The London Design Festival, which will run from 19-27 September, is a platform
for the capital’s major trade shows – 100% Design, Decorex International,
designjunction, Focus/15 and Tent London & Super Brands – to showcase
exhibitors from the UK and around the world. These Design Destinations are crucial
for established and emerging designers, manufacturers and brands to present their
products and innovations to new markets.
Since its inception in 2003, the Festival has also nurtured a growing number
of Design Districts - areas of the city where there is a concentration of design
expertise, retail outlets and creative enterprise. These Design Districts have been
steadily growing in number and scale and this year there will be seven Districts:
Brompton, Chelsea, Clerkenwell, Islington, Queens Park and Shoreditch with
Bankside as the newest player. Each of the areas, variously known as quarters,
triangles and districts, will organise a programme of exhibitions, events, open
studios as well as retail and community engagement. All of them will organise late
night openings, parties and events on specific nights during the Festival.

100% DESIGN
OLYMPIA LONDON

100% Design is the capital’s biggest and original contemporary design show for
industry professionals. This year sees it celebrate its 21st edition in a brand new
home, Olympia London. Staged in the dramatic Grand and West Halls, the show
will take place across two levels and feature five distinct sections including Interiors,
Design & Build, Kitchens & Bathrooms, Workplace and Emerging Brands. The
popular talks programme, Talks with 100% Design, will also return with headline
speakers including Ilse Crawford.
Based upon the central theme ‘Design in Colour’, 100% Design 2015 has
collaborated closely with trend forecasters WGSN among many others to bring to
life the visual experience of using colour across interiors and the built environment.
The show will present specially commissioned editorial features, world-leading
seminars and live content, alongside over 400 UK and international exhibitors. Key

Showcasing leading British and international luxury design brands, Decorex
International 2015 returns to the historic grounds of Syon Park, West London this
September offering a mix of new talent and established companies. Over the course
of four days, visitors to the show will have the opportunity to see new collections
from more than 400 exhibitors, showcasing the latest designs from furniture,
lighting, fabrics, wallpapers and decorative accessories to flooring, kitchens,
bathrooms, tableware and bedding. In celebration of this year’s show theme – the
future of luxury – four interactive installation areas, ‘Making Luxury’, highlight the
skill and craftsmanship behind leading companies, while the seminar programme
will explore this theme with a series of talks and panel discussions featuring leading
figures from the world of interior design.
Other highlights include the champagne bar - this year designed by renowned
interior designer Russell Sage and Future Heritage. Following the success of Future
Heritage in 2014, this acclaimed feature area returns this year with applied arts and
design critic, Corinne Julius, exploring materiality with a select group of craftspeople
working in materials ranging from wood and ceramics to glass, metal and plastic.

2015 sees the fifth edition of designjunction take over two new central London
venues: The College, formerly home to Central Saint Martins, and Victoria House
B1, both on Southampton Row.
designjunction will be a key destination for cutting-edge design, pop-up shops, live
workshops, flash-factories, installations and design masterclasses. The College
will showcase over 100 leading contemporary design brands over five floors of the
Lethaby building as well as other spaces within the campus. Brands to look out
for include: Fritz Hansen, Herman Miller, TON, Vitra, La Chance, Objekten, James
Burleigh, Benjamin Hubert, Channels, James UK, String Furniture, Made in Ratio,
Dare Studio, MOLO, BoConcept, EOQ, Modus, Serralunga and PROOFF. The
ground floor of The College will host lightjunction, with displays from some of the
world’s leading decorative lighting brands including Fontana Arte, Marset, Brokis,
Blackbody, CTO Lighting, RUBN, Orsjo, Rothchild & Bickers and Northern Lighting,
while Wrong for HAY will showcase its latest lighting collection in the main atrium.
Transport for London (TfL) celebrates the theme ‘Transported by Design’ with a
life-size pop-up Underground station inside The College, made entirely from wood.
Designed and hand-painted by Camilla Barnard, it will showcase both classic and
brand new TfL design collections.
Across the road Victoria House B1 will house more than 50 design-led pop-up
shops offering all the latest home accessories, luxury leather goods and cuttingedge tech accessories. Shops joining the line-up include Nest.co.uk, Richard
Brendon, HEAL’S, Skultuna, Larsson & Jennings, Design Museum Shop, Native
Union, Uniform Wares, Cherchbi, Melin Tregwynt, R and many more.
At Victoria House B1, Nest.co.uk will host daily Design Clinics offering the
opportunity to book free one-to-one sessions with interior design experts, 2
Lovely Gays. Victoria House B1 will also host the second edition of Teddy’s Wish
charity project, A Child’s Dream - this year in partnership with Vitra - with twentyone re-interpretations of the iconic Eames Elephant, customised by designers
including Lee Broom, Zandra Rhodes, FRONT, Eley Kishimoto, Sir Kenneth Grange,
Sebastian Wrong and Patternity among others.

Focus/15 is a leading event for designers, architects and style-seekers, with
a diversity of international brands offering inspiring and creative ideas. Hosted
by the Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour, Focus/15 will present over 500 worldrenowned brands at 103 Design Centre showrooms (as well as outside participants
in Chelsea) with the latest collections of fabrics, furniture, lighting, wallcoverings,
accessories, kitchens, bathrooms, outdoor living, tiles and carpets.
A busy programme of talks and events includes ‘Conversations in Design’ with
influential names from the design world while ‘Access All Areas’ showroom sessions
sees tremendous growth with over 100 events bringing new insights at workshops,
talks and forums. Additionally, there are over 103 showrooms taking part in
Focus/15. International names include Armani/Casa, C & C Milano, Christopher

Tent London & Super Brands London have rapidly become the host fairs for
national pavilions during the Festival, with 450 exhibitors from 29 countries. Some
will be themed around a design discipline such as the Czech Republic’s 2015
Glass Mania by Umprum academy, or will be a cross-disciplinary selection by
producers such as Fulgen for 100% Norway 2015. Confirmed pavilions will include
the updated Consistency & Change in Korean Craft exhibition, a Swedish Design
Pavilion & Café in Super Brands and The Design & Crafts Council of Ireland with
an exhibition of new work from Irish designers and makers, part of Irish Design
2015. Additionally, Taste Taiwan celebrates World Design Capital 2016 with a
dining experience, the Italian Trade Commission will present a mix of designers
and brands from four southern Italian regions while KADK NOW! will showcase a
selection of work by Danish graduate designers. Finland presents Finnish Form for
the first time alongside the Australian Furniture Association. Culture.pl will showcase
contemporary Polish ceramics, while textile brand Utopia Goods’ new range is
inspired by the Australian landscape.
Craft has become an essential part of Tent London, from international installations
to independent designers taking their first steps. Etsy unites UK contemporary craft
with its Four Corners of Craft exhibition, in partnership with the Crafts Council and
Tent London, highlighting the variety and quality of work from talented designermakers including ceramicists, glass artists and jewellery makers. Dulux will make its
debut at Tent with Colour Futures - The Global Trends Forecast for 2016.
For the first time, Tent will present a feature area called Techable Home for techenabled design for the home. Techable Home will be paired with a Tech Meets
Design talks programme at Second Home – London’s newest Tech community
space on Hanbury Street, E1.
Now in its 5th year, Super Brands London has firmly established itself as the
place to see a selection of the worlds’ most progressive furniture, lighting and
interiors brands. New brands showing include Neo Craft from Germany, Yask from
Switzerland and Caesarstone UK.

DESIGN DISTRICTS
In 2015 there will be seven official Design Districts spread across the capital during
the Festival, each presenting the very best of designers and design brands within its
shops, showrooms, studios and galleries. Design Districts are areas where there are
distinct concentrations of design activity that can be traversed easily on foot. Each
District is organised locally and independently under the umbrella of the London
Design Festival and each hosts its own dedicated evening for the public offering
special events, late night openings and hospitality. This year will see a new Design
District, Bankside, which will encompass Southwark, Waterloo and Borough.

BANKSIDE DESIGN
DISTRICT
Bankside is a brand new Design District for 2015 and the first south of the river
for London Design Festival 2015. Since Tate Modern and the Millennium Bridge
launched in 2000 the area has evolved to become a creative hub, home to many
galleries, design studios, architectural practices and creative agencies.
The Bankside Design District spans from Borough Market to the Oxo Tower and
over twenty exciting events and activities are lined up to showcase the creative
industry within the area, from workshops to walking tours, exhibitions and outdoor
installations.
Southwark Street will be transformed into an outdoor gallery with a series of
on-street installations which bring pedestrian crossings to life. The Colourful
Crossings project includes a collaboration between a photographer and digital
programmer which uses an old painterly technique and a new material to create an
optical illusion.
Walks and workshops will be a key element of the Bankside Design District. Better
Letters will host a Hand Lettering Workshop at Borough Market, the UK’s oldest
food and drink market, with lettering inspiration all around. The hand-lettering
workshops will be led by an ambassador for the sign painting industry, Mike
Meyers. A Bankside Ghostsigns walking tour will reveal some of London’s most
iconic signs, exploring local, advertising and design history. The Contemporary
Applied Arts gallery will showcase ‘Resonance: Making, metal and place’, an
exhibition focusing on metal in the urban environment which will coincide with a
guided walk through Bankside with the exhibition’s curator, looking at metal in the
public realm. Local calligrapher Paul Antonio Scribe will run a series of lettering
masterclasses in his studio as well as a fascinating talks on the history of the
alphabet, while The Marketing Store will be hosting a 24-hour CreativeClinic offering
help to businesses with a design problem or needing a brand refresh.
The iconic Oxo Tower Wharf, home to over 20 design studios and exhibition spaces
including gallery@oxo and Bargehouse, has joined forces with several other leading
Bankside and South Bank design businesses for the Bankside Design District.
The hub for the Bankside Design District is design hotel citizenM. London Design
Festival ambassadors will be on hand to answer questions and visitors can pick up
a Festival guide or relax and recharge in between events in the lounge. The hotel
will also host an exhibition, a collaboration between British footwear label Clarks
and 14 UK-based artists and designers, celebrating 65 years of the iconic Clarks
Desert Boot and will also hand over its bar to a mixologist on Wednesday night to
celebrate.
London-born designer lighting label, Buster + Punch, work with rare, solid materials
to make extraordinary items for everyday use and during the Festival they will open
the doors of their debut London Bridge showroom to give an exclusive preview of
their new HARDWARE range. A number of works by Britain’s pre-eminent stone
carver, Emily Young, will form a stunning Sculpture Garden at the prestigious NEO
Bankside development with Native Land on London’s South Bank acting as both
a continuation and a broadening of Young’s presence on the South Bank. NEO
Bankside is also collaborating with Contemporary Applied Arts (CAA), London’s
leading multi-disciplinary gallery for finely-designed British craft, for a special open
house event with Native Land on 26 September. Visitors will be given rare access
to one of the luxury penthouse apartments in which a curated selection of ceramics
- large and small, functional and sculptural – from CAA’s range of makers will be
displayed.
At Allies and Morrison, Line Work will bring together selected architectural drawings
by Ian Sutherland in his 26 years with Allies and Morrison showing early hand
drawn images to large scale prints generated from computer models. Using a wide
range of materials and techniques, including ceramics, glass, jewellery, metalwork,
product design and textiles, the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) will showcase
work from The School of Craft and Design, UCA craft and design work by new
graduates and staff. Visit Mondrian London at Sea Containers, the Tom Dixondesigned hotel that opened in September 2014, for design ethos tours with the
lead designer, while at The Residency at Sea Containers House visitors are invited
to view an exhibition of Moooi’s edited collection including the UK debut of some of
the pieces from their 2015 collection. Also here, for three days only, award-winning
architects and workplace specialists BDG will be allowing people a glimpse at the
competition-winning entry and design for Ogilvy Group UK’s new home for next year
at Sea Containers.
The Loophouse studio will present contemporary rugs, throws and blankets with
cushions, while the Colebrook Bosson Saunders showroom will be the place to
recharge your phone and personal devices with the new power and lighting device,
Cubert. Join service design and digital consultancy Pancentric as they host a
three-day ‘Imagine tomorrow’ jam with the Design Thinkers Group and at Wragge
Lawrence Graham a stellar line up of world-famous designers will be discussing
how best to protect, exploit and extend the life of your designs.

Late Night: Wednesday 23 September
BROMPTON DESIGN
DISTRICT
Longest-standing District Brompton Design District is a partnership of leading
international brands, independent retailers, neighbourhood restaurants and cultural
institutions. For the Festival it also hosts a renowned pop-up programme, curated
by design consultant Jane Withers. Participants for 2015 include Skandium, the
Scandinavian design retailer, who will introduce architect and designer Jonas
Lindvall. In the window they will showcase illustrator Klaus Haapaniemi’s new
tableware collection Tanssi, inspired by the Finnish National Opera production.
Mint’s Lina Kanafani, known for her ability to identify new talent, will curate her everextensive festival show, Twisting Tradition.
More new talent will be on show from Sarah van Gameren and Philippe Malouin
who co-curate Platform18 at the RCA as their closing exhibition before moving on
from their roles as tutors in Design Products. In addition, the RCA will present four
separate exhibitions, showing how young creative minds at the RCA are tackling
some of biggest social and environmental issues. Working with a select group of
international design brands, Harrods will showcase Timeless Design which will run
throughout the recently redeveloped second-floor Home and third-floor Furniture
departments.
From the Italian brands on Brompton Road, B&B Italia will showcase new releases
from their 2015 collection with designs by Antonio Citterio, Patricia Urquiola, Vincent
Van Duysen and Naoto Fukasawa. Just around the corner Cassina will celebrate the
50th anniversary of the original LC designs, one of the most significant collections
of contemporary design. Boffi presents the UK launch of the Salinas kitchen by
Patricia Urquiola together with the latest collections for the kitchen, bathroom and
storage system. Poltrona Frau opens its first flagship showroom in Brompton Cross.
Close by, British cabinet maker Smallbone of Devizes celebrates craft and design
during the Brompton Design District evening on Thursday 24 with Candle Chandler
Rachel Vosper. From iconic names in modern design to emerging innovators, The
Conran Shop will showcase the best of their handpicked curation of global talent
via interactive design trails. The Austrian Cultural Forum London will be showing
designs by Martin Mostböck, the Austrian architect and designer. The Gabbertas
Studio is collaborating with Hainsworth, the oldest and probably the most innovative
woollen textile mill in England, to present an exhibition of new, recent and favourite
designs reinterpreted using selected Hainsworth cloths.
Oyuna Tserendorj and her brand OYUNA have been pushing the cashmere of
her native Mongolia in bold new directions with a design-led approach and three
diverse projects will make up her new exhibition BYGONE // REBORN inspired
by the discovery of a centuries-old Mongolian ‘deel’ - an outer garment worn
by nomadic horseback warriors. London-based non-profit cultural organisation
The Mosaic Rooms will present Tracing Landscapes, an exhibition supported
by Arts Council England, of new multimedia works by spatial designer Dia Batal,
using the art of Arabic calligraphy to transform text into objects. Imperial College
London invites visitors to meet the scientists and engineers applying engineering
to design concepts at Designs For Life. Tap into their creativity, catch up with the
latest research and get hands-on with their products and experiences at evening
of interactive workshops, displays and surprising encounters. The exhibition at The
Map House will be an anthology of 10 years of Money Maps by Justine Smith, the
first time all her maps have been exhibited together, and will showcase her first ever
London Map incorporating a new form of currency, gold leaf. Visitors to Brompton
can also pop over to the Serpentine Pavilion 2015 designed by award-winning
Spanish studio selgascano.

Late Night: Thursday 24 September
CHELSEA DESIGN
QUARTER
Chelsea Design Quarter is London’s centre for interior design. It has the largest and
most diverse selection of established interiors specialists concentrated in one area,
bringing together the capital’s most vibrant showrooms and creative communities all
within a stroll along the King’s Road, Lots Road and Imperial Wharf.
This year participating partners are staging an inspiring programme of designled activities including high-profile talks, must-see exhibitions and artisan
demonstrations. Antiques gallery Guinevere will celebrate London Design Festival
with award-winning interior designer Alidad who is creating a scheme for one of
its windows on the King’s Road. Alidad will also be in conversation on Monday 21
September with Gabby Deeming, Decoration Editor at House & Garden, discussing
his inspiration for this scheme.
The Rug Company will preview a new collection by Paul Smith at a special
exhibition in its King’s Road showroom. The exhibition will celebrate 15 years of
creative collaboration, exploring the evolution of Paul Smith’s designs while paying
homage to his renowned skill for creating timeless designs that perfectly marry
traditional craftsmanship with British eccentricity and wit. Deirdre Dyson Carpets
& Rugs will welcome visitors into her newly unveiled Carpet Gallery, an innovative
space offering a chance to enjoy Deirdre’s carpets as works of art. Deirdre will be
signing copies of her new book ‘Walking on Art’ (Thames & Hudson) on the evening
of 21 September.
Go Modern, specialists in contemporary high-end furniture and European design,
will showcase new products for AW 15 featuring marble, velvet and painted metal
finishes. Roca London Gallery will have an exhibition called Childhood Recollections:
Memory in Design from 17 September 2015 – 23 January 2016 curated by Clare
Farrow. Zaha Hadid, Kengo Kuma, Daniel Libeskind, Denise Scott Brown, Nieto
Sobejano and Philip Treacy reveal the childhood recollections that have shaped their
outstanding visions and work.
John Cullen Lighting will present a dynamic architectural lighting, light art and
library installation in collaboration with Haberdashery, designers of landmark lighting
products and Ultimate Library, creators of bespoke book collections. Joining other
members of the Chelsea Design Quarter, Leather Chairs of Bath will have a late
opening on 21 September at its King’s Road store as they showcase their handdyed, traditionally-upholstered leather sofas and chairs and other English ‘Club’
furniture which can be hand-made to colour and size preference.
Waterworks, the premier luxury bathroom brand from the USA, will be launching
its kitchen brand with over 200 new products in its King’s Road showroom while
Catchpole and Rye, known for their luxurious cast iron baths beautifully made in
their Kent based workshops, will launch new enamel interiors available on their
Copper, Nickel and Brass Bateaus.

CLERKENWELL
DESIGN QUARTER
Clerkenwell Design Quarter focusses on multi-disciplinary design this year with
contributions from leading architects, design companies and jewellers. The
message for this year’s Clerkenwell Design Quarter is all about Discovery.
Clerkenwell is now home to many architectural and design studios and showrooms.
This year, participants within the Clerkenwell Design Quarter include Viaduct
which will present White on White - an exhibition of Scandinavian design from
a new generation. Interface, a worldwide leader in the design and production
of sustainable modular flooring, will host Designing with Nature by Exploration
Architecture. This striking 3D-printed installation will showcase a selection of
projects and prototypes from the studio’s research on sustainable, nature-inspired
designs. Architecture practice J. MAYER H. has designed the latest Sto Werkstatt
exhibition, celebrating artistry of surface, texture and detail in buildings across
Europe, drawing projects from the ECOLA Award Archives, including works by John
Pawson, David Adjaye and David Chipperfield. At INfluence – Create Culture will
launch Indian Design Platform at Studio Egret West. For the first time in London,
this exhibition brings together diverse design studios from India and architectural
practices from London in a week-long exploration and celebration of design. Events
will include the FX Drawing exhibition, resulting from the 2015 FX Competition and
the display will include a selection of freehand drawings by architects and designers.
Craft has always played a major role in the historic community of Clerkenwell. At
Craft Central, Material Consequences, a group exhibition which explores materials,
techniques and the environment, will provide an intriguing insight into the many
making and thought processes involved while opening at The Goldsmiths’ Centre,
A Sense of Jewellery will bring together outstanding examples of modern jewellery
by forty artists and designers made in Britain over the past forty years rediscovering
British jewellery design and celebrating the quality of design thinking and material
innovation which has emerged from independent studios in this period. Emerging
graphic and textile designer William Branton debuts his exciting new collection of
prints, soft furnishings and accessories at the Dreamspace Gallery with Adrem
Group.
Clerkenwell hosts a collection of major furniture showrooms and retailers. Morgan,
designers and manufacturers of contemporary contract furniture, will be launching a
new meeting chair and will also be featuring their new Kyoto and Metro collections
for 2015. To mark the 125th anniversary of Bernhardt Furniture Company,
Bernhardt Design honours the company’s heritage with a new collection of products
by designers Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance, Ross Lovegrove and Jephson Robb,
drawing inspiration from traditional furniture and recreating for today’s world. Italian
design company Moroso will present new furniture by Patricia Urquiola and Ron
Arad which will be exhibited in the UK for the first time at their Rosebery Avenue
Showroom. Staged at their theatrical Holborn Studio and HQ, Fredrikson Stallard’s
‘Momentum’ will be a celebration of the experimental and the rigorous, with new
works spanning the realms of furniture, sculpture, product and print with one-off,
edition and transitory pieces.
Also in the area, creative agency Clinic will ask ‘is there room for the tangible in the
world of digital?’ as they look at how gig posters have always added to the look of
(pop)ular music in Gig Poster Power, an exhibition of the best gig posters past and
present.

ISLINGTON DESIGN
DISTRICT
The Islington Design District returns for its second year, bringing together a growing
collection of design-led shops, showrooms and cafes in the Islington area including
SMUG, Aria, twentytwentyone and Present & Correct.
SMUG will be spearheading the Islington Design District with an exhibition of work
by Dutch ceramist Lenneke Wispelwey. The lower-ground-floor of the design
store is home to CAFÉ SMUG, the hub for IDD. Retailers of design-led furniture,
lighting and accessories, twentytwentyone will launch a range of new lighting by
Barber & Osgerby. Manufactured in Japan by Ozeki, the lanterns employ traditional
methods using bamboo ‘wire’ and handmade mulberry bark paper. The lanterns are
distributed exclusively by twentytwentyone. twentytwentyone will also host the UK
launch of w152 Busby, the new USB lighting collection designed by Sam Hecht and
Kim Colin for Wästberg. A special installation by Industrial Facility will illustrate the
collection’s many uses.
London’s extending table specialist, Adventures in Furniture, will be launching The
Custom Chair concept at its showroom offering a multitude of flexible solutions for
seating, reflecting the desire to create personality and individuality in our spaces.
Presenting Belgian chairmaker Mobitec and showcasing a range of dining chairs,
barstools and counter stools, there will be design-your-own-chair workshops and
product launches. AIF will also feature the new Soft and Soda range with its round
forms, superb comfort and beautiful detailing.
Coexistence will host ‘Terence Woodgate for Punt’ exploring the awardwinning designer’s collaborative relationship with Punt over the last 25 years
and showcasing a collection of Woodgate’s furniture and lighting alongside
complementary pieces from Punt’s collection.
Aria is injecting colour into London’s concrete jungle as Camille Walala transforms
the Aria store from the inside out. Walala has designed an exclusive collection of
furniture, ceramics and prints, ranging from shelving to armchairs, which will be
displayed for London Design Festival. Creating a home-setting installation of her
designs, Walala will make her mark on both the interior and exterior of the store
using digital print and vibrant patterns.
At its new Islington showroom, Freddie Grubb will be showcasing its full range of
distinctive bicycles and accessories amongst some beautifully-crafted furniture
pieces, with authentic sounds from Vifa and minimalist lighting from Montreal-based
Lambert & Fils. northwood will host an exhibition of images and video showing the
hand-loomed process of the skilled artisans who make Armadillo & Co rugs, as well
as work that Armadillo & Co undertake through Fair and Care and the Anganwadi
project to give back to local communities in India. Ruberg Jewellery have teamed
up with artist Frederico Fazenda to create A Room For Jewels, an installation and
display to present its collections of fine contemporary jewellery and new work by
Kamilla Ruberg and selected designers.
Visitors will be able to walk the Islington Design District Trail from Amwell Street
south of Angel, through to the Camden Passage and along Upper Street to
discover new designers, special product launches and one-off exhibitions and
events.

QUEENS PARK
DESIGN DISTRICT
A long-established hub of creativity and international design talent, the Queens Park
Design District event will encompass a series of open studios, live design events,
art installations and workshops centred around Lonsdale Road, Salusbury Road
and Kimberley Road. The relaxed ambience of the Queens Park area comes hand
in hand with a vibrant spirit and an innovative attitude. The Queens Park creative
community is committed to maintaining the most desirable work/life District in the
capital.
This year will see new partners into the District along with established names.
Exhibitors include Bill Amberg Studio who will be hosting an open studio and
showing his Common Collection of benches and stools. Using a signature method
that combines technique with technology, the collection features hand-stitched
leather that has been worked over a CNC routed wood form – the whole process
drawing on modern design processes and traditional saddlery skills.
At The Interior Design School, its annual exhibition will aim to raise awareness
for interiors, demonstrate their relevance in the community and emphasise the
responsibility that designers have to the world.
Located in a growing designers’ community in a corner of Queens Park off
Willesden Lane, Hub Architects will host a small exhibition of recent work in the
London area and present architectural design ideas seeking to protect the fragile
communities surrounding Cambodia’s Tonle Sap Lake. Rupert Bevan, renowned
designer, maker and finisher of fine bespoke furniture and luxury interiors will be
hosting a pop-up exhibition of specialist decorative finishes. Many of these will be
developed over this summer and will never have been seen before they are unveiled
at the Festival. This will be an exclusive opportunity to preview exceptional examples
of applied arts on a scale larger than Rupert Bevan has showcased them before,
providing unique insights into how they would look integrated within an interior
environment.
To celebrate the creation of Perfumer H – British perfumer Lyn Harris introduces a
new fragrance - oak - at the Retrouvius warehouse. One scent in a new range of
fragrances to cover the essential fragrance families: citrus, floral, wood, fern and
oriental. Architectural and Interior Design company Shalini Misra Ltd invite you to
celebrate traditional craft in a contemporary manner with a select exhibition of
its interior products and designs.
Fromental is hosting a special one-off sample sale of their handmade wall coverings
at its new Queens Park show flat on 24 September. At this treasure trove of
beautiful furniture, fabrics and wallpaper decorated in Fromental’s bold distinctive
style, visitors can purchase the signature hand-painted and hand-embroidered
designs at significantly discounted prices.
Celebrated by the V&A and artists such as David Bowie, Michiko Koshino
has established herself as a global icon. Continuously exploring new frontiers,
her innovative collections fuse her Japanese heritage with the finest Italian
craftsmanship, spanning across all fields, from fashion to homeware. For those
interested in technology, join the Middlesex University, Department of Design
Engineering and Mathematics, with redLoop for an immersive insight into the world

SHOREDITCH DESIGN
TRIANGLE
Now in its seventh consecutive year, the Shoreditch Design Triangle brings together
a collection of designers, stores, galleries, studios, cafés, brands and one-off events
for a week of design-led festivities.
As well as being a hub for people to meet, relax and gather information, the Ace
Hotel Shoreditch and Modern Design Review magazine will collaborate on a
series of objects for ‘Ready, Made, Go’. Working with a carefully curated team
of designers, each object will offer a solution to real challenges faced by a busy
London hotel.
In celebration of its 30th anniversary, SCP will present Sofa In Sight, six designers
who have made six sofas exploring ideas in modern upholstery making including
Matthew Hilton, Michael Anastassiades and Konstantin Grcic. Their work will be
on show next to SCP Editions, a collection of special design objects, produced in
small batches. At the Herrick Gallery, RUST will be a collection of trays, pots and
vases that slowly oxidise with time and give way to unique, unpredictable patterns
as product designer Ariane Prin takes the metal dust left from key cutting to mix
with plaster and jesmonite. The KK Outlet will host Anna Lomax’s exhibition Luxury
Goods, a project created out of a love for a genuine fake and the idea of what the
notion of luxury can mean.
The Geffrye Museum’s vibrant annual celebration of ceramics returns, bringing
together the work of 50 potters from across the UK - a mix of leading names and
rising talents - in a riot of colour, styles, textures and techniques in Ceramics in the
City.
On Hanbury Street, Anna Burns Object will present its first textile collection inspired
by the style, twists and turns of Gialli – a set of cult Italian movie thrillers made in the
60s and 70s. With a window installation playing with off-kilter tensions, the room
will be tipped on its side and fitted with an endless set of slamming doors evoking
an Escher-like purgatory. Irish Design 2015 will present The Souvenir Project, a
collection of contemporary souvenirs that explores the local context, championing
creative collaborations between Irish designers and makers, curated by Jonathan
Legge, Makers & Brothers. Returning for its second year, Designed|Crafted from
The Society of Designer Craftsman, will showcase the work of twelve contemporary
artists whose ground-breaking work explores the fine line between craft and design.
British and Slovenian talent will meet at the Tranzit Store, a pop-up shop with a
unique mix of fashion, furniture and product design, curated by London-based
designer Petra Green.
In a reunion of design, craft and industry, FACTORY will bring together Benchmark
and 1882 Ltd, with events co-hosted by The Future Laboratory. With new designs
by Lindsey Adelman, Max Lamb and Kiki van Eijk, Benchmark and 1882 Ltd will
share their love of making and their deep knowledge of process and material
through demonstrations and interactive displays, while The Future Laboratory
will curate a talks programme. Ommatidium will be a new public installation for
Hoxton and Shoreditch, the result of a collaboration between Lottolab and designer
Samuel Wilkinson in partnership with new ‘immersive messaging’ app Traces.
NikeLab Bespoke, the most customisable sneaker experience from Nike, will
launch in Shoreditch store NikeLab 1948 London, while award-winning online print
and design company MOO invites visitors to its shop in BOXPARK to see how it
celebrates design and creativity.

The London Design Festival is a key constituent of London’s Autumn creative
season, alongside London Fashion Week, Frieze Art Fair and the London Film
Festival. Established in 2003 its role is to celebrate and promote London as the
world’s design capital and gateway to the International design community.

Mayor’s Office – having transferred support from the London Development Agency.
