Anreise und Unterkünfte in Hannover
Das diesjährige deutsche Treffen zur Lumineszenz- und Elektronenspinresonanzdatierung
2009 (LED 2009) findet im Leibniz-Institut für Angewandte Geophysik (LIAG) in Hannover
statt. Das LIAG befindet sich im GeoZentrum Hannover. Hier befindet sich auch die
Bundesanstalt für Geowissenschaften und Rohstoffe (BGR) und das Landesamt für Bergbau
und Energie (LBEG).
Hannover, Metropole Niedersachsens, liegt verkehrsgünstig im Norden von Deutschland.
Hier kreuzen sich die Autobahnen der Ost-West Routen A2 Berlin-Dortmund und die NordSüd Route A7 Hamburg-Kassel. Der Flughafen ist über regelmäßige Verbindungen an die
Drehkreuze Frankfurt und München an das internationale Flugnetz angeschlossen. Die
Eisenbahn verbindet Hannover mit stündlichen ICE und IC Verbindungen mit den
Großstädten und Ballungszentren in Deutschland und Europa.

Informationen zum öffentlichen Nahverkehr in Hannover findet man im Internet unter
http://www.gvh.de Die Stadtbahnlinie 3 fährt vom Zentrum bis kurz vor das GeoZentrum.
Gäste aus dem Andor Hotel Plaza können im „Hauptbahnhof“ und Gäste im Haus Martens
können an der Haltestelle „Lister Platz“ einsteigen. Mit der Stadtbahn Richtung
„Altwarmbüchen“ bis zur Haltestelle „Lahe“ fahren (Fahrzeit max. 15 Minuten). An der
Haltestelle „Lahe“ kann man die Busse 127 Richtung „Pferdeturm“ oder 133 Richtung
„Hinrichsring“ bis zur Haltestelle „Pappelwiese/Geozentrum“ nehmen. Da es nur eine
Haltestelle ist, kann man diesen Weg auch zu Fuß gehen, dauert etwa 10 Minuten. Das
GeoZentrum ist nach der Unterführung auf der rechten Seite. Das kleine Tor im Zaun ist ein
offizieller Zugang und sollte genutzt werden, da der Weg zum Haupttor sonst einmal um das
halbe Gelände herum führt. Der Haupteingang befindet sich dann linker Hand.

Aus dem Stadtzentrum kommend über die Podbielskistraße Richtung Lahe, Buchholz fahren.
Diese wird in ihrem Verlauf zur Buchholzer Straße. Das GeoZentrum ist hinter der
Autobahnbrücke (A37) auf der rechten Seite. Kostenlose Parkmöglichkeiten bestehen auf dem
Gelände des GeoZentrums und im eigenen Parkhaus auf der gegenüberliegenden Straßenseite.
Über die Autobahn kommend fährt man auf der A2 Richtung Berlin oder Dortmund. Am
Kreuz Hannover-Buchholz dann auf die A37 bzw. B3 Richtung Hannover-Messe. An der
Ausfahrt Hannover-Misburg fährt man ab und hält sich links, dann ist man schon auf der
Buchholzer Straße.
Unterkünfte
Hannover bietet als internationaler Messeplatz zahlreiche Hotels verschiedenster Preisklassen.
Für die LED 2009 haben wir bei zwei Hotels Zimmer zu Sonderkonditionen reserviert. Die
Hotels befinden sich alle in der Nähe des Stadtzentrums. Von dort ist das LIAG leicht und
schnell mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln zu erreichen. Die Buchung nehmen die Teilnehmer
unter Angabe des Stichwortes bitte selbst vor.

sind hier begrenzt.

TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION IN HANOVER
German meeting on Luminescence and Electron spin resonance Dating 2009 (LED 2009) will take place at the
Leibniz Institute for Applied Geophysics (LIAG), which is located in the GeoZentrum, Hanover. The centre also
occupies the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) and the Geological Survey of
Lower Saxony (LBEG).
Hanover, the capital city of Lower Saxony, is a convenient location in the north of Germany. The city is well
connected with highways to the east-west route A2 Dortmund-Berlin and the north-south route A7 HamburgKassel. The airport has regular flights to the hubs of Frankfurt and Munich and also other European destinations.
The railway operates express trains at every hour via Hanover to the major cities and urban centres in Germany
and Europe.
HOW TO REACH LIAG…?
With public transport
Information concerning public transport system in Hanover can be found on the webpage
http://www.gvh.de/index.html?&L=1 One can reach in to the venue from the centre via tram line number 3 to the
direction of “Altwarmbüchen”, which goes via Lahe, which is very close to the GeoZentrum. The guests in the
“Andor Plaza Hotel” can use the station “Central Station” and the guests in the “Haus Martens” can use the
station “Lister Platz” to get in to the tram. It takes around 15 minutes with the line 3 direction “Altwarmbüchen”
to reach the station “Lahe”. From “Lahe” you can change to the bus line 127 direction “Pferdeturm” or bus line
133 direction “Hinrichsring” and get down at the next stop “Pappelwiese/Geozentrum” where you will find your
destination on the right side to the travel direction. It is also convenient to walk to GeoZentrum from “Lahe”
which takes only about 10 minutes. When you walk through the lane GeoZentrum is on the right hand side after
the subway. The small gate in the fence is an official access and could be used. Otherwise the way to the main
gate will take you half around the building. The main entrance is on the left hand side.
By car
From the city centre you can reach GeoZentrum via “Podbielskistrasse” to the direction of “Lahe”. This is in its
course to “Buchholzer Strasse”. The GeoZentrum is just after the motorway bridge (A37) on the right side. You
can find free parking in the compound of GeoZentrum and in our own car park on the opposite side of the road.
Via motorway you can reach GeoZentrum by A2 towards Berlin and Dortmund. From the cross-HanoverBuchholz, then you have to follow A37 / B3 in the direction of Hannover-Messe. Exit at lane “HanoverMisburg” and keep to the left, then you're on the road “Buchholzer Strasse”.
Accommodations
As an international destination of exhibitions and trade, Hanover City offers numerous hotels of various price
ranges. For the LED 2009 we reserved rooms at two hotels with special rates. The hotels are all located near the
city centre. From there the LIAG can be reached easily and quickly by public transport. The participants are
requested to make the booking using the keyword “LED 2009” by themselves.
