiting tutors.
