title. After months of rumours, the switch then comes in 2013 - Hamilton leaves McLaren,

“At least 90 % of the people said it was the wrong move. Particularly the media all talked
trash about it. I’ve been with McLaren a long, long time, since I was thirteen, had a long,
long run with them, and I kind of looked at a point where I just didn’t feel there was any
further for me to go in that space. In terms of, how did I know the team was going to be a
successful one I think it was when I sat down with Ross Brawn – he showed me where the
team’s been, and where the team is planning to go. The real selling point was really
understanding why they’re not doing so well at the moment and what they’re going to do to
make that change. I knew that they don’t know how to lose. They only know how to win and

His instinct proves right: following the change to the hybrid system, Mercedes leads the field
- with Hamilton in front.

car that took us to the Championship in 2014; it was an amazing year. Far ahead of
everyone else. We did a better job with the engine, with the whole car as a package. It took

heading over to the W06 which we won the Championship with last year in 2015. A real
beauty. Basically she is an evolution of the W05. With this car, we broke all the records that

the courage and confidence of a multiple world champion. All that counts for him is victory.

But wanting to achieve a lot even without great financial resources is almost part of the
tradition for the team. 

Founder Frank Williams first tries in 1969 to establish himself with his own team - but the
plan fails, as the team lacks both money and stability. However, the Formula 1 veteran
doesn't let up – sells his first team in '76 and again goes for broke: together with the then
still unknown designer Patrick Head, he sets up Williams F1 in 1977!

different culture with very different people it's always interesting and exciting to learn more

important to try and you have your diff[erential] settings completely open and you have to

hair pin corner but a good event for overtaking here in the race if you have someone

it's a lot of fun. That brings you onto a double left-hander. This one here is a bit off camber,

“It’s one of the circuits that you have to put the balance to a point where you have lots of
front which suits my driving style because I like a car that’s over-steering. A lot of righthanders, very, very tough on the front tyres, so front graining is the biggest issue.”

“And now we're coming already to the end of the lap, left, right-hander, really slow and very
technical here. And this famous corner which again a long right-hander with a lot of camber,
and spits you out onto the really long back-straight. Not sure how long it is, but quite long,
it's time to have an espresso here. So you wait till you get to the braking point I think the top
speed is 350, 340 KPH. We've seen a big braking event, obviously the biggest braking event
of the track here in Shanghai, into that hairpin corner really important to get the braking
right, to clip the apex. On the throttle early again nice and well. Final corner, very flowing

Now to the latest standings:

In the drivers' table supreme front-runner after consecutive wins is Nico Rosberg. Vettel
drops out of the top five after engine problems, while Kimi is in it for the first time.

In the constructors' table, it's as it was at the top. Silver ahead of red. The only change, Red
Bull and Williams swapping places.

The winner takes it all. Nico Rosberg also did the fastest lap in Bahrain and thus draws level
with Ricciardo.

The fastest pitstop delivers Williams again. Felipe Massa needs 2,27 seconds.

The hardest braking point on the Shanghai International Circuit is at the end of the longest
straight, ahead of turn 14. The driver has to decelerate here by 272 km/h in only 1.74
seconds over just 159 metres. The calculated brake energy involved is 2,120 kW. In addition,
the driver is subjected to an extreme 4.9 G, while he pushes with 183 kg onto the brake.

founded in 1976. Born in Indonesia, a successful businessman in Macau.

Initially a sponsor of young drivers, Teddy Yip entered Formula 1 in 1977. As sponsor he
imposed his name on the Ensign team.
In his first Formula 1 season, Frenchman Patrick Tambay won five points for Theodore
Racing Hong Kong. It remained their best season. As much as being a petrol-head Teddy
loved booze.

The FIA test specifications are high. Helmets are randomly taken from the production
process and crash-tested. Safety takes priority!

„This helmet is the best you could possibly get. It's a carbon fibre shell weighing just 1.2 kg,
but can withstand huge crashing forces without dedforming. It can also cope with an 800 °C

Since 2015, no changes to the helmet's design have been allowed during the season. Each
helmet has its own identity and has to be comfortable. Inner padding in, visor on,
transparent spoiler added. All done! Cost: 25,000 dollars. Each driver needs 8-10 helmets per
season, with around three on hand at every grand prix. Better, after all, to be safe than
sorry!

Der Haken: Sein Erfolg in Brands Hatch 1978 zählt nicht, es ist kein WM-Lauf.
