THE GREAT CANADIAN
SHORELINE CLEANUP
Litter has a significant impact on the quality of our
water, as well as the aquatic life it supports. Come out
and help us make a difference.
Did you know that the Great Canadian Shoreline
Cleanup is also part of an international effort? Each
September, hundreds of thousands of volunteers from
around the world participate during the International
Coastal Cleanup, coordinated by the Ocean
Conservancy.
More information on events is available
on the Burlington Events Calendar at www.burlington.ca
During the cleanup, volunteers record information
about the waste that is picked up. In 2003, over
150,000 cigarette butts were picked up across Canada.
Notice of CANCELLATION
of Public Meeting
Come lend a hand on September 18th. Gloves and
bags will be provided.
The Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup is supported
nationally by the TD Friends of the Environment
Foundation and was started by the Vancouver
Aquarium 14 years ago.

Pets at Special Events
Visitors to the Rotary Ribfest at Spencer Smith Park are
encouraged to leave their pets at home. The large crowds,
noise, heat and excitement at major special events are not an
ideal environment for your pets.
Cyclists and Pedestrians
The waterfront promenade at Spencer Smith Park will be a
heavily travelled area during the Ribfest. Cyclists, please
dismount and walk your bikes along the promenade during
the event.
P

visit the Ribfest. The parking garage located at
