This state-of-the-art system is a “green” system befitting of the natural surroundings at Treebones. A resort like none other, Treebones’ extraordinary amenities include a campground, heated pool, restaurant, outdoor redwood bar and patio, panoramic view of the Pacific … and accommodation in 16 spectacular yurts. Traditionally domed, portable tents used by the nomadic peoples of central Asia, the yurts of Treebones are a magnificent cross between a cabin and a tent.—and cozy queen-sized beds beneath the stars (visible through sky domes), make this a “camping” experience like never before! A peek inside an elegant Treebones yurt: DLE’s advanced propane system allows all the comforts of a resort amid the raw beauty of a secluded seaside campsite. The DLE team that established this wonderful resort account was excited to pair their propane with Treebones’ eco-conscious environment. Because Treebones is completely off the grid (removed from public utility services), they rely almost entirely upon propane. The resort’s owner, John Handy is impressed with the staff at DLE. He said, “The staff of Delta Liquid Energy has been so good to us. Approved by the Environmental Protection Agency as a clean alternative fuel, propane leads all transportation fuels in producing the lowest greenhouse gas emissions (U.S. Department of Energy’s Alternative Fuels and Advanced Vehicles Data Center). Moreover, President Obama’s new stimulus package, which encourages municipalities to use alternatively fueled vehicles, offers government grants to cover a portion of the cost of establishing propane refueling infrastructures. Fueled by this compelling information, the DLE team is leading a campaign to support the use of propane-powered vehicles by commercial and municipal fleets. models when it comes to horsepower, torque, and towing capacity, and which often offer a lower operating cost per mile than their gasoline and diesel-run counterparts. Lower price and fuel use tax credits are great incentives for jumping on the propane school bus (or pickup, or van), but perhaps the most persuasive factor of propane-use is the savings it offers the environment. With nine retail bulk plants throughout California, Delta Liquid Energy is a key player in this propane motor fuel awareness campaign. Learn more about the greenhouse gases (and the spending) you could cut by using propane as an alternative fuel, by calling Ted Olsen at (805) 239-0616. Their most recent conquest in this crusade was an exciting exclusive account with a subcontractor of the Los Angeles County school district. Paso Robles DLE manager Ted Olsen, who has traveled throughout California promoting propane fuel, proudly orchestrated a five-year contract that will provide the propane for the Los Angeles County Special Needs school bus fleet and the promise for a less polluted horizon for the children who ride them. As the next generation of drivers learns the new school of fuel-philosophy, other drivers are finding more options among propane-powered consumer vehicles. The 2009 Roush Propane F-250 pick–up truck will be available this fall, and the 2010 E 250 Van will arrive by year’s end. Retrofits for 2007 and 2008 F150s have also been approved by CARB. Olsen is working with Ford dealers around the state to endorse the propane-fueled models, whose performances are comparable to the gas-fueled Dependable Propane Service Since 1936 A five-year contract will provide the propane for the Los Angeles County Special Needs school bus fleet and promises a less polluted horizon for the children who ride them. Be Prepared! • Make sure you and your family know what propane smells like: propane has a strong, unpleasant smell (like rotten eggs or a skunk’s spray). • Show your family where the outdoor propane supply and indoor propane appliances are located, and teach them how to turn them off. • Consider anchoring or bracing your tank to help prevent it from moving, sliding, or falling over during an earthquake. Contact DLE for more information. • Clear the area surrounding your tank of any tall or heavy objects that could fall on it during an earthquake. • Install a carbon monoxide (CO) detector on every level of your home. • Make a list of instructions on how to turn off electricity, propane, and water supplies, and post the list in a convenient location that is made known to all family members.
