Employee Experience
Learning & Development
Culture at ConAgra Foods
We are passionate about making the food you love even better. Food you turn
to every day, food you count on as part of your life. Through all of this, we live
and breathe our operating principles of simplicity, accountability, collaboration
and imagination. These key principles have helped us to build a strong culture
dedicated to working smarter.
We nurture a progressive spirit — seeking opportunities for improvement at
every turn, discovering breakthrough ideas and leading in an ever-changing
environment. You’ll have the opportunity to work with top-tier talent and be
supported in architecting your own career.
We understand the importance of recognizing talent, which is why we’ve
created the ConAgra Foods Extraordinary Every Day employee recognition
program. Our employees create business outcomes every day that positively
impact the company and improve people’s lives. This program allows us to
recognize results and reinforce behaviors that are
aligned with our culture and represent how we
interact with each other in pursuit of our business
goals. All employees and interns are eligible.
More than 13,000 employees received more
than 52,500 awards from their peers through
our new e2 recognition program, launched in FY11.
At ConAgra Foods, we place a high value on leadership qualities because
we are all leaders in our positions. We look for leaders who can embrace our
“ways we win” principles as key ingredients to success. When leaders teach
and trust, push for personal excellence, constructively challenge, see the
big picture and think two steps ahead, they lead themselves, others and
the business to succeed.
Damita B.,
Senior Organizational Development Analyst
Gary Rodkin, CEO
In FY13, 10,612 employees were promoted or transferred into
new positions. We invest in our employees to help them grow and succeed
through development and formalized training programs. Learning and
development is an essential part of our workday.
In FY13, ConAgra Foods employees completed more than 366,000
hours of learning. More than 9,600 different learning and development
opportunities are available via instructors, online resources and blended
learning approaches.
Development opportunities include:
ConAgra Foods University, with its functional academies and online
learning courses
Professional career planning and development tools
Experiential learning through challenging developmental assignments
and on-the-job training
Use of a team of cross-functional, certified coaches and mentors to assist
with professional growth
iNourish is an employee development program designed to enhance a best

Leadership
As an Employee Resource Network
(ERN) member, the Leadership &
Development training I received was
one of the most valuable sessions
allowing everyone to share the
value of cultural differences.
We’re working hard to create a culture of
trust with a passion for winning and enabling
people to make an impact at all levels.
I think the company has done a nice job in not only defining our vision
or strategy, but also defining the behaviors that will give us the best chance
of executing against that strategy. It also builds a culture that we all feel
energized by. How we interact with our peers, our subordinates, with our
supervisors, etc., that’s what drives our culture.
Doug L., Senior Vice President, Finance

of the business and meet great people
who are passionate about what they do.

!
There’s a reason we were voted one of the Top 40
undergraduate internship programs in the
country by Bloomberg Businessweek. An internship
at ConAgra Foods is not only an opportunity to work for
a Fortune 500 company — it’s also an awesome way for
us to bring in new and fresh ideas that can truly impact
our business.
Our interns are exposed to all aspects of the packaged
foods industry and leading-edge technologies, and
they have a voice in important decision-making.
With an internship at ConAgra Foods, there is always
the potential to transition into a full-time position after
graduation. In 2012, we offered 64 percent of our
eligible interns a full-time opportunity.

To ensure interns have the opportunity to get to
know one another during their internship, we

BRUNCH
At the end of the summer, we have a
recognition brunch to present each intern with
a certificate of completion and congratulate
everyone. We share lessons learned and
business objectives and wrap up the
day with a fun and relaxing outing.
My summer internship was a great
experience — rewarding on so many levels.
Not only because I was challenged each day
with my project, but also because of the
ways I was able to get involved in the
community. I particularly enjoyed The Open
Door Mission volunteer event because I
was able to see the impact my few hours
of service had on the efforts to feed
Omaha’s homeless population.

Interning is similar to dating — you have the opportunity to experience the real world for three months and fall
in love! I knew ConAgra Foods had everything I was looking for in a prospective company in just 12 weeks — the
opportunity to develop and grow, flexible work schedules and phenomenal people who encouraged and pushed my
limits. I know ConAgra Foods takes interns’ recommendations seriously because I am here full-time now and have
had the opportunity to see some of those recommendations implemented.

Our Corporate Citizenship Philosophy
Another reason to feel good
about the food you love.
The people of ConAgra Foods create
everyday food in extraordinary ways.
That means making food that’s delicious,
safe, nutritious and convenient, while
collaborating with others like farmers,
suppliers, customers and people who
love our food. We’re looking forward to
making food for generations to come
and doing so in a way that’s not only good
for business, but good for you, good for
the community and good for the planet.
Good for You
We’re talking about you, the
person who loves our food. We
want nothing more than to make
safe, delicious and nutritious
foods while providing the
information you need to make
choices for a healthy lifestyle.
Areas of focus:
Food safety and quality
Health and nutrition
Consumer communication
Good for the
Community
This includes employees,
investors, suppliers and
business partners, as well
as the communities where
we live and operate.
Areas of focus:
Good for
the Planet
Air. Water. Natural resources.
These are things we all share.
And, we want to do our part to
make sure we can keep doing
so for a long, long time.
Areas of focus:
Our people
Climate and energy
Our customers and suppliers
Water resources
Giving back to our
communities
Materials and waste

engagement
We are building a culture where all of our employees can be authentic and know their
diverse thoughts and capabilities are valued. We have built a strong business case
for culture and inclusion, which has enabled us to focus on attracting, retaining and
empowering employees from all walks of life. These employees help us forge stronger
relationships in the community, in the marketplace and with our stakeholders.
Our commitment to culture and inclusion extends
to our communities through sponsorships and
memberships with several national organizations
with an extensive focus on inclusion.
National Urban League (NUL)
National Council of La Raza (NCLR)
Culture
Inclusion
Employee Resource Networks (ERNs)
ERNs are a key ingredient in our recipe for creating a diverse and inclusive culture. At ConAgra
Foods, we embrace these networks to provide organizational and business insights to deliver
leadership development experiences, create an environment for exploring our uniquenesses and
to provide community support through volunteer opportunities in the communities where we live
and work. Each of our ERNs bring together employees from all cultures, backgrounds and lifestyles.
Currently, there are six ERNs with hundreds of members throughout the company:
Women’s Foodservice Forum (WFF)
ConAgra Asian Network (CAN)
Illuminations — LGBT employees & allies
National Hispanic Corporate Council (NHCC)
ConAgra Black Employees Network (CBEN)
ConAgra Women’s Network (CWN)
ConAgra Latino Network (CLN)
ConAgra Young Professionals Network (CYPN)
National Business & Disability Council (NBDC)
Network of Executive Women (NEW)
Alliance for Work-Life Progress (AWLP)
Enactus
On the local level, a number of ConAgra Foods
plants and facilities have developed partnerships
with community organizations. Additionally,
ConAgra Foods is active with Working Mother
Media’s inclusion council, known as Diversity
Best Practices (DBP), and the Community and
Public Issues Council of the Conference Board.
ConAgra Foods supports culture and inclusion
in many more ways, such as its marketing practices
and its employee development and supplier diversity
programs. We were even recognized by Universum
as Top 100 Employer for Women MBA’s.
Each of these networks receives support from an executive sponsor — a senior leader within
the company — to guide their personal and professional development.
Candidate Connect
Candidate Connect is a unique program that offers prospective employees the opportunity to meet
with a member of one of ConAgra Foods’ Employee Resource Networks (ERNs) to learn more about
the culture of the company.
If you are considering working at ConAgra Foods, you may request a meeting with any of ConAgra
Foods’ six ERNs. Although these meetings have no bearing on the actual interview process and do
not figure into hiring considerations, they give you the opportunity to relax and talk candidly about
ConAgra Foods and city culture in a comfortable environment.
Culture & Inclusion External Activities
ConAgra Foods bolsters its diverse, talented workforce with a far-reaching recruiting program.
To help find and recruit the best people, we partner with such organizations as:
National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA)
National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)
The Consortium
Leading the ConAgra Asian Network (CAN)
has been a privilege that has allowed me to gain
leadership experience as well as work with ConAgra
Foods executives to achieve common goals both
internal and external to the company. Through CAN,
my team and I have been able to help the company’s
innovation and presence in the community.

The ERN presence was a big factor in my
decision to join the ConAgra Foods family. To me
it meant that not only was culture and inclusion a
priority, but that employees had a voice and were
encouraged and empowered to plan and participate
in company and community events on topics that
were important to them. The ERNs offer opportunities
for individual growth and development but also
helps to enrich the company’s culture.
I’m so grateful for the opportunities and exposure
I’ve been provided through the ConAgra Young

to not only develop and hone my leadership skills,
but meet some amazing individuals in the company.
Through differing perspectives — from new hires just

impact on my career and personal well-being.

plan that offers employees the opportunity to save pre-tax dollars for

You may purchase supplemental life insurance equal to one, two, three,
four or five times your salary, up to a maximum of $1,500,000. The

You automatically receive AD&D insurance for yourself at no cost when

in the event of your accidental death.
Reduced benefits are paid for accidents resulting in the loss of limbs

dependents. You pay for 100 percent of this coverage.
