We will meet at the church at 10:00 a.m. You will need money for lunch and we will be through by mid-afternoon. We will be riding the bus at some point. That is your only clue. Please sign up in Sunday School this week. this week as I have been with our group in Honduras since last Sunday. Continue to pray for our people as we provide medical, dental, and eye care as well as fill many prescriptions. It is amazing how many needs we can meet during just a few days. I am part of the evangelism team as we go door to door to present the gospel as well as sharing at other times. Also pray for the people we will be ministering to. CELEBRATE LIFE: Under Bro. William’s leadership, we are presenting Celebrate Life! again this year. The performances will be April 18 and 19 at 6:30 p.m. I am working with the drama again and we have the same people playing Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John this year. Plus we have a little surprise appearance from Peter. It is really an excellent musical and if you are not involved please make plans to attend and invite others to come with you. LOVE NOTES… from William Love Cynthia Clawson and Ragan Courtney: Our Guests for Celebrate Life! April 18, 19; 6:30 p.m. Our two presentations of the inspiring musical, Celebrate Life!, will include this talented husband/wife team. We are truly grateful to have them with us. Cynthia is a Grammy Award-winning gospel singer. She has also received five Dove Awards and fifteen Dove Award nominations. She has been called “The most awesome voice in gospel music” by Billboard Magazine. Her 1981 recording of “The Lord’s Prayer” with several other artists won the Grammy Award for the “Best Gospel Performance, Contemporary or Inspirational” category. She performed on the Grammy show that year. Cynthia’s rendition of “Softly and Tenderly” was included in the soundtrack of the Academy Award winning 1985 movie, “The Trip to Bountiful.” In recent years she has been closely associated with Bill and Gloria Gaither and frequently sings on their television show. She has recorded more than twenty albums which feature a diverse collection of songs of Faith. Ragan is a playwright, poet, and communicator. As a ninth grader he had his first poem published, and this event directed him into a study of literature. He wrote the musical, “Celebrate Life!”, with his good friend Buryl Red, in 1971. It has sold over a million copies and has been presented in countless venues around the world. He and Cynthia then collaborated on “Bright, New Wings.” In addition to these, Ragan has written and published other musicals: “Beginnings”, “Lottie D.”, “Acts”, “In the Name of the Lord”, “Song of Bethlehem”, “Angels”, “In Obedience”, and “Room at the Inn”, to name a few. He has also written and published five books of poetry. Ragan has taught at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky; worked for the Baptist Sunday School Board in Nashville, Tennessee as a Drama and Worship Consultant; and was the Director of the Center for Christianity and the Arts at Houston Baptist University in Houston, Texas. He has written, directed, and performed in plays and pageants for twenty-five years including the remarkable presentation “A Christmas Spectacular” at Houston’s First Baptist Church. Currently, Ragan continues to write, direct, and consult for the theatrical productions of Jeannette Clift George and The Imperial Performing Arts. It is not too late to join the Celebrate Life! cast. Our intergenerational choir of children, youth, and adults is open to people in our congregation and singers from the community. If you are interested, please call for more detailed information. Publicity flyers are available on the Foyer Welcome Desks. Thank you for helping to inform others about Celebrate Life! But the main thing continues to be the main thing ... and that is to open our arms to our community, demonstrate the love of Christ, and provide a clear presentation of why Easter matters. It's an exciting time to come together as a church family and, together, come rain or shine, God makes it happen. And in that, what a blessing it is that He lets us be a part of it. Without our church family serving as His hands and feet, this event could not take place. As we continue to plan, please pray how God might use YOU this year...
