THE PAINTED PLAYER
Welcome to The Painted Player Online Catalogue
Thank you for your interest in The Painted Player, inspired by the psychedelic artwork and
instruments of the 1960’s and 70’s, our unique service gives you the opportunity to order your very
own one-off classic guitar, hand painted or hand crafted by our talented team of Artists and Luthiers.
The Painted Player maintains a dedication to bring the hands-on, vintage vibe feel of some of the
world’s most iconic instruments to life.
Available here are original interpretations of many classic guitars, each guitar personally
commissioned either direct online or via our various ebay auctions, every single colour is mixed by
hand by the artist and every single design is hand-painted or crafted, thusly every single guitar is
unique. No two are ever quite the same and in this, The Painted Player is first in offering true oneoffs, not guitars from a production line, not airbrushed or machine produced, but the real thing at
stunning value.
We quote a 4 – 6 week completion period as standard for all commissions, e-mail updates and
regular communication is maintained throughout the production process to keep you advised. Once
complete, the guitars are given a clear lacquer coating to seal in and protect the artist’s work but we
do stress that this may not protect against vigorous use or mistreatment, while every instrument we
produce is fully playable, they should be treated with the care and consideration due to ‘collectable’
pieces of art.
Artwork is always subjective, as a result we maintain a NO returns / refunds policy, of course if there
is any damage or technical fault upon receipt we will do our best to resolve the situation to your
satisfaction but when ordering, be sure you're looking for a vintage-vibe piece of original guitar-art as
opposed to a production-line airbrushed / decaled guitar.
For more details on our official terms and conditions please see our disclaimer at the back of this
online catalogue.
The Artist Series, Luthier Special Series & The Custom Shop
The Painted Player is divided into 3 separate series, The Artist Series, The Luthier Special Series
and The Custom Shop, each specialising in a particular area of The Painted Player world.
The Artist Series (our most popular line) is comprised of fully hand painted instruments based on
iconic guitars donned by some of the world’s greatest players, from Eric Clapton to Jimmy Page, our
host of 60’s and 70’s inspired artwork will leave you dazzled. Models are available in Standard,
Deluxe or Supreme instrument editions (see particular model specs for details).
The Luthier Special Series, introduced in December 2006 with the release of our Internationally
popular Slade Super-Yob Tribute Model, comprises of fully handcrafted designs based on some of

famous ‘Flame’ guitar and the ‘Lightning’ guitar, as well as more obscure designs such as Steve Vai’s
‘Zng Zng’ Special and Eddie Van Halen’s Megazone.
Finally, The Painted Player Custom Shop is essentially the culmination of these two Series,
dynamic, bold and original, The Custom Shop has given our Artists and Luthier’s the chance to run
riot with classic designs and brand new concepts alike, from The FOOL SG Junior to the Entwhistle
‘Flame’ 6-string and totally original designs such as our stunning Jimi Hendrix Angel Custom. The

J-H Saville Theatre Strat
The Jimi Hendrix Saville Theatre Stratocaster
London, June 4th 1967, The Jimi Hendrix Experience plays the Saville Theatre before leaving for the
USA. Much like the celebrated Monterey Strat, Jimi personalised the guitar with his stunning hand
painted artistry, offset beautifully by the moving, poetic ‘obituary’ painted by hand on the guitar’s
reverse, fitting, as during the final song of that historic set, Jimi smashed the guitar and cast it into the
audience, history was made. The Painted Player interpretation is based on the guitar prior its
destruction, we leave it to you to demolish it after your own sell-out concert!

recording sessions and became one of his favourite slide guitars.

P-M Sgt-P 4001 Bass
The Paul McCartney Sgt. Pepper 4001 Bass
While best known for playing his beautiful Höfner 500/1 Bass, Sir Paul dabbled in an array of Bass
instruments during his time in The Beatles but it was in 1966 that the Rickenbacker 4001 had
officially become Paul’s guitar of choice leading up to the release of that historic album, Sgt. Pepper’s
Lonely Hearts Club Band. George, John and Paul all followed a certain guitarist’s example and gave
their guitars a personal ‘Summer Of Love’ paint job. Available here for the first time anywhere is The
Painted Player homage to that classic instrument!
