Redesign Plan
Brief History
Gamesa was founded in 1921 by Alberto, Ignacio and
Manuel Santos Gonzalez in Monterrey, Mexico. They
are headquartered in San Pedro Garza Garcia, Nuevo
Leon and have production facilities in eight states
across Mexico and one in Colombia. Gamesa went
from a family company to worldwide company.
Today, Gamesa is Mexico’s largest manufacturer of
cookies and exports their products to more than 16
countries to reach more than 650,000 customers.
Gamesa started operations in Central America
and the Caribbean, where the company has grown
successfully. They also sell their cookies in the United
States, Central and South America. In 1990, they were
acquired by PepsiCo. Among Gamesa’s most successful
brands are “Galletas Marías”, “Emperador”, “Arcoiris”,
“Mamut”, “Chokis”, and “Maizoro”.
The Maria cookie is actually a tea biscuit that was
created by a London bakery in 1874. There are many
brands of this tea biscuit in Mexico, but Gamesa is the
most popular one by far. One of the first solid foods
that is introduced to most Mexican babies is often a
Galleta Maria dipped in milk.
Target Group
Gamesa’s cookies mainly targets Hispanic consumers
of all generations. It is a staple in many Hispanic
households because it the perfect companion for tea,
coffee, and milk.
Big Idea
Galletas Marías current package design is outdated. My
big idea is to incorporate Mexican tribal patterns to
attract the culture. This means, bright colors and bold
design. The packaging will have a clear, plastic window
that will give the customers a peek of what is in the
package. I will use an orange and blue color scheme
so consumers are not confused by the redesign. The
photography for the design will be sharp, refreshing
and clean.
This attractive and bold design will pull customers as
they walk down the aisle. Sales will increase because
customers will spread the word to check out Galletas
Marías well needed redesign.

Style Guide
Logos
Marias’ color logo will be used in all promotional
material, products and packaging. The black and
white logo may be used for stationary or draft
prints. The kerning and spacing of the logo must stay
consistent with the examples below. Placement of
the logo should be aligned no further than 2 inches
and no closer than .5 inches from the edge.
