President’s View
Summer is slowly coming to an end but the festivities at Club Heidelberg are continuing at an
outstanding pace.
Our Dances in June and July were well received by all who participated. The new bands that
played at the Club were just excellent and they made sure the dance floor was always occupied.
To everyone who missed these events I can only say “Don’t let yesterday use up too much of
today”. Also know which bridges to cross and which to burn. This is your club don’t just cherish
the memories you have but continue creating more new memories.
Our picnic was a huge success. Thanks to “Chef Leo”, the Ladies’ Auxiliary and all volunteers
who helped to make it a memorable afternoon. Quite a few tables were added because of the
tremendous turnout. The band from Thüringen was just excellent. They along with DJ John
Pries got the guests to work off their consumed calories on the dance floor by providing lively
continuous music.
Now a very busy time is coming upon us. Dirndlball, Jimmy Flynn Comedy Show, Weinfest,
Card Night, two days of Oktoberfest and not to forget Line Dancing every Friday Night. The
Petra Böck Show from Germany will be held in November.
Karl & Trudy Schmidt from Mon Bijou are renting the Restaurant for LUNCHES ONLY at
the present time starting at 11:30 a.m. from Wednesday to Sundays. They have daily Specials
and an excellent menu with very inexpensive prices. Come out, have a great meal and say Hi to
our new tenants and welcome them.
Many group activities are starting up in the Fall. Please provide the editor with all the info so
the members are made aware of all that is going on at the Club.
I would like to thank all the many volunteers, the Board of Directors and all the members and
guests that are helping to keep Club Heidelberg with its traditions and history a highly respected
pillar of the multi-cultural community here in St. Catharines.

Editor’s remarks
The Dirndl ball was a super success! We all enjoyed dancing to the music of Walter Ostanek and
his band. The food was superb; everyone said that Eugen did an excellent job! Choosing the best
dirndl was exciting and we thank Paul Epp Fruit Farms for contributing fruit baskets for prizes.

Have you heard ….?
The restaurant at Club Heidelberg is now open for lunch from Wednesday to Sunday beginning at
11:30 a.m. It is being run by the owners of Mon Bijou. I have eaten lunch there several times and
enjoyed the food and attentive service immensely.
I hope that the lunch time venture is successful and encourages them to open for dinner as well.
