In my capacity as the Mayor of the city of Genoa, it gives me great pleasure to

welcome the 27 edition of the MYBA Charter Show.
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to Genoa for the 2015 MYBA Charter Show. Once again we have an outstanding collection of charter yachts available for viewing, a larger selection of exhibitors, and many charter brokers from all over the world.
We are pleased to have the support of several new sponsors making this another
innovative Show.
I would like to thank all attendees for their continued support and participation.
In order to make the most of your time at the Show, please be sure to read the Show
Programme carefully for information on seminars, the Show Opening Cocktail, the
MYBA Superyacht Chefs’ Competition as well as events on Molo Vecchio and the
Aquarium Quay.
I would also like to thank the team from Pesto Sea Group for their continued support
and excellent organisation of this unique event. I would particularly like to thank
Francesca Carbone whose efforts are invaluable as well as the members of the
MYBA Charter Boat Shows Panel (Patricia Codere, Adelheid Chirco, Sylvie Romain,

The city of Genoa is proud to host every year this important international exhibition
dedicated to Charter professionals and Superyachts.
We appreciate MYBA for its involvement in the fields of brokerage, chartering, and
management of luxury yachts, commercial vessels or luxury passenger vessels in
order to satisfy demand in this exceptional market.
I would like to thank MYBA, Pesto Sea Group, Marina Molo Vecchio and all the
organizers for choosing once again Genoa for this event.
Genoa is the capital of Liguria and thev sixth largest city in Italy. The port is its
throbbing heart. Favoured by its strategic geographic location, it is placed at the
centre of the important industrial and commercial area of northern Italy and southern
Europe. With a trade volume of 51.6 million tonnes, it is the busiest port of Italy by
cargo tonnage.
The ancient harbour is the ancient part of the port of Genoa.
In recent years, the Genoese architect Renzo Piano redeveloped the area for public
access, restoring the historical buildings and creating new landmarks like the
Aquarium, the Bigo and recently the “Bolla” (the Sphere).
Genoa is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, full of history and art. Part of the
old town was inscribed on the World Heritage List (UNESCO) in
2006 . The city’s rich art, music, gastronomy, architecture and history, allowed it to
become the 2004 European Capital of Culture.

Genoa:
City of Art, Sea and Innovation
Genoa is a city rich in art and history that must be discovered
step by step, by entering its labyrinth of narrow alleys called
‘caruggi’. The historical center is one of the biggest in Europe.
Certain views give us a glimpse on the Middle Ages. But we
also find the splendid palaces, the Palazzi dei Rolli that along
with the Strade Nuove became a part of the UNESCO World
Heritage Sites in 2006. Built between the end of the Sixteenth
and the Seventeenth Centuries by the patrician families of
Genoa as their private residences, the magnificent homes
were enrolled in a system of “public accommodations” in
order to host the visits of “cardinals, princes and kings.”
Subdivided and classified according to their opulence, the
homes also hosted visits of “governors and feudal lords,” or
“less important princes or ambassadors.”
Each year Genoa celebrates his marvelous historical palaces
with Rolli Days, a weekend of extraordinary openings of the
Palazzi dei Rolli (next date May 30 – June 2, 2015).
To enjoy the beauty of the UNESCO sites, every Saturday
afternoon there are guided visits to the Rolli Palaces. Thus the
doors are opened to sumptuous residences built by the richest
and most powerful families of Genoa. There is also a multilingual guided tour of the historical center that should not be
missed, which also runs during the weekend; the itineraries
through the Monumental Cemetery of Staglieno (on Saturday)
and the guided tours dedicated to the cruise passengers “Art
& Shopping Tour”, organized by the Municipality of Genoa,
Chamber of Commerce and Local Trade associations, that
guides the tourists along different itineraries through the
historic center and the shopping areas.
Different tourist services are also available: Audio services
in six languages allow the visitor to discover the city on his/
her own. The Card Musei or Museum Card grants discounted
access to museums and other services. The new APP Genova
Official Guide, a free APP in Italian and English dedicated to
Genoa. It contains tourist information, events, itineraries and
other useful info. The APP is a complete directory of services
offered to the visitors. Available for iPhone and Android (Info:
www.visitgenoa.it).
Genoa offers a rich and differentiated panorama of museums
in settings that are often historical: the high quality of its
artistic heritage is displayed in opulent Baroque buildings.
Archeological treasures, natural history and extraordinary
historical documents, along with artistic masterpieces
evoke the past glory of the city and its famous protagonists:
Columbus, Rubens, Van Dyck, Paganini.
From the center of Genoa, a visit to its museums leads to the
Rivieras to the East and to the West of the city where there is a
stunning landscape. Historical villas located in beautiful parks
show off the historical villas immersed in elegant gardens with
fountains and statues and botanical gardens.
The Museums of Strada Nuova in Via Garibaldi represent a
unique cultural institution for the quality and prestige of the
offering. One single museum network includes Palazzo Bianco,
Palazzo Rosso and Palazzo Tursi, masterpieces of architecture
and the residential culture of Genoa, now part of the UNESCO
heritage. Here extraordinary collections of Italian and Flemish
art may be viewed, including works by Rubens, Van Dyck,
Veronese, Caravaggio, Guido Reni and the main artists of the
Genoese school, displayed in sumptuous rooms with frescoes
and original furnishings.
The grandiose, refined qualities of the Genoese Baroque
residences is evident also in the Museum of Palazzo Reale and
the National Gallery at Palazzo Spinola di Pellicceria, where
it is possible to admire the rich collections of paintings of the
Genoese aristocracy, with works by Rubens and Van Dyck
among the furnishings, silver, tapestries and household goods.
Palazzo Ducale, which had been the residence of the Doge and
seat of the Government of the Republic of Genoa, is today an
important cultural meeting point for the city and hosts prestigious
international exhibits. On display until July 12, there will be the
exhibition The Age of the Avant-garde: the German Expressionism.
Genoa is City of the Sea: “admirablement située en
amphitheatre sur la mer”, to cite Stendhal, it is the largest port
in Italy and among the most important in the Mediterranean.
Over the last twenty years the city has been renovated.
Without a doubt, a real rebirth began when the area of the
Porto Antico was restored to public use, thanks to the work
of architect Renzo Piano who redesigned the area in 1992. At
the Porto Antico there is the Aquarium of Genoa with its new
Whale Tank, the Galata Museum of the Sea and the Nazario
Sauro submarine; the Città dei Bambini e dei Ragazzi (the City
of Children and Kids) with the De Amicis Library for children;
the Biosphere and the panoramic Bigo elevator; the National
Museum of the Antarctic; Dialogo nel Buio (Dialogue in the
Dark); and the Luzzati Museum.

Genoa is a city to live in all year long: in the summer with
music, concerts, live events in the area of the Porto Antico,
in the center of the city or in the fishing villages near the
sea still in town, visitors can swim and take advantage of
the entertainment. In the winter, there are prestigious art
exhibits, theatre seasons that take in traditional plays or opera,
Christmas traditions, historical crèche scenes. In Spring and
Fall, there are hiking trails even within city limits, boardwalks
along the sea and paths in historical parks, also on the
hills above the city, where there is an impressive system of
fortresses.
Speaking of the sea, we cannot overlook Slow Fish that will
return to Genoa from May 14- to 17, dedicated to the world
of fish and marine ecosystems (Info: www.slowfish.it) and the
International Boat Show, that every year attracts visitors from
all over the world. For the Boat Show, Genoa “wears blue” with
Genoa in Blu, a program of events that enlivens the entire city
(next date September 30 – October 5 2015)
And beyond the seasons, all year long Genoa offers tourists
an exceptional cultural heritage displayed in its museums,
historical palaces, monumental churches with multicolored
marble, gold stucco and bright frescoes, in its suburban villas
and the very famous Monumental Cemetery at Staglieno, a
veritable outdoor museum with thousands of sculptures.
A city that can still surprise and fascinate today, with its
multifaceted face between ancient and modern, as happened
to Richard Wagner in 1853 when he wrote, “ I have never seen
anything like Genoa! It is indescribably beautiful, grandiose,
characteristic. Paris and London in comparison with this divine
city disapale in comparison as simple agglomerates of houses
and streets with no shape.”
Genoa is a city of research and technological innovation. It is
the headquarters of important industries, research centers,
and is one of the leading cities in Europe in the sector of
innovation and advanced technology.
As a candidate to become European Smart City, Genoa
demonstrates special attention to the application of new
technologies and ICT for the sustainable development of the
community.
Genoa is also home to the IIT – the Italian Institute of
Technology, one of the most advanced scientific research
centers in the field of nanotechnology and robotics.
The spread of science inspires great events such as the
Festival of Science, held for the first time in 2003 and which
has become over the years an important moment for the

Members of MSC will be
able to request and share
spares amongst themselves
quickly and efficiently.
Yachts carry a treasure trove of spares, so by
linking inventories member yachts will be able to
search and discover an urgently needed spare
that could be on the yacht berthed alongside or a
nearby marina, getting it onboard within minutes
or hours, not days, keeping a cruise on track, but
more importantly, Owners and Guests happy.
MSC provides the means to securely upload
a yachts’ spares inventory, allowing members
to search MSC to find the part they require.
All members locations are tracked using a
custom GPS unit provided with membership.
If required and as a service to members,
we offer ‘Inventory Cleaning’ this is
done before uploading to MSC.
