Our dedication. Your journey.
Welcome
Welcome to Davidson County Community College!
I am pleased to welcome you to our Davidson Campus for the 32nd Annual Central Piedmont
Emergency Services College. Davidson County Community College is Davidson and Davie
County’s Community College, and we realize the importance of continuous, up-to-date training
for you, the dedicated and brave professionals on the job 24 hours a day to keep our
communities safe from harm.
This booklet provides detailed information about courses and locations as well as information
about registration, area hotels and our community partners that help make the Emergency
Services College possible. We hope it will be helpful to you.
Davidson County Community College is proud to co-sponsor this annual weekend of
education and training with the Davidson County Public Safety Association. Each year, the
Emergency Services College grows in course content and variety of classes for fire, rescue
and emergency services. We have expanded from a weekend college to be a weeklong event.
Among the forty plus classes being offered, we are offering several leadership classes for fire
officers as well as fire and EMS instructor classes. We are excited this year to have several
specialty classes including arson detection, large animal rescue and tower rescue.
It is exciting to see so many first responders and public safety professionals in one place at
the same time during this event. Our student participants will surely benefit from the added
value of studying alongside seasoned professionals.
Again this year, we are offering fire prevention and safety education activities for children and
families that will take place Saturday Feb. 13 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Public Safety
Parking Lot. Sparky the Fire Dog and Smokey the Bear will be on campus to greet the
children. Pink Heals Triad will have their pink fire truck on campus to raise awareness of those
battling cancer. Children and parents can climb aboard a medical helicopter, an ambulance
and a fire truck.
Again, welcome to DCCC. We are glad you are here for an informative week of professional
development and interaction with your peers. Have a safe and enjoyable learning experience.
Sincerely,
Mary E. Rittling, Ed.D.
