Entdecken Sie die berühmten Nationalparks des amerikanischen Westens, sowie Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San
Francisco, Highway One und Grand Canyon. Auf dieser außergewöhnlichen Reise ist genug Zeit eingeplant für die
Besichtigung vieler berühmter Sehenswürdigkeiten und Städte und für den Besuch weltbekannter Nationalparks
wie Zion, Bryce Canyon, Lake Powell, Monument Valley und Antilope Slot Canyon! Drei Tage werden wir am
Grand Canyon verbringen. Diese Kleingruppen-Reise ermöglicht Ihnen den Zugang zu vielen versteckt liegenden
Sehenswürdigkeiten, die man mit den großen Reisebussen nicht erreichen kann. So werden wir einen
abgelegenen Aussichtspunkt am Nordrand des Grand Canyon besuchen, von dem aus der Blick in den Canyon der
„Allerbeste“ ist, und auf Streckenabschnitten des „Highway One“ fahren, die nur für kleine Busse zugelassen sind.
Auf dieser Reise haben Sie genügend Zeit, um die Nationalparks zu Fuß oder zu Pferd, im Jeep oder auf RaftingTours zu erkunden. An vielen Tagen wird Ihr Begleiter geführte Wanderungen für die Gruppe anbieten. Zentral
gelegene und gut ausgestattete Unterkünfte, direkt in oder am Zugang zu den Nationalparks, erlauben Ihnen dort

1. Tag – Ankunft in Las Vegas
Eigenständiger Transfer vom Flughafen zum Hotel.
Übernachtung: La Quinta 3* (oder vgl.), 1x
2. Tag – Zion NP (F-M)
Bitte kommen Sie um 8 Uhr in die Hotellobby zum
Begrüßungstreffen mit Ihrem Reiseleiter. Dann Fahrt
zum nahen Zion NP, den wir gegen Mittag erreichen.
Unser Hotel liegt zentral im historischen Springdale,
mit guten Restaurants und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten.
Am Nachmittag besichtigen wir den Park per Tram
und fahren durch den berühmten Canyon. Kurze
Wanderungen bringen uns zu den verschiedenen
Sehenswürdigkeiten wie The Narrows und Weeping
Rock.

Fahrt: ca. 250 km – 2 ½ Stunden
Zion NP
4. Tag – Toroweap / Grand Canyon NP (F-M)
Nach 2 Stunden auf einer kaum befahrenen Staubstraße erreichen wir den Nordrand des Canyons. Vor
unseren Augen entfaltet sich das größte Panorama
der Welt: der Toroweap Aussichtspunkt über den
Grand Canyon. Von hier aus blicken wir direkt in die
Tiefe der gigantischen Schlucht hinunter. Nur wenige
Touristen erreichen diesen Platz, die berüchtigt raue
Fahrt meidend, die allein hierher führt. Wir können
am wilden Canyonrand entlang wandern. Spät am
Nachmittag kehren wir zurück nach Kanab. Dieses
„staubige Abenteuer“ wird mit einem Besuch am Pool
belohnt (nur im Sommer geöffnet).

Zion NP
3. Tag – Zion NP (F-M)
Am Vormittag haben Sie Zeit, um die kleine Stadt
Springdale zu erkunden. Bei Interesse wird der
Reiseleiter eine zwei- bis dreistündige Wanderung zu
den Emerald Pools organisieren oder sogar den
Aufstieg zu Angel’s Landing anbieten, einem
fantastischen Berggipfel, der das Tal überragt. Spät
am Nachmittag fahren wir knapp 2 Stunden ins kleine
Mormonendorf Kanab. Hier übernachten wir, wie vor
uns schon viele Filmstars, in dieser gemütlichen,
historischen Lodge.
Übernachtung: Parry Lodge 2-3* (oder vgl.), 2x
Fahrt: ca. 150 km – 1 ½ bis 2 Stunden
Toroweap Overlook im Grand Canyon NP
5. Tag – Bryce Canyon NP (F-M)
Für viele ist Bryce Canyon der schönste Nationalpark
der USA. Wanderwege winden sich durch rote und
rosa leuchtende Steintürme, die wundervoll mit dem
blauen Himmel und den grünen Pinien kontrastieren.
Nach kurzer Fahrt erreichen wir den Park. Zuerst
besuchen wir das exzellente Visitor Center. Wer will,
kann dann einen Horseback Ride durch die
Felsformationen des Bryce unternehmen (fakultativ,
ca. $40) oder Sie wandern dort mit dem Reiseleiter.
Bestaunen Sie danach den unvergesslichen Sonnenuntergang am Rand des „Amphitheaters“: Von dort
lassen sich die besten Fotos machen. Wer möchte,

kann heute Abend das örtliche Rodeo besuchen
(fakultativ, nur in den Sommermonaten).
Übernachtung: Bryce View Lodge 3* (oder vgl.), 1x
Fahrt: ca. 190 km – 2 Stunden
bringen uns zu Park Avenue, Balanced Rock und
The Windows. Wenn die Gruppe möchte, können wir
zum Delicate Arch wandern oder uns Zeit nehmen für
eine morgendliche Jeep-Tour oder für Rafting auf
dem Colorado River (beides fakultativ).
8. Tag – Monument Valley und Lake Powell (F-M)
Wir verlassen Moab in Richtung Süden und erreichen
Monument Valley nach ca. 3 Stunden. Das Tal ist für
die Kultur der amerikanischen Ureinwohner ebenso
berühmt wie für seine atemberaubende Landschaft.
Sie haben Gelegenheit zu einer Jeep-Tour, geleitet
von Navajo Indianern (fakultativ, ab ca. $45). Gegen
Abend fahren wir noch ca. 2 Stunden bis zur Stadt
Page am Lake Powell, wo wir uns in einem zentral
gelegenen Hotel einquartieren.

Fahrt: ca. 340 km – 4 bis 5 Stunden
Bryce Canyon NP
6. Tag – Auf dem Highway 12 nach Moab (F-M)
Highway 12 ist eine der schönsten Strecken in den
USA. Wir durchqueren versteinerte Sanddünen und
fahren auf schmalen Straßen durch schroffe
Schluchten, mit einer staunenswerten Aussicht über
den größten Teil des südlichen Utah. Auf unserem
Weg durch dieses trockene Wüstenland besuchen
wir Capitol Reef NP, wo wir den Felsgravuren der UrIndianer begegnen. Dann können wir die schwarzen
“Badlands” bei Hanksville fotografieren, bevor wir am
späten Nachmittag in Moab ankommen. Nach ein
paar kurzen Wanderungen zu so berühmten Plätzen
wie Mesa Arch genießen wir das Nachmittagslicht im
Canyonland NP.

Fahrt: ca. 500 km – 7 Stunden
Monument Valley
9. Tag – Antelope Canyon / Grand Canyon (F-M)
Lake Powell ist durch den Staudamm des Colorado
River entstanden. Überall spiegeln sich hier rote
Sandsteinwände in tief blauem Wasser und bieten so
unvergessliche Bilder. Vormittags empfehlen wir eine
Jeep-Tour zu den Antelope oder Corkscrew Canyons
oder dem klassischen „Slot Canyon“ (ab $30
fakulativ) oder eine Bootsfahrt zum engen Antelope
Canyon (ab $35 fakultativ). Wenn genug Zeit bleibt,
könnten wir zum Horseshoe Bend, einem
fantastischen Aussichtspunkt über dem Colorado
River, wandern. Eine 3-stündige Fahrt bringt uns zum
nächsten Highlight, dem UNESCO Weltnaturerbe
Grand Canyon. Zum Sonnenuntergang genießen wir
eine Wanderung am Rand des Canyons
(witterungsbedingt)

Fahrt: ca. 300 km – 3 Stunden
Arches NP
7. Tag – Arches NP (F-M)
Heute Morgen erkunden wir Arches NP zu Fuß, wo
sich unsere Augen am Anblick von 2000 natürlichen
Steinbögen erfreuen können. Kurze Wanderungen

10. Tag – Grand Canyon NP (F-M)
Wir verbringen den ganzen Tag am Grand Canyon.
Empfehlenswert ist eine Wanderung entlang des
abgelegenen West Rim wegen der sich immer wieder
verändernden Aussicht über den Canyon oder der
selbständige Abstieg in die Tiefe zum berühmten
Plateau Point (wegen Nationalparkregeln ist leider
keine Führung durch den Reiseleiter im NP möglich).
Auch für einen Flug mit dem Helikopter haben Sie
Zeit (fakultativ ab $180 extra).
13. Tag – Highway One (F-M)
Wir fahren Richtung Küste über Beverly Hills, wo wir
einen kurzen Halt einlegen, um die Einkaufsviertel
der Superreichen zu bewundern, bevor wir die Küste
und Highway One in Malibu erreichen. Von hier
fahren wir nordwärts und erreichen bald Santa
Barbara. Wir haben genug Zeit für einen Spaziergang
durch die Straßen im Stadtzentrum und für ein
„Picnic Lunch“ am berühmten Strand. Weiter geht es
nach Norden, vorbei an Äckern und Weingütern, zu
unserem Hotel in San Simeon, das direkt über dem
Strand, oberhalb der Klippen liegt.

Fahrt: ca. 360 km – 4 Stunden
Grand Canyon South Rim
11. Tag – Durch die Wüste nach L.A. (F-M)
Wir haben einen langen Reisetag vor uns, die ganze
Strecke bis zur Pazifikküste, nach Los Angeles. Wir
fahren auf der Route 66 und stoppen für ein paar
tolle Gelegenheiten zum Fotografieren. Am späten
Nachmittag erreichen wir unser zentral gelegenes
Hotel.
Ü.: Wilshire Plaza oder Biltmore oder Best Western
Dragon Gate Inn Chinatown 3* (oder vgl.), 2x
Fahrt: ca. 770 km – 7 bis 8 Stunden
12. Tag – Los Angeles (F-M)
Heute erkunden wir Down Town und Hollywood. Erst
gehen wir zur staunenswerten Ikone der Architektur –
Walt Disney Concert Hall. Ein Rundgang entlang der
Oberseite des Gebäudes bietet unglaubliche FotoMöglichkeiten. In Hollywood folgen wir dem Walk of
Fame, vorbei am Chinese Theatre. Wer möchte,
kann den Nachmittag in den Universal Studios
verbringen (fakultativ ca. $70 p. P.) und mit der UBahn zum Hotel zurückfahren, oder ihn nach seinem
Belieben gestalten.
14. Tag – Highway One und San Francisco (F-M)
Der aufregendste Abschnitt des Highway One liegt
vor uns – die sich in die steilen Klippen klammernde
Straße ist so schmal, dass große Reisebusse an
diesem Teil der Küste nicht zugelassen sind (in
Jahren mit Starkregen kann die Straße wegen
Schlammlawinen gesperrt sein). Wir genießen den
unglaublichen Ausblick auf die Felswände unter uns
und haben Zeit zum Anhalten und Besuchen der
kleinen Parks, die am Weg liegen. Bald erreichen wir
Monterey. Die Gruppe kann sich für eine Wanderung
zum Point Lobos State Preserve entscheiden, um
Seelöwen und einheimische Pflanzen zu sehen, oder
das weltberühmte Aquarium besuchen (fakultativ, ca.
$15). Am späten Nachmittag erreichen wir San
Francisco und unser zentral gelegenes Hotel.

Fahrt: ca. 320 km – 4 Stunden
15. Tag, Abflug (Frühstück)
Unsere Tour endet heute nach dem Frühstück hier in
San Francisco. Wir empfehlen, Ihren Aufenthalt in
dieser fantastischen Stadt noch um einige Tage zu
verlängern. Die Abreise erfolgt selbständig.

Temperature:
The weather in this region is extremely stable, particularly in spring, summer and fall. Sunshine prevails. Coupled with
very low humidity it makes this region ideal for being outdoors and hiking. In summer (June to mid-September)
temperatures during daytime are very pleasant in Yosemite, Bryce and Grand Canyon (75° - 80°F) due to the altitude of
their mountain locales (3000 - 7500 ft) as well as along the coast of California. In summer, in Utah’s parks, the daytime
temperatures of 75° - 95°F are typical. In August there is often a daily short, heavy rainstorm, which can cool the air quite
nicely. In spring and fall (April to mid-June, mid-September through October) average temperatures drop about 20°.

These are the best seasons for hiking in the deserts of Utah, while in the mountain regions of Yosemite and even in
Grand Canyon or Bryce Canyon chillier days are encountered, particularly when the occasional storm passes through.
The month of May offers outstanding wildflowers, while the soft light of early Fall (mid- to end-September) is favored by
many photography enthusiasts.
Meeting Place:
Please be at the appointed hotel no later than 8 A.M. for the orientation meeting on the first day of the tour.
Please bring a copy of your travel insurance to this meeting. Be aware that all participants must sign a Liability
Waiver. In case your flight has been delayed and you are unable to make it to the Orientation Meeting, it is
essential that you contact us immediately at our toll-free number: 1-888-233-1297. Our office is not staffed on the
weekends, but the toll-free number will get you our current weekend emergency number. At the emergency
number please leave details of your revised travel plans and the telephone number, at which we can reach you to
coordinate an alternative meeting with the tour. In the event that you are delayed more than a few hours the
group can unfortunately not wait. If you neither appear at the orientation meeting nor contact us, we will be
forced to conclude that you have canceled your plan to be with the tour.

You should dress in layers, so that it is easy to add and remove clothing when temperature changes. It can be very chilly
in the morning, but the warm-up is rapid.
If you are doing slide photography, bring all your film supplies with you. It is namely almost impossible in the U.S. to find
slide film outside of big cities. There will also be little or no access to currency exchange, so convert all the cash you need
for the tour to US $ before you join us. We recommend a combination of cash, travelers checks (American Express or
Thomas Cook) and, most preferably, VISA or Mastercard. You will have access to ATM cash machines, so bring your
credit card(s) along together with your PIN Nummer, but note that American cash machines usually will not accept
Eurocard. Otherwise, credit cards are accepted everywhere in the U.S. Small fees are sometimes charged for using them.
Diners Club and American Express are not accepted as universally as Visa or Mastercard.
Baggage Limit: Due to limited space on the tour vans each traveler can bring only two items of luggage on the tour.
During the tour there are washing machines and dryers, where you can do your laundry for a small charge.
Additional Expenses: Each traveler will need app. $5-10/day for postcards, beverages, tips, etc. Be prepared to tip the
tour leader between $42 and $70 per participant, depending on his/her performance. In the U.S. it is the norm to tip for
most every kind of service.
Food: The U.S. generally has a large selection of freshly prepared foods and fresh vegetables. In the country, however,
the variety is more limited. Breakfast is sometimes included with the hotel lodging, other times it must be acquired in a
restaurant. In either case breakfast is included in our tour price. Hotel "continental breakfasts" are usually very basic:
coffee, tea, toast, jam, cereal, though they sometimes include waffles, fruit, muesli and yogurt. Lunch provisions are
provided by your tour leader. You fix your own lunch in advance, so that it can be eaten on the day's outing. Bread,
sausage, cheese, fruit and snacks are provided for this purpose. Beverages are not included. Dinner is taken in the hotel
or in nearby restaurants. Your tour leader will make restaurant recommendations. Dinners typically cost $20-35 per
person, sometimes less, excluding the cost of beverages. A glass of wine costs $5-15 depending on the quality, and beer
runs $3-5/glass.

Booking/ Cancellations
BOOKING
Please use our booking form found on our web site to book your passengers. Indicate if your passenger wants a single
room, a double, or is a single wanting to share. We may or may not have singles sharing. In the case of a single wanting
to share being in a single room, some tours offer a reduced single supplement. We will confirm the booking within 1 day
(longer over the weekend), issuing a booking number. Current booking conditions can be found on our extra net at
www.atwtourinfo.com. Wholesalers can request log in and password information for our extranet site. Bookings are
updated daily at noon.
Tours are either “open” - we accept bookings, “guaranteed” - we have enough bookings to operate the tours, “on request”
- a tour is almost full, “full” - a tour is sold out, or “cancelled”. However what you find on our web site may be outdated if
we receive a lot of requests. Bookings are accepted as received and confirmations must be sent by our office before you
can confirm the booking with your client.
LANGUAGES
Certain tours have language selections pre-set. For other tours the language is determined 2-4 months out depending on
which languages have booked. Once ATW assigns a guide, it is difficult to change the language selection, even if more
people of a certain language book. Short term language changes are very difficult for us to accommodate. Before
promising a certain language to one of your clients we recommend you ask us which tour your client is booked on and
which languages will be offered.
FIT EXTENSION RATES
FIT extension rates are pre-negotiated but if a client reserves their extension with less than 90 day notice we may not be
able to guarantee the rates due to the heavy convention schedule in Las Vegas and San Francisco. In either case
extension rates are not guaranteed until confirmed and accepted by the hotel.
CONFIRMATION OF TOURS
We will confirm the departure of a tour no later than 45 days prior to departure. At that point we will require a nonrefundable deposit of $400 per passenger.
Full payment is due 30 days prior to departure. Once payment is received we will issue a voucher that has to be
presented to our tour director at the start of the tour.
CANCELLATIONS
There will be no refunds for cancellations under 30 days, there will be no refunds for “no shows” or interrupted travel. We
accept name substitution up to 15 days prior to arrival without a fee. Starting 15 days before arrival name changes are
considered cancellations. If you pay with credit card you should add 3% to the above prices to cover any extra costs.
Once full payment is received a voucher will be issued by our office.
DISRUPTIVE PASSENGERS
We reserve the right to remove a passenger from tour if he/she is not fit enough to keep up, a disturbance to the group,
disruptive or sick. We will try to make any possible arrangement to keep passengers from having to leave the group but if
a group member cannot keep up with the schedule they may be asked to stay behind in the hotel.

LATE BOOKINGS
We can accept late bookings up to 1 week prior to arrival. However with late bookings we do require that we receive full
payment before arrival of the client.
HOTEL SUBSTITUTIONS
ATW reserves the right to change hotels when needed. Hotel substitutions are generally of equal or higher value,
however in some instances a lower class hotel is selected if no better alternative is available.
COMPLAINTS
All complaints must be brought to the guide’s attention during the tour. ATW must be given the opportunity to remedy the
situation before any recourse is possible. The complaint therefore should be made in writing to the guide.
