und exklusive Sonderfläche
R
und 750 Aussteller aus 35 Ländern – angesichts dieser Angebotsvielfalt stellt sich
sicherlich der ein oder andere IFMA-Besucher die Frage nach dem „Wo anfangen?“. Dieser
hit guide liefert die Antwort. Er beinhaltet 50 herausragende IFMA-Produkte, die einen genaueren
Blick wert sind. Wer die hit guide-Produkte gesehen hat, kennt einige Highlights verschiedener
Segmente und kann sich dann gezielt einzelnen
Themen widmen. Vor drei Jahren als Informationsmedium nur für Journalisten ins Leben gerufen, ist der hit guide so gut angenommen worden, dass wir ihn ab sofort auch an Fachbesucher
verteilen.
Die Teilnahme am hit guide ist völlig kostenlos. Interessierte IFMA-Aussteller haben in den
vergangenen Wochen Fotos und Texte von vielen interessanten Neuheiten eingesandt. Eine
Fachjury hat daraus die 50 hit guide-Produkte
bestimmt. Die Auswahl ist nicht leicht gefallen,
die Jury-Mitglieder haben kontrovers diskutiert

– über technische und gestalterische Innovationen, neue Materialien oder außergewöhnliche
und spannende Ideen.
Seit diesem Jahr werden die „auserwählten“
hit guide-Produkte zwei Mal hochwertig präsentiert: Sie finden nicht nur Aufnahme in diese Broschüre, sondern werden darüber hinaus auf einer
exklusiven Sonderfläche ausgestellt. Diese liegt
mitten auf dem neuen Messeboulevard, begrüßt
also sozusagen die IFMA-Besucher noch vor den
Hallen. Sie ist außerdem nur den hit guide-Produkten vorbehalten und ermöglicht einen im
wahrsten Sinne des Wortes unbezahlbaren Auftritt. Schauen Sie doch mal vorbei!

„hit guide“ highlight brochure
and exclusive special area
W
ith some 750 exhibitors from 35 countries in attendance, many IFMA visitors are undoubtedly asking themselves “Where do I begin?”. It’s certainly a legitimate
question, given the huge variety of products on display. However help is on hand in the form of this hit
guide. The guide concentrates on 50 outstanding
IFMA products that deserve a closer look. Having
taken a look at the hit guide products, the reader
will already be familiar with some of the highlights
of specific segments. As a result, he or she can now
investigate individual products or topic areas in
depth in a targeted manner. Originally conceived
as an information medium for journalists, the first
hit guide was produced three years ago. However,
the response to the publication has been so positive that we have now decided to make it available
to trade visitors too.
Participation in the hit guide is completely free
of charge. During the last few weeks, IFMA exhibitors have been sending us photos and texts descri-
bing many innovative new products. Having examined these entries, an expert jury has now selected the top 50 hit guide products. And the selection process was anything but easy. In fact, the jury
members conducted many an intense debate about
the technical or design aspects of a particular innovation, the advantages of a new material, or the
virtues of an unusual and exciting new concept.
Starting this year, the selected hit guide products will be honoured twice: In addition to appearing in this brochure, they will also be showcased
on an exclusive area specially set up for this purpose. This area is located in the centre of the new
Trade Fair Boulevard and thus greets the IFMA visitors before they reach the halls. By the way, it is
specially reserved for the hit guide products and is
definitely worth seeing. So why not check it out?

Hier geht’s lang!
Übersichtlich, aktuell, praktisch – mit den neuen
überarbeiteten ADFC-Radtourenkarten, herausgegeben vom Bielefelder Verlag, sind Radreisende
immer einen Tritt voraus. Neben den zahlreichen
überregionalen Radfernwegen sind auch regionale Routen in den ADFC-Karten dargestellt. Der
Nutzer erfährt, wo es sich gut fahren lässt, wie
die Wege beschaffen und wie stark sie befahren
sind und mit welchem Gelände zu rechnen ist.
So erkennen Familien genauso wie Rennradfahrer leicht die für sie geeigneten Radstrecken. Ein
UTM-Koordinatengitter ermöglicht jetzt ebenfalls
die GPS-Navigation. Um seine genaue Position zu
bestimmen, muss der Radler lediglich per GPSGerät seinen Standort ermitteln und die Werte
mit der Karte abgleichen. Die ersten sechs ADFCRadtourenkarten sind bereits im Handel erhältlich, bis 2008 sollen alle 27 Kartenblätter überarbeitet sein.

Clearly structured, up-to-date, practical – the new
revised ADFC bike tour maps published by Bielefelder Verlag ensure that bikers are always one step
or one pedal ahead. In addition to the numerous
national bicycle routes, regional routes have also
been included on the ADFC maps. The user finds
out where riding conditions are good, what the
quality and characteristics of the bike routes and
paths are like, how much they are used and what
kind of terrain is to be expected. As a result, families as well as racing cyclists can easily recognize
and determine the bicycle routes which are suitable for them. A UTM coordinates grid now also
ensures GPS navigation. In order to determine their
exact position, the cyclist only has to determine
his/her location via their GPS appliance and compare the readings with the map. The first six ADFC
bike tour maps are already available from bookshops and the retail trade; all 27 map sheets are
set to be revised by 2008.

In einem schlichten, robusten Hartschalentrolley
mit Teleskopgriff und zwei Leichtlaufrollen ist die
gut ausgestattete Fahrradwerkstatt mit 67 Tools
untergebracht. Die hochwertigen Werkzeuge von
Gedore und Parktool sind auf zwei Werkzeugtafeln benutzerfreundlich mit Modulen und Pockets
befestigt, so dass fehlende Teile sofort auffallen.
Alle gängigen Werkzeuge für anfallende Schraubund Einstellarbeiten wie z. B. Spezialwerkzeuge für
Innenlager-Montage und Ritzelwechsel, spezielle
Bowdenzug-Zange und Drehmomentschlüssel
sind vorhanden. Der Koffer ist mit zwei abschließbaren Kippschlössern sowie einem speziellen Zahlenschloss gesichert. In der Bodenschale bleibt
Platz für Ersatzteile, Putzmittel und Lappen mit
variabler Einteilung. Eine ideale Anschaffung für
Teams, Vereine und Reiseveranstalter.

A rolling garage
The well-equipped bicycle garage with 67 tools is
accommodated in a plain, robust hard-shell trolley
with a telescopic handle and two light, easy-running castors. The high-quality tools from Gedore
and Parktool are mounted on two tool panels in
a user-friendly arrangement using modules and
pockets so that any missing parts are immediately
noticed. All the usual, familiar tools are included
for any screw-driving and adjustment work to be
done, such as special tools for inside bearing installation and pinion change-over, special Bowden
wire pliers and a dynamometric key. In addition the
whole unit is safe and secure thanks to two secure
pull-down locks as well as a special combination
lock. In the base shell there is room for spare parts,
cleaning agents and rags with a variable distribution. An ideal acquisition for teams, associations,
clubs and tour organizers.

For more than 20 years the manufacturer with tradition, Bauer, has had the Apocalypse line in its
range. The main characteristics are robustness and
select high-quality components at an attractive
price. These features are complemented by the
racy and exquisite look in deep black. The Apocalypse feels at home in every terrain: on the way
to the supermarket round the corner or cycling
to work, but also on field and woodland paths it
cuts an attractive figure. The 28” aluminium frame

Multitalent mit i-motion
Was ist es denn nun das Cambridge da Curve,
ein Trekking- oder ein Citybike? Die Optik mit
Nabenschaltung lässt auf ein Citybike schließen, doch bei genauem Hinsehen weist die neue
i-motion-Nabe von SRAM neun Gänge auf und
zwar neun unterschiedliche Gänge ohne Überschneidungen wie bei Kettenschaltungen. Keine
verwirrenden Tastenschalter, sondern ein simpler
Drehgriff übernimmt die Bedienung. Dazu kommt
noch die einstellbare RST-Federgabel Trendy und
ein Shimano-Nabendynamo, der den Pilot-Halogenscheinwerfer von Basta und das Standrücklicht mit Strom versorgt. Ein verstellbarer Vorbau
und die Cushy-ST-Federsattelstütze punkten auf
der Komfortseite. Langfinger schreckt das TrelockRahmenschloss ab. Alles in allem ist das Cambridge da Curve ein Multitalent, denn es kombiniert die besten Eigenschaften von Trekking- und
Citybike.

Multi-talent with i-motion
So what is it now, the Cambridge da Curve, a trekking or city bike? Its appearance with a hub gear
system would tend to indicate a city bike, but when
you take a closer look, the new i-motion hub from
SRAM reveals nine gears, and in actual fact nine
different speeds without any overlapping as is the
case with derailleur systems. No confusing button-switches, but a simple grip shift system controls the bike’s functions. On top of this there is
the adjustable trendy RST suspension fork and a
Shimano hub dynamo which powers the Pilot halogen front-lamp from Basta and the parking rear
light. The adjustable front section and the CushyST suspension saddle post really score on the comfort side, while thieves are deterred by the Trelock
frame lock. All in all, the Cambridge da Curve is a
multi-talent, because it combines the best features
and characteristics of a trekking and city bike.

Weiß mit schwarzen Tupfen sind auch Kühe,
aber BerGaMont zeigt mit dem neuen Dolce
Carbon eine ungewöhnliche Carbonoptik. Nur
in der Gabel und im Hinterbau spart die strahlend weiße Lackierung Stellen aus, die das edle
Material gewissermaßen als Understatement
zeigen. Kombiniert wird der schicke Rahmen mit
der innovativen SRAM-Force, ebenfalls mit einigen Carbonelementen und sehr leichten Mavic
Ksyrium ES-Laufrädern (mit Carbonteilen an der
Nabe). Step by Step zeigt der Hamburger Hersteller, dass es ihm beim Thema Rennrad wirklich
ernst ist: Er erschließt sich langsam aber sicher
das gehobene Preissegment. Über die Reifenfarbe
in rot lässt sich allerdings streiten, befand die Jury,
aber die sind ja schnell gewechselt.

Cows are also white with black spots, but with the
new Dolce Carbon, BerGaMont is presenting an
exceptional carbon look. Only the forks and the
rear section have been spared a little from the radiant white lacquering, enabling the elegant carbon
to impress an understatement. The chic, stylish
fame is combined with the innovative SRAM Force,
also incorporating some carbon features and very
light Mavic Ksyrium ES wheels (with carbon elements on the hub). Step by step the Hamburg
manufacturer is showing that they are taking the
racing bike theme really seriously and are slowly
but surely opening up the top-end price category.
There is however some disagreement about the
red tires, as the jury found, but they can be quikkly changed.

Der Schweizer E-Bike-Hersteller Biketec AG präsentiert für die Saison 2007 ein E-Bike-Tandem.
Die oftmals älteren Tandemnutzer haben damit
noch einen dritten Mann an Bord, der ihnen hilft,
wenn’s schwer wird. Die neue S-Serie setzt fort,
was mit der T-Serie 2005 begonnen wurde: Eine
Verjüngung des Radtyps: Neue E-Bikes sind nicht
nur technisch auf höchstem Niveau, sondern richten sich als sportliche Allrounder durch hohe Leistung und viel Sportlichkeit ebenso an ein jüngeres (oder jung gebliebenes) Publikum. Neben dem
optischen Tuning wurde auch die Elektronik des
E-Motors auf die sportliche Nutzung optimiert
und unterstützt nun bis 85 Pedalumdrehungen
pro Minute. Die S-Serie hat je nach Akku und Fahrweise eine Reichweite von bis zu 60 Kilometern.
Das Tandem wird ab März 2007 lieferbar sein.

The Swiss E-Bike manufacturer Biketec AG is presenting an E-Bike Tandem for the 2007 season. The
often older Tandem users thus have a third man on
board who helps them out when the going gets
tough. The new S-Series is carrying on from where
the T-Series 2005 left off: a rejuvenation of the bike
model: new E-Bikes are not only at the highest level
technically, but as all-rounders with a high performance and lots of sporty features, are also directed at younger (or young-at-heart) riders. In addition to the optical tuning, the electronics in the Emotor have also been optimized to sports-based
applications and now support up to 85 pedal revolutions per minute. Depending on the rechargeable
battery and the way it is ridden, the S-Series has a
range of up to 60 km. The tandem will be available
from March 2007.

BUMM macht bang!
Sie fahren nachts über die Felder und sehen
einen superhellen Lichtkegel, der Ihnen entgegen
kommt. Es ist weder ein Auto noch ein Ufo sondern ein Radler mit der neuen Big Bang von Busch
& Müller. Es handelt sich um den ersten High Performance-Gasentladungsscheinwerfer (100 Lux),
der auch die Anforderungen der StVZO für den
Straßenverkehr erfüllt. Der computerberechnete
Reflektor bewirkt eine optimale Lichtverteilung,
ohne zu blenden. Die Gasentladungsbirne verschleißt nicht und leuchtet mit dem zigarettenschachtelgroßen Lithium-Ionen-Akku bis zu 4,5
Stunden. Elektronische Laderegelung und Tiefentladeschutz sowie Rest-Kapazitätsanzeige im
Scheinwerfer sind weitere Highlights. Der Strahler ist dreh- und abnehmbar und komplett gegen
Wasser abgedichtet. Eine Montage ist auf und
unter dem Lenker möglich.

You are riding across the fields at night and you see
an ultra-bright ball of light coming towards you.
It is neither a car nor a UFO but a cyclist using the
new Big Bang from Busch & Müller. We are talking about the first High-Performance electric
discharge front lamp (100 Lux), which also meets
the requirements of the Road Traffic Licensing Act
(StVZO). The computer-calculated reflector produces optimum light distribution without dazzling.
The electric discharge bulb does not wear out, and
with the cigarette packet-sized lithium-ion rechargeable battery it delivers light for up to 4.5 hours.
Electronic charging control and total discharging
protection as well as a remaining power-level display in the front lamp are further highlights. The
light can be swivelled, is removable and completely waterproof. The unit can be installed on and
beneath the handlebars.

Nein, es ist nicht nur ein Rückstrahler, es ist ein
richtiges Rücklicht! Mit dem neuen ultraflachen
Gepäckträger-Diodenrücklicht Toplight Flat plus
(ca. 117 x 50 x 20 mm) von Busch & Müller
braucht man sich keine Sorgen mehr um beschädigte Rücklichter zu machen. Das extrem flache
Gehäuse schmiegt sich so an den Gepäckträger an, dass es kaum übersteht. Mit elektronischer Standlichtautomatik über einen Kondensator (kein Akku, keine Batterie erforderlich) und
extrem hellem Lichtaustritt bei 220 Grad rundum

No, it is not only a rear light, it is a proper rear
light! With the new Toplight Flat plus ultra-flat
rear diode light for carriers (approx. 117 x 50 x 20
mm) from Busch & Müller, you no longer need to
worry about damaged rear lights. The extremely
flat casing matches the form of the carrier so well
that there is hardly any protrusion. With an automatic electronic parking light which operates using
a capacitor (no rechargeable battery, no battery
required) and the extremely bright light output at
220 degrees with all-round visibility, it offers unbeatable safety features. Red rear reflectors are integrated beneath the exquisite-looking clear glass
cover. The plug-in contacts for power and earthing
connections are located in the centre of the unit.

Be it in the city or on tours, the Street 3 Ultra from
Cannondale is an attractive-looking bike. The bike
was developed in accordance with the Cannondale
System-Integration philosophy. 50-mm Headshok
forks, hub dynamo, Schwalbe tires, frame lock and
a subtle, discreet design are also the main features
of the bike, which is available in both a men‘s and
women‘s version. The integrated, very stable steel
carrier is fastened to the drop-outs using a special
installation system. The remarkable drop-outs are
finished in such a way that the disc brake is accommodated on the inside, enabling the carrier to be
installed perfectly smoothly with stability, because

The new CATEYE HL-EL320 front lamp is an optical
jewel, which also shines with its interior qualities:
three extremely bright LEDs produce a 1,000-cd
light output on the road. The handlebar lamp is
powered by four standard Mignon AA (LR-06) batteries and delivers 10 hours of non-stop light. This is
all made possible by the superior Power-Opticube
glass moulded optics technology combined with
the ultra-bright white LED. This technology very
effectively concentrates the light and efficiently
illuminates the road. The new LED front lamp does
of course fully comply with the Road Traffic Licensing Act (StVZO) requirements and can be installed
without any tools. The unit’s mounting particularly

and the film “Wilde Kerle” (Wild Boys), we now
have the casual „Wilde Kerle DWK Cruiser“. This
bike impresses through an unmistakable design
(black/orange) and its quality, because any wild
person must be able to count on the material. The
frame and fittings are correspondingly high quality: „Springer“ suspension forks; continually adjustable handlebars and saddle height combined with
a frame geometry which generally grows with the
rider; broad Cruiser handlebars and special Cruiser saddle (deep seated position); adjustable brake
levers and much more. What is without doubt unique is the ball-shaped mounting on the handlebars. The Cruiser’s tire sizes are 20 (rear) and 24

der Ultraleicht-Antrieb GRUBER Assist nahezu
unbemerkt auf die Tretkurbel des Rades. Dieser
Antrieb kann in nahezu jedes MTB mit geradem,
durchgehenden Sattelrohr mit einem Innendurchmesser von 31,6 mm eingebaut werden und hat
lediglich ein Gewicht von 900 g. Ein NiMH Hochleistungs-Akku (ca. 1.500 g) lässt sich problemlos in einer herkömmlichen Satteltasche separat
verstauen. Somit sieht man außer einem kleinen
roten Ein-Aus-Knopf am Lenkerhörnchen quasi
nichts vom Antrieb. Die Leistung eines Bikers kann

Well concealed within the mountain bike’s frame,
the interaction between the ultra-light GRUBER
Assist drive and the bike’s pedal crank goes almost
unnoticed. This drive mechanism can be installed
on practically every MTB with a straight, continuous saddle tube with an interior diameter of 31.6
mm and only weighs 900 g. An NiMH high-performance rechargeable battery (approximately 1,500
g) can be easily and separately accommodated in
a conventional saddle bag. As a result, apart from
a small red on-off button on the bar ends, there
is almost nothing to indicate the presence of the
drive unit. Thanks to the 200-Watt powerful drive
mechanism, the biker‘s own performance can, if
required and depending on their fitness level, be
increased by up to 100 percent. This system enables riders to climb steep hills much more easily and

Schmierwirkung. Das Wachs glättet die Oberflächenstrukturen und ermöglicht somit ein reibungsfreies Gleiten. Die Festschmierstoffkomponente setzt sich in den mikroskopisch kleinen
Unebenheiten fest und sorgt für eine äußerst
langlebige Schmierung. Eine weitere angenehme
Eigenschaft ist der so genannte ‚Selbstreinigungseffekt’: Schmutzpartikel werden gebunden, bilden
mit dem Wachs kleine Kügelchen und fallen als
Ganzes von der Kette ab. Die Kette wird zudem
durch den Wachsüberzug wasserdicht versiegelt.
Korrosion hat daher keine Chance.

This chain-wax is a composition of various waxes
with a special dry lubricant as an additive, dissolved in a supporting agent. Without clogging up the
chain this product impresses through its excellent
lubrication effect. The wax smoothes the surface
textures thus enabling friction-free chain gliding
and movement. The firm, solid lubricant components embed themselves in the microscopically
small, uneven areas and ensure an extremely longlasting lubrication effect. A further pleasant, positive characteristic is the so-called “self-cleaning
effect”: the dirt particles bind together, form small
globules with the wax and drop off the chain completely. The chain also has a waterproof sealing
thanks to the wax coating thus providing full protection from any corrosion.

made Marke aus der Taufe und pünktlich zur Ifma
steht die zweite Kollektion an. Contoura ist eine
Symbiose aus Ergonomie, Funktionalität und Eleganz. Die Entwicklung und Fertigung dieses Fahrradprogramms erfolgt in Deutschland. Das tolle

With the Contoura the Lower-Saxony bicycle
manufacturer Hartje created a custom-made brand
in spring 2006, and now right on time for IFMA, the
second collection is ready. Contoura is a symbiosis
between ergonomics, functionality and elegance.
The development and production of this bicycle
range is effected in Germany. The fantastic part for
the customer: they can choose between eight fresh
colours and four different gear systems. The customer even has the choice between a spring fork
and a rigid fork. This means that the customer can
definitely select a bicycle which is perfectly suited
to their individual riding pattern and habits. The
Padua model is a lightweight trekking bike (13.7
kg) with fittings and features which are compatible
with the Road Traffic Licensing Act (StVZO), which
in the SC version, is also available with a spring fork
and suspension saddle post. Incidentally, the Padua
also has two sisters, Perkeo and Pisagua, each with
different highlights

So muss ein ebike aussehen: wie ein normales
Fahrrad. Nur der Experte erkennt, dass der Antrieb
über die Hinterradnabe geschieht und der Akku
unsichtbar im Rahmen integriert ist. Die Benutzung des Emove von Hercules ist kinderleicht: mit
einem Display lässt sich die Unterstützung vierstufig von Off bis Power regulieren. Außerdem
werden Geschwindigkeit, Tages- und Gesamtkilometer sowie der Ladezustand angezeigt. Die
hochwertige Beleuchtungsanlage bezieht ihren
Strom ebenfalls vom Akku und ist dieser leer,
schaltet der Motor um und wird zum Nabendynamo. Der Motor sieht übrigens aus wie ein etwas
zu großer Nabendynamo. Für bis zu 70 km Unterstützung reicht der Akku, der an jeder Steckdose
in 120 min vollständig aufgeladen werden kann.
Die übrige Ausstattung des Emove ist tadellos:
verstellbarer Vorbau, Federsattelstütze, Federgabel und ein sehr stabiler Gepäckträger.

This is what an e-bike should look like: like a normal bicycle. Only the expert can recognize that the
bike is powered via the rear hub and the rechargeable battery is invisibly integrated in the frame.
The Emove from Hercules is child‘s play to use: on
a display the powered assistance can be regulated
in four phases from Off to Power. In addition the
speed, day and total mileage as well as the battery
level are displayed. The high-quality lighting system is also powered by the rechargeable battery,
and if this is empty the motor switches over and
becomes a hub dynamo. Incidentally the motor
looks like a somewhat over-sized hub dynamo. The
rechargeable battery can provide assistance up to
a range of 70 km and be fully charged from every
plug socket in 120 minutes. The Emove’s other features are perfect: adjustable front section, suspension saddle post, spring forks and a very stable,
robust carrier.

Zwar kann man sich nicht in drei Richtungen fortbewegen wie die Spinnentiere, doch man fährt
mit dem neuen Scorpion fx von HP Velotechnik in
einer liegenden Position auf drei Rädern. Das Liegedreirad bietet tollen Fahrspaß und eine sichere,
stabile Straßenlage. In einer entspannten gefederten (Rahmenfederung) Liegeposition, die in Winkel

Even if the new Scorpion fx from HP Velotechnik
doesn’t move in three directions like the animal
it’s named after, it does allow the rider to move
forward on three wheels — while in a lying position. This recumbent bike is fun to ride and offers
great road holding. The rider leans back in comfort
thanks to the frame suspension, and the angle and
length can be adjusted so that it’s easy to keep an
eye on the road ahead. The tricycle is also ideal
for longer trips, as around 50 kg of luggage can
be stowed in four pack-bags on the robust holder
and the low-rider carrier behind the seat. Another
special feature: It’s quick and simple to fold the
bike up into a compact package measuring 102
x 83 x 69 cm that fits easily into the car. The front

sperrige Lenker eckt überall an. Dafür hat der Traditionshersteller Humpert aus Wickede/Ruhr jetzt
eine praktikable Lösung. Mit wenigen Handgriffen lässt sich die gesamte Lenkereinheit im Vorbauschaft werkzeuglos verdrehen. Dadurch wird
die Baubreite des Fahrrads mehr als halbiert. Die
kinderleichte Bedienung ermöglicht auch technisch ungeübten Personen ein schnelles Zurechtkommen und ein cleverer Sicherheitsmechanismus verhindert eine Fehlbedienung. Die Nachrüstung ist bei allen Fahrrädern mit Schaftvorbau möglich. Bei Rädern mit A-Head ist das hier

Narrow corridors, railway carriages, the boot of
the car — these are all places where there’s theoretically enough space for a bike, but the handlebars make things awkward. Humpert, a long-standing manufacturer from Wickede/Ruhr, has now
come up with a practical solution. With just a few
flicks of the wrist, the entire handlebar unit in the
front section can be twisted without the need for
tools. This cuts the width of the bike by more than
half. The user-friendly product is suitable for everyone, whatever their level of technical skill; a clever
safety mechanism prevents mishandling. The stem
can be retrofitted to all bikes with a shaft front section. However, it is not compatible with bikes with
an A-head. The compact design blends in well with
the cockpit.

am Neckar präsentiert auf der IFMA seinen Helm
Easy mit Leuchtdioden im Verstellring. Die einzeln einschaltbaren Lampen befinden sich links
und rechts der Größenanpassung und nennen sich
Litetec. Nach 40 stündiger Betriebszeit (das reicht
meist für einen Winter) können die Batterien kinderleicht getauscht werden. Das optisch durchaus angenehme Modell Easy, hebt sich aus dem
allerlei der Helmformen deutlich ab. Der der Kopfring wird vorne eingesteckt. Die Klettverbindung
zum Polster ist nicht wie üblich geklebt, sondern
in den Kopfring eingespritzt; das sorgt für Dauerhaltbarkeit. Löcher im Kopfring ermöglichen eine
deutlich verbesserte Verdunstung des Schweiss.
Der Easy ist zudem mit einem Insektenschutznetz ausgestattet.

The German helmet manufacturer KED from Freiberg am Neckar is presenting its Helm Easy, which
incorporates light-emitting diodes in the adjustment ring, at IFMA. The “Litetec” lights are arranged to the left and right of the size adjustor and
can be switched on individually. After 40 hours of
operation (usually enough for a winter), the batteries can be replaced very easily. The eye-catching
model Easy really stands out from the general multitude of helmet shapes. The head ring is inserted at
the front. The Velcro connection to the padding is
not glued as in typical designs but rather injected
into the head ring; that ensures durability. Holes
in the head ring allow a far more effective evaporation of perspiration. Easy is also equipped with
insect netting.

Low weight and easy, light-running characteristics
were the guiding principles in the development of
the Speed 16 from Kettler. That is why the Kettler
engineers were also consistent in foregoing spring
forks and a suspension saddle post, which when
cycling on good-quality asphalt surfaces, do not
provide any additional comfort. As a result, the area
of application for Speed 16 and its sister is clearly
defined: it only really feels at home on asphalt. The
clear-cut, timeless look is also underlined by the
extravagant wheels fitted with Schwalbe Marathon
Racer tires. The gear unit is a combination of derailleur and hub gear systems. At the front a pedalpower-supported derailer moves the chain and at the
rear the tried-and-tested Shimano Nexus 8-speed
hub gear system does its thing. The Hella lighting

Die Lippstädter Firma KMX hat ein völlig neues
Trikekonzept geschaffen, denn das ST Class trike
ist eine Fusion aus BMX-Rad, Go-Kart und Liegedreirad. ST steht dabei für Stunt. Das Trike ist konzipiert für Jumps, Slides und Stunts. Der robuste
Rahmen und das Fahrwerk sind für hohe Fahrstabilität und sicheres Steuern auch im harten
Offroad-Einsatz ausgelegt. Mit 16 cm fällt die
Sitzhöhe sehr niedrig aus, sie ist jedoch auch bei
extremen Fahrmanövern Garant für eine satte
Straßenlage. Somit ist es fast unmöglich, das Trike
zu kippen, wenngleich Könner allerdings auch auf
zwei Rädern fahren – erhöhter Adrenalinspiegel
inklusive. Gebremst wird die ST Class mit drei
mechanischen Scheibenbremsen, die Hinterradbremse ist feststellbar. Die ST Class ist für Triker

The KMX company (based in Lippstadt) has created a completely new trike concept — the ST Class
trike, which combines the best features of a BMX
bike, go-cart and reclining bike. The “ST” designation stands for “stunt”. The trike is designed for
jumps, slides and stunts. Its robust frame and suspension are engineered to ensure maximum ride
stability and sure steering, even for extreme offroad use. The remarkably low-slung 16 cm high
seat ensures excellent contact with the road surface. Therefore it is almost impossible to tip the
trike, even for expert riders who can bring the
three-wheeler up on two wheels — for maximum
adrenaline levels. The ST Class is equipped with
three mechanical disc brakes, and there is an emergency brake for the rear wheel. The trike is designed

carrier. The well-known and tried-and-tested carrier functions have been combined with the advantages and functions of the KLICKfix carrier adapter. All the elements from the KLICKfix accessories
range can be easily clicked onto the black ATRAN
KLICKfix carrier, combined or used as individual
units and can also be centrally secured with a lock.
This enables bags to be used on the sides, while
baskets, boxes or cases can also be mounted on the
top side. Conventional pack bags with various bar

wheel in seconds. Use a miniature pump to inflate
the transparent AirFender and attach it to the seat

double chamber. For safety in darkness, a reflecting 3M ring is attached. The hub, from SRAM, is

(8 and 9 speed). The special construction is intended to ensure extreme toughness without maintenance work and post-centering. The wheels are

great leap forward in tyre technology: The company has used a triple compound and unique protective belt made of Vectran, which is also used in
the aerospace industry, to produce a 195 g tyre
that is fast, puncture-proof and ensures excellent
traction. Three rubber compounds are used in the
new tyre’s running surface: The middle of the tyre’s
running surface delivers durability, while its shoulders provide good traction. Beneath the surface is a

The Spark underscores Scott’s pioneering role

displayed at IFMA is the lightest frame/damper combination in the world. When completely

You cannot swim or run with the beautiful triathlon
SH-TR50 racing shoe from Shimano, but it is outstanding for cycling. The developers have intelligently implemented the special requirements of
this sport. There are no irritating seams inside, for
example. The breathable mesh upper dries quickly
and is permeable to air, so the shoe can be worn for

wird die genaue Höhe des Fußgewölbes ermittelt

The waiting is finally over. Following the quiet
demise of the Sachs and Suntour racing cycle
components, SRAM is now venturing to contest
the supremacy of Campagnolo and Shimano. After
over three years of development, the company is
bringing two top racing cycle groups onto the market. At 2.138 kilograms, the Force is the lightest
component group available in 2006. The innovative gear levers of the Force group and their low
weight are creating a stir. In the brake-gearshift
group alone, the use of magnesium, carbon and
aluminium results in a weight 25 percent lower
than that of the lightest competitor. The most conspicuous innovation is the „DoubleTap“ shifting

We‘ve all been there: You‘re on the road with your

remembered a rain jacket, but you do not have
appropriate rain trousers. Besides, people do not
like to wear those bulky trousers anyway, since
condensation usually forms underneath and the

BiGBOY was built to carry weight. Heavy persons
will appreciate this bike, because it is not only

The hand-soldered steel frame gives BiGBOY bike
for heavy persons its stability, but it does not make
a bulky impression at all. A beautiful leather saddle,

von Shimano ist verbaut. Die 8-Gangnabe mit

Oldenburg-based vsf fahrradmanufaktur. The
sporty appearance, the light frame with rigid fork,
and above all the drive mechanism. And that drive
really should not be underestimated, because the
new component group Alfine from Shimano has
been used. The 8-speed hub with the gleaming
finish is operated with good old RapidFire levers
(naturally with a new look). The gearshift reacts
quickly with a soft change of gears when the lever
is pressed. Cyclists who sometimes like to ride fast
need reliable brakes. So the engineers gave the CX
Alfine disc brakes from the Alfine component kit in
the front and back. The sporty bike is rounded out
with a light but adequate chain guard, the complete lighting system with hub dynamo and detachable mudguards.

Grund Reflektoren an den Laufrädern vor. Doch
gerade im sportiven Bereich stören die gelben
Speichenreflektoren die Optik und werden von

Cycling in darkness is dangerous even with a functioning lighting system. The German Road Traffic
Licensing Regulations (StVZO) therefore prescribe
reflectors in the wheels for good reason, but when
it comes to sporty riding, the yellow spoke reflectors spoil the look of the bike and are removed by
the users. The new wheel generation from Vuelta
is directed at precisely this target group. Here, the
spokes are covered with a reflective layer from
3M, ensuring the all-important safety during darkness. Depending on the model, the rider therefore
has up to 72 reflective spokes in the wheels which
are guaranteed to be noticed. An angle of effect
of 360° means that the wheels can be seen from
all around, and this will hopefully prevent quite a
few collisions.

Papa, mach das Taxi klar!
Seit wenigen Monaten werden in Köln Tandems
als so genannte ELTERNTAXIS genutzt. Initiator
und Geldgeber ist das Kölner Unternehmen Zwei
plus zwei, Spezialist für Familienmobilität. Familien mit Grundschulkindern, anfangs nur in Köln
und nun auch im gesamten Bundesgebiet, werden kostenfrei Tandems zur Verfügung gestellt, die
zwei Wochen lang auf dem täglichen Schulweg
und in der Freizeit zum Einsatz kommen. Eltern
und Kinder erhalten zu Beginn eine fachkundige Einweisung. Tandem-Experten bauen für die
„Fahrstunden“ auf dem Schulhof einen Parcours
auf. Danach können die Kinder und Erwachsenen
mit dem ELTERNTAXI jeden Tag als Team unterwegs sein: morgens per Tandem zur Schule, am
Nachmittag ins Freibad oder zum Ausflug. Grundschulen mit Interesse an der Aktion ELTERNTAXI
können sich übers Internet bewerben.

For a few months now, people have been using tandem bikes in Cologne as so-called PARENT TAXIS.
The founder and financial backer is the Cologne
company Zwei plus zwei, a specialist for family
mobility. In an initiative that started in Cologne
and now extends to the whole country, families
with primary school children are provided with free
tandems that can be used for two weeks to get to
school each day and during leisure time. Parents
and children receive professional instruction in
the bikes at the beginning. Tandem experts build
a course for the “riding lessons” in the school yard.
Afterward, the children and grown-ups can travel
with the PARENT TAXI every day as a team: In the
morning they can go to school with the tandem,
and in the afternoon they can go to the open-air
swimming pool or for an outing. Primary schools
interested in the PARENT TAXI campaign can apply
through the Internet.

einem spektakulären Rundkurs über die IFMA-Freiflächen und sogar durch eine Halle hindurch!

Vor dem Damen-Profirennen fährt der Nachwuchs
die Rennstrecke schon ein. Die seit Mai 2006 laufenden Rennserie „Fette Reifen Rennen“ des RadClub Deutschland gastiert bei der IFMA. In zwei
Altersklassen (8 bis 10 und 11 bis 13 Jahre) fahren Mädchen und Jungen auf ihren „normalen“
Rädern mit mindestens 30 Millimeter dicken Reifen um die Wette, an den Hallen vorbei und durch
eine hindurch! Sicher ein tolles Erlebnis für Kölner

Kids. Mit dem „Fette Reifen Rennen“ soll der Nachwuchs Spaß
am Radsport bekommen. Für tolle
Preise und Urkunden hat der RadClub Deutschland gesorgt. Teilnehmen kann jedes

IFMA stattfindet. 50 Tonnen Steine, Telefonzellen,

auch für die Zuschauer.

des Jahres“ mit der spektakulärsten Tour. Mitorganisator dieser Convention ist die Kölner Agentur
grenzgang unter anderem mit Hartmut Fiebig, der
schon von Konstanz nach Kapstadt geradelt ist.

On 16th and 17th September (a weekend), IFMA
will become a Mecca of cycling. At the “IFMA Bike
Race — Ladies Ride” — a professional race which
takes place on 16th September — a field of international cyclists will race off around a spectacular
course in the IFMA outdoor area. The track even
takes the cyclists through a hall!

Fat Tyre Race

Before the ladies mount their bikes, the young
hopefuls of tomorrow will first warm things up by
putting their skills to the test on the track. The Fat
Tyre Race events, which have been presented since
May 2006, are making a guest appearance at IFMA.
The races are held in two age categories (8 to 10
and 11 to 13) and feature boys and girls competing against each other on “normal” bikes with tyres

Top-class congresses
As in the past, IFMA is also offering a comprehensive congress programme. On Thursday, the largest bicycle traffic congress in Germany will open
the current series of IFMA congresses. The events
have a key role to play when it comes to addressing the issue of bicycle traffic policy. The congress is titled “Heading for the city: New Strategies for urban mobility”. It is being organised by
the Bicycle-Friendly Towns and Municipalities in

North Rhine-Westphalia Working Group (AGFS),
the Bicycle Industry Association (ZIV), and the City
of Cologne.
In a conference provocatively titled “Live wild and
dangerously“ (10:30 a.m. on 15th September)
experts will be discussing the risks that children face
because of today’s traffic and how open spaces can
be provided to accommodate their needs.

Another new feature of this year’s IFMA will be a big
stage on which a wide variety of entertaining and
informative events will be presented, including the

experiences in slide shows and photo presentations. The participant with the most spectacular tour
will be voted Long Distance Biker of the Year by an
expert jury. The convention will be organised with
the assistance of the Cologne-based agency grenzgang in conjunction with, among others, Hartmut
Fiebig, who once rode all the way from Constance
to Cape Town.
