Playing with fire
by Amelia Seymour
60´
Amelia recorded a fire on the roof in front of her apartment on Boddinplatz, in 2009. While editing it,
she became interested in the sound/image relationship with such dramatic images and wanted to
explore it further. She asked sound artists and musicians to take some or all of the 14 minute film,
with or with the original sound, and to give their own sound to it. The resulting 12 versions (1 hour
total) are wildly diverse and feel very different from each other, despite the repeated images and
sequences. The film has also been shown with live sound in the past and we may, indeed, have
some special guest appearances during the screening.
