Here we get the re-release, firstly appeared in 2011, of the one-man-project Wende of the gloomy protagonist
Zamiel from the U.S. state Washington. So far, so bad. All of a sudden I realize why there is one or other one-manproject of Black Metal. Quite simple, there is a music lover of the heavy sounds who'd like to be in a band as well. It
so happens that he doesn't have a special talent and thus he conceives an idea:" Hmm, I can't do anything, so I make
some noise and call it Black Metal."
As a result he plays some oh so dark chords on the keyboard to create interludes lasting over 6 minutes. Even John
Carpenter (The Fog, The End) himself would not have brushed his teeth for this in the morning. However, this
gloomy scenario is repeated in nearly every song. On the top one can listen to the common sounds that also remind
of cheap video game soundtracks.
Extra-long songs wih the same boring riffs will be celebrated in an annoying way to complete the whole thing only
for being oh so trve oldschool. Darkthrone itself would never ever use such riffs. Here one can find confused power
chords randomly played on the guitar in combination with blast beat drums. And this is only to quickly tinker a song.
Actually there are only three songs at the end of the day, if one will drop the three boring interludes that try to
create an atmosphere.
Oh, of course, Zamiel rattles in an irrelevant Black Metal manner that it's a sheer delight. But for me it is rather
boring due to the triviality of presentation. It is also boring, because this crap seems so underground and trve. Here
one rides boldly on the Black Metal wave and scrubs riffs that are only invalid. Not that I have anything against some
music of "Underground" in this genre, but then it should have a fundamental essence and an honest nature. But this
doesn't work at all!
Oh well, there are also the german songtitles and the oh so mystical albumtitle.Whatever, it really doesn't matter.
Well, the Black Metal elite which completely refuses every taste, should delight in it since it is so trve. I think it is
completely bullshit. But as you like it.
Conclusion:
So,I go for a drink and found my own one-man-Black-Metal-Band named "Wende or Verende". Zamiel gets only one
point to have something to believe in, otherwise it would be my first zero rating.
