CLIL WITH HISTORY
In 1938 Nicholas Winton was living
and working in London. He received
a call from a friend who lived in
Prague. Winton’s friend worked for
the British embassy and was
helping to organize refugee camps
for many Jewish families from
Czechoslovakia.
Winton came from a Jewish family
himself. He wanted to help families
in Czechoslovakia. He decided to
organize special trains to take the
children to Britain. In March 1939
Hitler invaded the rest of
Czechoslovakia. That year, 8 large
groups of children (669 in total)
left Prague for Britain. 7 groups
left by train. It was a long journey
from Prague, through Germany,
Holland and then by boat to
Britain. In September 1939, there
was an eighth train at Prague
station ready to take children to
England, but that day the Second
World War started and the train
with its 250 children disappeared.
For the rest of his life Winton was
sorry that the train didn’t leave
Prague a day earlier.
The 669 children started a new life
in Britain with new families. Most of
their original families died instead.
For years Nicholas Winton never
talked about his work. He didn’t
even tell his wife! in 1988 his wife
found documents, letters and
photos and Winton told his wife his
story.
In September 2009 a special train
left Prague station. On the train
there were 22 of the original
children with their children and
grandchildren too. The train
followed the same route of 1939
and at London Liverpool station
they met the 100-year-old Sir
Nicholas Winton, the man who

WIE IST ES, WENN MAN
DEUTSCH LERNEN MUSS,
OBWOHL MAN SCHON GUT
SPRECHEN KANN
Deutsch lernen ist sehr einfach,
wenn man es schon kann. Vor
allem ist es schön, wenn dir alle
irgendwelche Fragen stellen und
auch wenn alle denken, dass du ein
Genie bist, obwohl es eigentlich
gar nicht so ist.
Deutsch können aber es trotzdem
lernen kann aber auch als feige
erscheinen. Eigentlich ist es gar
nicht so, denn ich kann zwar gut
sprechen aber nicht so gut
schreiben.
Zum Glück haben wir eine klasse
Deutschlehrerin, die Frau Panzeri
heißt. Deswegen bin ich sehr
glücklich Deutsch ausgewählt zu
haben.

ALFRED WEGENER
Wegener wurde im November 1880
geboren, sein Vater war ein
Theologe.
Schon als Kind hat er immer gern
Physik, Astronomie und
Meteorologie gelernt.
Im Jahr 1905 begann er einige
Testen mit den Heißluftballons für
meteorologische Beobachtung zu
tun.
Im Jahr 1910 begann er die Theorie
der Kontinentaldrift zu
formulieren. 1911 entdeckt er und
lernt einige Theorien, die aus dem
Studium der Fossilien in Afrika
und Lateinamerika Emerging
wurden.
Wegener untersucht die Gründe
für bestimmte Spiele und ein paar
Jahre später formulierte er die
Theorie, die seinen Namen hat.
Er starb im November 1930.

Our school
The name of our school is “Istituto Sacro Cuore”
and it’s in Villa d’Adda, a village near Bergamo, in
Italy.
We are attending the 5th year of the primary
school.
In our school we study a lot of subjects: Italian,
Maths, English, History, Geography, Science, Religion, Art and Music.
There is a lab where we have Information and Technology lessons and there is a gym where we do
Physical Education.
The tutor-teachers are Maria, Serena, Silvia,
Alessandra, Marzia, Maria Rosa, Daniela,
Loredana, Elisabetta and Angelica. The English
teachers are Mariangela and Margherita, the
Physical Education teachers are Stefano and
Cortinovis, the Religion teachers are Madre
Elettra and Madre Elsa. Maver teaches Music,
Roberto teaches Music and Information Technology.
Every day school starts at 8:25 in the morning.
At 10:20 we have a short break in the park. At
12:20 we have lunch in the canteen and at 1 o’clock
p.m. we have a long break for 40 minutes. In the afternoon we have lessons from 1:40 to 3:40 p.m.
At 3:40 some students go home and some of
them stay at school where they do their homework or do some extra-activities (they can play
the piano or the guitar, or they can play tennis or
karate). In our school there are a kindergarten
and a junior high school too.

superbonita!
Javi tiene doce años. Su familia es

En la planta baja hay una cocina,

Texto: Este fin de semana me han
invitado a la mejor fiesta de mi
vida...
¿Sabes qué? Este fin de semana
ha sido fenomenal porque he ido a
la fiesta de mi primo Miguel que ha
tenido lugar en el centro juvenil de
mi pueblo. Han participado
muchos amigos que van a la
escuela con él, entre los cuales he
conocido a Pablo que es una
persona muy simpática y amable.
La fiesta ha sido un baile de
disfraces y todos los amigos se

ha sido cuando el padre de Miguel
se ha puesto un disfraz ridículo y
todos los amigos se han reído

Querido diario:
hoy estoy muy feliz porque he
festejado mi cumpleaños.
Por la mañana he desayunado con
tarta de crema y una taza de
chocolate caliente. Luego he ido al
picadero y he montado mi caballo
favorito, Tornado. A las dos y
media he comido con mi familia en
el restaurante cerca del picadero.
He comido muy de prisa una buena
paella de pescado y después ¡me

ha dolido la barriga! Mi madre
Anita me ha dado una pastilla
para el dolor y, mientras hacía la
siesta, mis padres han preparado
una fiesta sorpresa para mí.
Cuando he entrado en el salón y he
visto a todos mis amigos, me he
sentido muy feliz y contento.
¡Durante la fiesta me he divertido
mucho!
Nos hemos dividido en dos
equipos y hemos jugado al
baloncesto. Mi equipo, el mejor, ha
ganado veinticuatro a cinco.
Cuando los invitados se han ido,
he cenado con mi familia. ¡Este ha
sido un día muy bonito!

Texto: Nuestros años de
cole.
Los primeros días del primer
curso del colegio fueron divertidos
para algunos estudiantes, pero
para otros fueron unos días para
acostumbrarse a compañeros
nuevos.
Nosotros alumnos nos conocimos
mejor durante la primera
excursión que tuvo lugar en
octubre de aquel año en Roncola.
Durante el primer año fuimos
también a la piscina de Chignolo
d’Isola para mejorar nuestra
técnica de natación. Fuimos
incluso a Génova, estuvimos en
esta ciudad durante dos días y
dormimos allí. Visitamos el museo
del mar e hicimos un poco de
senderismo en la naturaleza.
También durante el segundo curso
de ESO hicimos una excursión:
esta vez fuimos a Schilpario y en
este pequeño pueblo esquiamos.
A finales del año pasado
probamos una actividad de
educación física del tercer año: la
orientación. Para nosotros fue

This year, during the English lessons, we talked
about the money that people use in some Countries, especially in those nations where English is
the official language.
In Great Britain the national currency is the
Pound Sterling and its symbol is “ £ ”.
The Pound Sterling has four types of coins: 1 penny
(=0,01), 2 pence (0,02), 5 pence (=0.05), 10
pence (=0,10), 20 pence (=0.20), 50 pence
(0,50), 1 Pound (=1,00) and 2 Pounds (=2,00).
British people can use four types of banknotes
too: 5 Pounds (=5,00), 10 Pounds (=10,00), 20
Pounds (=20,00) and 50 Pounds (=50,00).
In the United States of America the official currency is the Dollar and its symbol is “ $ “.

Pilar Matinot Pesini es una mujer
española de Madrid. Se casò con
un hombre italiano, Marco, y
ahora trabaja en su empresa
italiana como secretaria y da
clases de conversación española
en las escuelas.
Pilar vino a nuestro instituto el
año pasado para hablarnos de
una tradición popular española:
“Las Fallas” de Valencia. Este año
ha venido otras seis veces para
explicarnos algunos aspectos
más de la cultura española.
Nuestras clases con ella
empezaron el 22 de enero y
terminaron el 16 de marzo de
2015. Durante estas horas leímos
Classe 5^A
algunos textos sobre España que
además vamos a estudiar para
los examenes de junio. Los temas
han sido: la Constitución de 1978,
las lenguas de España, los
parques naturales, los gitanos, la
corrida de toros y el atentado
terrorista del 11-M.
El texto que nos ha gustado más
es el de los gitanos que habla del
pueblo rom en España. A
diferencia de Italia, allí los gitanos
están más integrados y algunos
famosos cantantes y artistas
son de origen gitana, como por
ejemplo Joaquín Cortés, el bailarín
de flamenco.
Pilar es una mujer muy tranquila y
amable y por eso nuestras clases
con ella nos han gustado mucho.
A veces no entendíamos lo que
decía, pero siempre estaba
disponible para repetir sus frases
sin problemas. Utilizamos estas
ultimas palabras para dar las
gracias a Pilar por su ayuda y su
presencia.
