Welcome to Symbiosis Institute of International Business (SIIB) !!
In the rapidly changing economic and business landscape, need for managers with
global perspective and understanding International Business has become even more
important for modern day organizations.
SIIB established in 1992 is one of the premier B-schools in India which caters to
these needs of the business by offering global focus in specialized fields such as
International Business, Agri Business and Energy and Environment under one
umbrella.
We at SIIB always take pride in two things, first our International
affiliations with various World-class Universities such as Berlin School
of Economics and Law, Germany, Hochschule Bremen, University of
Applied Science, Germany, Sheffield Hallam University (SHU), UK, Hochschule

The year 1992 had witnessed that India had opened
up its doors to foreign investments and ushered in
liberalization of the economy. Understanding the significance
of this landmark event, Symbiosis Institute of International
Business was setup to prepare managers and leaders for
a growing India, in a growing world. With a pilot course
of MBA in International Business (1992), the institute
has continued the trend of keeping itself on par with the
demands of the business world and this led to the
introduction of MBA in Agriculture Business (2004)
and MBA in Energy & Environment (2009). With
functional courses in Marketing, Human Resources,
Finance
and
Supply
Chain
Management
among
others, the institute takes every effort to groom students
who are ready for the challenges of a developing nation.
ABOUT US
Learning
is
imparted
through
guest
lectures,
industry and port visits, specialized workshops conducted by
industry professionals in addition to classroom studies.
Students of MBA in International Business can specialize
in one of the following - Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain
Management and Human resources, depending on
their aptitude and career choice. All specializations
focus on domestic as well as international management
practices. The students of all these courses participate in an
8 week-long summer project at a company in a sector of their
choice to bridge the gap between learning and application.
In addition to this, SIIB has a number of student exchange
programs. To name a few, a student exchange
program with the Hoschule Bremen University of Applied
Sciences, Germany, a structured annual academic
activity since 2001. It is aimed at providing the
students with an opportunity to gain a global perspective in
management. SIIB also has a tie up with Berlin School of
Economics & Law (BSEL) for a credit exchange program since
year 2013.

The curriculum incorporates subjects focusing on
International Trade, Marketing and Finance along
with subjects pertaining to the Indian business
scenario. This course structure has been very well

The one-month summer school at Hochschule Bremen, University of Applied Sciences, Germany is an
annual program. About 20 students are selected by SIIB and the visit is scheduled in the month of July, every
year. The visit to Bremen, Germany is a structured academic activity. Lectures are held every day and many
leading personalities visit the school to interact with the students on various topics. The program covers the
following broad areas: - European Economy, Cases in International Marketing Management, Global Management
Concepts & Controversies, Intercultural Communication, ir & sea transport, Benchmarking in Logistics.
CREDIT EXCHANGE PROGRAM BERLIN SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS & LAW, GERMANY
In the year 2011, SIIB started a credit exchange program with BSEL, Germany with an objective to add the
dimension of Consulting in the international context, to the existing MBA program in International business.
The MBA – IB program of SIIB provides a strong emphasis on international business with special focus on the
chosen functional specializations – Finance, Marketing, Supply Chain Management & HR whereas the MA –
International Business & Consulting [International Strategic Management] at BSEL prepares the students for
strategic cross-functional competencies, required in the international arena. Thus the students stand to benefit dually.
SEMESTER EXCHANGE PROGRAM, FLENSBURG UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES,
GERMANY
The Flensburg University of Applied Sciences is one of Germany’s leading universities offering a wide range of
Bachelors’ & Masters’ level programs. In the year 2014, SIIB started a semester exchange program with Flensburg
University of Applied Sciences,Germany. Under this program, the selected students spend one full semester in
Flensburg University, Germany.The study involves a mixture of knowledge-based learning through classroom
sessions and skills-based learning through projects and group assignments.
SEMESTER EXCHANGE PROGRAM WITH SHEFFIELD HALLAM UNIVERSITY [SHU], UK
Being one of the UK’s most progressive and innovative universities, Sheffield Hallam is a multicultural institution
with a vibrant and diverse student population consisting of over 4,000 international students from 120 different
countries. The Sheffield Hallam University, located in the city of Sheffield, is the fourth largest in the UK with
more than 33,000 students, 4,360 staff and 572 courses. The study involves a mixture of knowledge-based
learning through classroom sessions and skills-based learning through projects and group assignments.

SIIB’s flagship program is the MBA in
International Business. Started as an initiative
under the Symbiosis Umbrella, SIIB was amongst
the first institutes in the country to introduce the
MBA in International Business. The International
Business is an intensive, two year, residential,
post-graduate degree program
specifically
designed for a rewarding career in global business
management. This program is a unique blend of
theories and practices that prepares the students
for domestic markets as well as business on a
global platform.
MBA in Agri Business was started to build
managers who can cater to the needs of all the
stakeholders involved in agriculture by meeting
their demands and providing them the best
services. The program focuses on areas such as
Agri Input marketing, Commodity trading, Agricultural supply-chain management, procurement
management, Agricultural Finance and Micro
Finance etc. The curriculum drives students

Moving beyond common sense, good interpersonal skills and theoretical knowledge, Human Resource specialization at
SIIB focuses on managing people, the human resource of the organization. The students are inducted into core HR topics
right from second semester of the MBA course. The course is structured to provide students with the knowledge to recruit,
select, train, evaluate and compensate employees. Students learn how changes in the workplace, such as governmental
regulations, IR, global HR, Comp & Ben and organizational transformations influence the performance and productivity
of workers. Technical knowledge and practical skills for dealing with a multicultural workforce offer students new ideas
on leadership and effective tools for managing human resource. The students are exposed to many field jobs and industry
visits to gain firsthand knowledge about the functioning of HR law in the factories and offices. The course curriculum is
constantly upgraded to inculcate the ever changing HR trends in the market and is backed by facilitators with vast

The curriculum design and pedagogy emphasize the development of students’ skills and abilities to apply management
theories and concepts to live problems of business and industry. Students are expected to achieve high standards of
excellence. The teaching methods include–lectures, case studies, seminars, assignments, live projects, group
discussions, business games, outbound based experiential learning activities, educational excursions, role plays, simulation
exercises, structured and unstructured group work and field visits. The emphasis is on involving the students in learning

SUPPLY CHAIN BATCH
Supply Chain Management at SIIB, is a multidisciplinary programme designed to help the students conceive innovative
strategies. The basics of supply chain management is a core subject in the 1st semester; while the students opting for
Supply Chain Management learn further about the subject through the courses: Advanced Supply Chain Management and
Materials Management in the 2nd semester.
At SIIB, the students not only learn the subjects but apply them in solving real life case studies as part of the course.
The curriculum for the 3rd Semester is designed in such a way that the students are acquainted with the corporate
environment well in advance from the lectures rendered by the visiting faculties with years of relevant industrial experience.
The students voluntarily undergo certifications like SCM- EXE provided by CII, CSCP,CPIM etc. awarded by APICS.
The concept of learning does not end in classroom lectures; the management cum cultural event of SIIB, Ignisense, has
an exclusive event “OPIUM”, addressing Supply Chain Management; where management students from all over India
participate to claim themselves the best Operations Manager. The students of the Supply Chain batch also organize their
flagship event “Aarohan” where dignitaries from the corporate world are invited to address the students. The event also
comprises of simulation games based on the concepts from supply chain management.

Capsim is a global leader in business simulation technology and

SAP ERP is enterprise resource planning software developed by the
German company SAP SE. SAP ERP incorporates the key business
functions of an organization. Business Processes included in SAP ERP
include Operations (Sales & Distribution, Materials Management,
Production Planning, Logistics Execution, and Quality Management)
Financials (Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Financial
Supply Chain Management) and Human Capital Management (Payroll,
e-Recruiting).

Lean Six Sigma at many organizations relates to pursuit of
perfection and waste elimination. Lean Six Sigma is a set of practices to
symmetrically improve processes by eliminating defects. A defect
is defined as failure of a product, process or a service in meeting
requirements of internal or external customers. The Lean Six Sigma
DMAIC process (define, measure, analyse, improve, control) is an
improvement system for existing processes falling below
specification and looking for incremental improvement. This
program is considered an industry Benchmark, primarily due to the
