Vier Rollen für Tilda Swinton –
B3 präsentiert die einflussreichsten Medienkünstlerinnen
(Frankfurt/Main, 21. August 2015) Gleich vier verschiedenen Rollen spielt
Hollywoodstar Tilda Swinton in dem Film „Teknolust“ der US-amerikanischen
Regisseurin Lynn Hershman Leeson. Das absurde Science-Fiction-Drama über
Cyber-Identitäten, Biogenetik, Geschlechtskonstruktionen und sexuelle
Selbstbestimmung im Zeitalter des Internets wird im Rahmen des Film-Programms
der B3 Biennale des bewegten Bildes gezeigt. Die feministische US-Künstlerin und
Technikpionierin Lynn Hershman Leeson, Jahrgang 1941, gilt als Vorreiterin der
Medien- und der interaktiven Kunst. Auf der B3 stellt sie außerdem ihre Filme
„!W.A.R. Women Art Revolution – A secret history" und „First Person Plural: The
Electronic Diaries" vor.
Deutschlands wichtigstes Kreativfestival B3 präsentiert in seinem 2015-er
Programm neben Hershman Leeson weitere einfluss- und erfolgreiche Frauen aus
Kunst, Technologie und Medien. „Unsere Teilnehmerinnen und Sprecherinnen
zeichnen sich dadurch aus, dass sie mit ihren Werken die internationale Kunstund Medienszene prägen, dabei aber aktiv politisch Stellung beziehen und
gesellschaftlich Einfluss nehmen wollen“, erklärt B3-Festivalleiter Prof. Bernd
Kracke.
Zu Gast auf der B3: Keren Elazari (Israel)
Keren Elazari ist eine der führenden Sicherheitsexpertinnen im Cyber-Bereich und
Hacktivistin. In ihren zahlreichen öffentlichen Vorträgen auf den wichtigsten
Technologiekonferenzen der Welt thematisiert sie immer wieder die
gesellschaftliche und politische Bedeutung von Hackern. Ihr Credo: „Das Schöne
an Hackern liegt darin, dass sie uns zwingen, uns weiterzuentwickeln und zu
verbessern.“ Ihr Berufswunsch wurde im Alter von 15 Jahren durch Angelina Jolie
inspiriert, die 1995 in dem Film „Hackers – Im Netz des FBI“ eine Hauptrolle
spielte.
Zu Gast auf der B3: Helena Acosta (Venezuela)
Helena Acosta ist eine in New York lebende, venezolanische Digital-Künstlerin und
Aktivistin. Sie ist Gründerin der Producción Aleatoria, einem Ort zur Ermittlung und
Förderung digitaler Kunst sowie sozial engagierter künstlerischer Projekte.
Desweiteren hat sie die visuelle Aktivismus-Bewegung „Demontage der
Simulation“, eine venezolanische Initiative für partizipativen visuellen Aktivismus
mitbegründet. Diese Bewegung entstand aus einer Facebook Versuchsgruppe
heraus. Beweggrund zur Gründung waren Verletzungen der Menschenrechte, die
aufgrund eines Studentenproteste gegen den venezolanischen Präsident Nicolas
Maduro im Februar 2014 angeklagt wurden. Acostas Arbeiten konzentriere sich
auf die Medienkünste als sozial engagierte Formate.
Zu Gast auf der B3: Jasmina Kallay (Irland)
Dr. Jasmina Kallay ist Drehbuchautorin, Schriftstellerin, Dozentin und TransmediaGestalterin. 2012 schrieb sie Beat Girl, einen Jugendroman, der als Spielfilm und
EMMY-nominierte TV-Serie verfilmt wurde. Kallay sieht die Medien-Zukunft in
virtuellen und erweiterten Realitäten und prophezeit eine „bildschirmlose Zukunft“.
Zu Gast auf der B3: Maryam Tafakory (Iran)
Maryam Tafakory ist eine Animator- und Filmemacherin. Sie lebt und arbeitet in
London. In Ihrer teils-dokumentarischen Arbeit erforscht Sie allegorische Formen
der visuellen Erzählung, den inneren Monologe und das Geschichtenerzählen. Ihr
Projekt Taklif befasst sich mit dem Thema Kinderheirat, welche in vielen Regionen
der Welt nach wie vor weit verbreitet ist. www.maryamtafakory.com
Zu Gast auf der B3: Maria Papanikolaou (Griechenland)
Maria Papanikolaou ist diplomierte Rechtswissenschaftlerin mit einem Abschluss
an der Athener Universität. Später erwarb sie einen Abschluss für bildende Kunst
an der Königlichen Akademie der Kunst in den Niederlanden. Ihr Projekt „Die
Kunst/der Akt zu fliehen“ konzentriert sich auf die Fantasie, die Handlung und die
Bescheinigung einer Flucht. Inspiriert wird Maria in Ihrer Kunst sehr durch ihren
ersten Abschluss in Recht und durch ihre praktischen Erfahrungen in der Abteilung
für Verbrechen am Obersten Gericht in Athen. Ihre Installationen behandeln Fälle,
die sich mit Menschenrechtsverletzungen beschäftigen.
Über B3
Die zweite Ausgabe der B3 Biennale des bewegten Bildes findet vom 7. bis 11.
Oktober 2015 unter dem Leitthema „Expanded Senses. Mit allen Sinnen erleben
und Grenzen verschieben“ in Frankfurt und der Rhein-Main-Region statt. Ziel der
2013 gestarteten Biennale ist es, eine breit angelegte interdisziplinäre und
genreübergreifende Allianz für das bewegte Bild zu schaffen. Das Debüt 2013
überzeugte auf Anhieb rund 25.000 Besucher aus zwölf Ländern. Veranstalter der
B3 Biennale des bewegten Bildes ist die Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach
(HfG).
Die Träger der B3 sind das Hessische Ministerium für Wissenschaft und Kunst
(HMWK), die Hessische Landesanstalt für privaten Rundfunk und neue Medien
(LPR Hessen) und die Stadt Frankfurt am Main. Gefördert wird die
B3 vom Kulturfonds Frankfurt Rhein Main vom Kulturamt sowie von
derWirtschaftsförderung Frankfurt. Stifter des B3 Preises BEN für das
künstlerische Lebenswerk sind Sylvia und Friedrich von Metzler. Partner sind

Four Roles for Tilda Swinton –
B3 presents the most influential women media artists
(Frankfurt/Main, August 21, 2015) Hollywood star Tilda Swinton slips into four
different roles in the film “Teknolust” by the American director Lynn Hershman
Leeson. The absurd science fiction drama about cyber-identities, biogenetics,
gender constructions and sexual self-determination in the internet age will be
screened in the context of the film program at the B3 Biennale of the Moving
Image. The feminist American artist and technology pioneer Lynn Hershman
Leeson, born in 1941, is considered a pioneer of media and interactive art. At the
B3 she will also present her films “!W.A.R. Women Art Revolution – A secret
history” and “First Person Plural: The Electronic Diaries.”
In addition to Hershman Leeson, the 2015 program at B3, Germany’s most
important creative festival, will present additional influential and successful women
from the fields of art, technology, and media. “Our participants and speakers are
distinguished by the fact that they influence the international art and media scenes
with their work, but also actively take political positions and aim to exert societal
influence,” explained B3 Festival Director Prof. Bernd Kracke.
Special Guest at the B3: Keren Elazari (Israel)
Keren Elazari is one of the leading experts in the field of cyber security and also a
hacktivist. In her numerous talks at the world’s most important technology
conferences she always emphasized the societal and political importance of
hackers. Her motto: “The beauty of hackers is that they force us to evolve and
improve.” Her career dream was inspired by Angelina Jolie, who played the main
role in the 1995 movie “Hackers” – when Elazari was 15 years old.
Special Guest at the B3: Helena Acosta (Venezuela)
Helena Acosta is a New York-based Venezuelan digital artist and activist. She is
the founder of Producción Aleatoria, a place of investigation and supporting
digitally engaged art as well as the visual activism. In addition, she helped found
“Destruction of Simulation,” a Venezuelan initiative for participative visual activism.
This movement emerged from an experimental Facebook group. The reason for
the foundation was the violations of human rights that followed a student protest
against the Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in February 2014. Acosta’s
work concentrates on the media arts as socially committed formats.
Special Guest at the B3: Jasmina Kallay (Ireland)
Dr. Jasmina Kallay (http://www.huffingtonpost.de/jasmina-kallay/das-ende-desbildschirms_b_7350620.html) is a screenplay writer, author, instructor and
transmedia designer. In 2012 she wrote Beat Girl, a young adult novel, which was
adapted as a movie and an Emmy-nominated TV series. Kallay views the media
future as virtual and expanded realities and prophesies a “screen-free future.”
Special Guest at the B3: Maryam Tafakory (Iran)
Maryam Tafakory is a filmmaker. She lives and works in London. In her partially
documentary work she investigates allegoric forms of visual narrative, inner
monologues, and storytelling. In her project entitled Taklif she tackles the topic of
arranged marriages with children, which is still widespread in many regions of the

Zu Gast auf der B3: Maria Papanikolaou (Griechenland)
Maria Papanikolaou graduated with a law degree from the University of Athens.
She later acquired a degree in Fine Arts from the Royal Academy of Arts, The
Netherlands. Her project “The A(r)ct of Escaping,” concentrates on the fantasy,
the act and the attestation of escaping. Papanikolaou is inspired by her first degree
in law and through her practical experiences at the Court of Cassation in Athens.
Her installations focus on cases that deal with violations of human rights.
About B3:
The second edition of the B3 Biennale of the Moving Image will take place in
Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main region from October 7-11, 2015 under the motto
“Expanded Senses: Experiencing with all senses and shifting boundaries.” The
goal of the Biennale, which was started in 2013, is to create a broad-based
interdisciplinary and cross-genre alliance for the moving image. The debut in 2013
was an immediate success, with around 25,000 visitors from twelve countries. The
