Forward & rear facing undercover lighting systems
that are virtually undetectable when not in use.
You choose the housing to fit your vehicle
and then number and style of light modules.
Choose three, four, six, seven or eight Linear Super-LED, or,
four, five, eight, ten or twelve super bright 3-LED or TIR3™
Super-LED modules mounted in a rugged housing that fits
snugly against the upper front windshield or upper or lower
back window of late model Ford Crown Victoria,
Explorer, Expedition and F150/250/350; Chevy Impala,
Suburban, Tahoe, Silverado; Dodge Charger, Magnum,
Durango and Chrysler Aspen police vehicles.

LFL LIBERTY™ SX Series
LFL Liberty features the next generation, all Linear-LED® technology
that rivals strobe in impact. Now standard, with extended Super-LED
corner modules which expands visibility to critical 90° angles. All LFL
Liberty models provide heavy-duty, long life operation with low, low
current draw.
■ Optional five or six LED Traffic Advisor with ultra high intensity
Linear-LED modules or five or six split Traffic Advisor with
passenger side warning alternates with driver side warning.
■ Each Super-LED lighthead is driven by an all electronic module that
provides proper input power and choice of flash patterns. You are
assured of equal light intensity from each lighthead through a
voltage range of 10-16 VDC.
■ Scan-Lock™ allows you to scan through multiple flash patterns

LFL LIBERTY™ SW Series
WeCan Programmable Lightbar Series. Similar to the SX Series
but includes an external interface unit, the WeCan electronic control
module (ECM), which communicates all lightbar operating functions
via a 2 conductor, 20 gauge cable. All functions are programmed via
simple “pick & click, or drag” screens. Windows based 2000, XP or
later operating system required. USB input to the ECM from PC or
laptop makes programming easy.
■ Small cable allows for easier overall wiring and lightbar installation.
■ Up to twelve different programmed warning configurations can be
operated via customer-supplied switching to each of only twelve
input wires to the ECM (default program pre-installed). Once the
ECM is programmed, selection of these wires will allow for:
• Complete independent "On" or "Off" control of each lighthead.
• Flash pattern control of each lighthead.
• Phase control of each lighthead, with four phases that allow for
alternating, simultaneous & combo flash patterns.
• Cruise light control with unlimited adjustable intensity levels.
• Independent Hi/Low control is available to any one or more
Super-LED lightheads, excluding the four corner modules
(required for SAE certification).
• Independent sequential (single wire or 2-wire) control of the

Edge Ultra is classic Edge styling with a slightly wider
stance and modular construction. A wide selection of light
sources and configurations give you a custom lightbar with
“off-the-shelf” convenience, that is easily upgradeable later.

Edge Ultra starts with modular architecture “snap-in/lock-in” components, and an
internal wiring harness that lets you select strobe, LED and halogen warning configurations. Easily upgradeable. For example, buy a four-strobe version today; add up to
eight more strobe modules or other options at a later date. Distributors will appreciate the convenience of stocking basic assemblies with factory installed wiring harnesses. All Edge Ultra lightbars have a slightly wider footprint, which provides
greater stability and weight distribution.

Built on the classic Edge 9000 extruded aluminum
I-Beam chassis, the 9M Series is a highly effective, user
friendly and cost efficient addition to the Edge family.

■ Classic Edge proportions with straightforward, modular
construction for changes, upgrades or service.
■ Models include 4, 6, 8, 10, or 12 strobe lightheads plus up to ten
secondary warning, halogen or LED modules.
■ Modular design. Lamp modules and slide-in lenses are of equal size
and can be placed anywhere in the lightbar.
■ End caps with clear lenses and color inner filters allow individual
color selection. Color filters are also available for duplex light modules.

toggle through ten strobe and five halogen and LED flash patterns

"Hide-A-Way" Strobe Tubes and Systems
Model HA239C is the smallest combination plug-in/screw-in mounted,
remote clear strobe lamp assembly available. This soft design is easy to
install in a 1" hole inside composite style head or taillight assemblies.
Model HA238 is a flange-mounted strobe lamp assembly for the same purpose, but is available in five safety colors. Both models furnished with 15’
3-C shielded cable with AMP Mate-N-Lok® connectors. Optional waterproof

Police cycle gets
first rotating lamp
Joliet police yesterday accepted
as a gift the first rotating
emergency light ever to work
successfully on a motorcycle.
It is believed to be the only such
device in the country.
“There has long been a need for
such a warning light,” Police
Chief Joseph Trizna said in
accepting the gift. “We naturally
are quite proud that the All
American city of Joliet has been
honored with this important
first in the field safety.”
The rotating emergency light
mounted on a bracket to fit on a
motorcycle’s front fender was
presented to the police department by its inventor, George W.
Whelen of the Whelen
Engineering Company. He has
been testing the safety device
for a year.
For the past three months the
light has been mounted on the
cycle of Capt. Orville Belfield
and has received his approval as
having met every test.
The story of the rotating
safety light, similar to the ones
mounted on top of squad cars,
began in August of 1954. That
was when Officer Louis Barney
met his death on a motorcycle.
It was an overcast day when he
came upon a traffic jam. He
moved out into the left lane of
traffic to investigate. Oncoming
cars were unable to see him
until it was too late.
Shortly thereafter Whelen
and then Capt. Trizna and
Belfield discussed the need for
an emergency light for motorcycles. Trizna, who formerly
patrolled the streets on a motorcycle, was aware of the problems.
The pursuit lamps on a motorcycle throw a direct beam and give
the rider no illumination of side
areas.

A rotating reflector type light
was needed, such as in use on
squad cars. The problem was
that a motorcycle creates a
special problem for such a light.
The vibration of the cycle make it
difficult to find a lamp which
will function under those
punishing conditions.
Whelen brought to the project
experience in manufacturing
lights for aviation. After a long
period of experimentation, he
had the problems licked.
Chief Trizna said he hopes
eventually to have all ten motorcycles in the department
equipped with the rotating
lights. He added that he expected
other police departments
throughout the United States
also to equip their wheels with
the device.
