Falsterbonäset’s Open Air Museum
consists of five large bronze sculptures
on pedestals of granite from Skåne?
The artist is the world-famous
Swedish sculptor, Gudmar Olovson.
The selection of art and culture is both large and varied. Oil painting or watercolours? Lithographs or photography? Perhaps sculpture, ceramics or something else? For people interested in art there
is a lot here to choose from among the many art galleries – both at
Falsterbonäset and in the small villages with churches on the plain.
The sculpture park, Falsterbonäsets Open Air Museum, along the
beach path in Höllviken is the largest installation of classical sculpture in Sweden since the days of Carl Milles. An experience in the
open air with the sea and sky as a backdrop!
During Easter, the large art tour is arranged in southwestern
Skåne. That is when art clubs and associations show their members’
works. Take advantage of the possibility to visit some of the studios.
The plain’s bronze and stone-age landscape, with its burialmounds and dolmens are symbols of the area’s rich cultural history.
At Foteviken you can take an in-depth look into our forefathers’
– the Vikings’ – lives and way of living. There is an authentic
Viking town here that you can visit or live in to learn how it was
to live like a Viking. The oldest stone churches were built here in
a Romanesque style around the year 1000, when the Viking era
transitioned into the Middle Ages. The area has the most churches
in the Nordic region – many of the churches are open for visitation and guided tours during the summer months.
You can also discover cultural history at the Swedish Amber
Museum. Take a journey of discovery and see ”Frozen stories” –
about insects in amber that have been preserved for millions of
years, as they were once captured in life a very long time ago. See
dead animals, wreckage and stone-age treasures that have been
found around Falsterbonäset peninsula.
There is more exciting history to see at Falsterbo Museum –
from the medieval Hanseatic League and the herring market up to
the present day.

Zu Ostern findet im Südwesten Skånes die alljährliche Kunstrunde statt. Dann stellen die hiesigen Künstlervereinigungen Werke
ihrer Mitglieder aus. Statten Sie den Ateliers doch einen Besuch ab.
Zahlreiche Grabhügel und Hünengräber zeugen von der langen
Geschichte dieser Gegend, die bis in die Bronze- und Steinzeit
zurückreicht. Wenn Sie sich ins Leben unserer Vorfahren vertiefen
möchten, empfehlen wir einen Besuch in der Wikingerstadt bei
Foteviken. Hier können Sie sogar übernachten und lernen, wie
ein echter Wikinger zu leben. Im 11. Jahrhundert, beim Übergang
von der Wikingerzeit zum Mittelalter, wurden die ältesten Steinkirchen im romanischen Stil errichtet. Unsere Gegend ist für die
höchste Kirchendichte Skandinaviens bekannt, und viele Kirchen
sind im Sommer für Besucher geöffnet.
Kulturgeschichte finden Sie auch im Bernsteinmuseum.
Machen Sie eine Entdeckungsreise und erleben Sie „erstarrte
Geschichte“ – Insekten in Bernstein, die über Jahrmillionen
unverändert im Moment ihres Einschließens erhalten geblieben
sind. Bestaunen Sie Tiere, Wracks und Steinzeitschätze, die um die
Halbinsel Falsterbonäset gefunden wurden.

geese herding was started in Skanör? To be exact,
on Midsummer’s Eve 1960. The walk starts at
Skanör’s Gästis, where a young lad and maiden
follow the geese through the streets and alleys,
and then back home to Gästis.

Hätten Sie’s gewusst?
Seit über 50 Jahren gibt es in Skanör den traditionellen Gänsetrieb. Genauer gesagt seit dem
Mittsommerabend des Jahres 1960. Seitdem
werden Gänse von einem Gänseburschen und
einer Gänsemagd in Tracht durch Gassen und
Straßen getrieben. Ausgangs- und Endpunkt der
kleinen Gänseparade ist Skanörs Gasthof.

it is when you’re out travelling. But if you have decided to be away for a while, it is a good idea to
be able to choose what you want. A little of what you are in the mood for at the moment.

Seeing the geese at Skanör is a ”must” you just can’t miss. Every
day at 4:00 pm, (24 June–18 August) the geese are herded by
Skanör’s Gästis and the Town Hall, just like in the old days. Here,
you can see the country’s only crosswalk for geese.
Hop on the ”Gåsatåget” (goose train) for a pleasant and
environmentally-friendly excursion during the entire summer (24
June–25 August). The route runs from Höllviken-Skanör-
FalsterboHöllviken. The train is electrically powered and chugs along on an
old railway embankment. Tickets are free – an enjoyable trip for
the entire family in a beautiful landscape.
A guided safari among young lambs, calves and piglets –
maybe that’s a good idea? A Sunday brunch at Ängavallen can be a
good idea. Younger familymembers with a lot of energy can go on
a safari while other older and larger family members can continue
sitting at the table and enjoy a peaceful Sunday.
Another tip, somewhat along the same theme, and that our
children will most certainly say yes to, can be a visit to the candy
factory in Hököpinge.
At the end of July you can try your luck as a sculptor in the
very popular sand castle competition on the beach in Falsterbo
below the church. The whole family can join! Looking for amber
is another exciting beach activity that gives the best results in connection with the high tides and storms in the winter season when
amber is washed in with the waves.
A visit in the Viking town is an exciting journey back in time
– an adventure for both young and old. Every year in the last week
of June there is a Viking week, which is one of the Nordic region’s
largest Viking events, and includes a Viking market and ”Slaget
vid Foteviken” (the battle at Foteviken).
Ein Spektakel der besonderen Art sollten Sie sich nicht entgehen
lassen: Jeden Tag um 16 Uhr werden vorm Gasthof und Rathaus
von Skanör die Gänse vorbeigetrieben – ganz wie in alten Zeiten
(24.6.–18.8.). Hier liegt Schwedens einziger „Gänseüberweg“!
Ein geruhsames und umweltfreundliches Erlebnis für die ganze
Familie ist die Fahrt mit dem „Gåsatåget“. Während der Sommersaison (24.6.–25.8.) verkehrt der elektrische „Gänsezug“ auf
der Strecke Höllviken-Skanör-
Falsterbo-Höllviken. Die kostenlose
Fahrt auf dem alten Bahnwall führt durch wunderschöne Landschaften.
Eine Safari mit Lämmchen, Kälbern und jungen Ferkelchen
– wäre das nicht süß? Ein Sonntagsbrunch bei Ängavallen kann
genau so aussehen. Und den Guide bekommen Sie gleich mit
dazu. Die liebenKleinen können sich dann auf Safari begeben,
während es sich die älteren Familienmitglieder am Essenstisch
gemütlich machen.

Kalops – auf skånische Art (4-6 Portionen)
Peel and slice the onions in wedges and grate the carrots. Pepper & salt the
meat and brown it
well in butter. Place it in the frying pan with the onions
and carrots. Add the broth, bring to a boil
and skim off. Add the allspice and
bay leaves. Let it simmer for 1½ hours. Whisk in a little thickening flour and
simmer for 2 – 3 more minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste. Serve the delicious Swedish beef stew with boiled potatoes and pickled red beets. Enjoy
your meal!
Die Zwiebel schälen und zerteilen, die Mohrrüben in Scheiben schneiden.
Das Fleisch mit Pfeffer und Salz würzen und in der Butter
gut anbraten.
Zwiebeln und Mohrrüben in den Schmortopf geben. Die Bouillon dazugeben, alles aufkochen lassen und danach
abschöpfen. Piment und Lorbeer
dazugeben. Anschließend 1½ Stunden auf kleiner Flamme köcheln lassen.
Das Stärkemehl unterrühren und weitere 2–3 Minuten köcheln lassen. Mit
Salz und Pfeffer abschmecken. Serviert wird diese leckere Spezialität mit
gekochten Kartoffeln und eingelegten roten Beeten. Guten Appetit!

in large numbers, especially birds of
prey. There are fantastic opportunities
for exclusive nature experiences, so

You can always experience bird banding – a very popular feature.

show all at the same time! For anyone who wants to get
in the saddle themselves, there is a possibility for shorter
one-day riding camps and rides on Icelandic ponies.
The beaches are long and of a high quality. Chalkwhite sand and pure, refreshing water. You are not only

There are very good opportunities for windsurfing
and kite-surfing and both are allowed along certain

For people who love shopping, or if you just want to stroll around, there
are many small shops where you can find anything and everything. Many
of the shops have their own designs and production, or locally manufactured art, handicrafts, confections, designs and more.
If you want to shop in the modern way, under one roof, visit the Toppengallerian in Höllviken with a broad and varied selection for different tastes.
If you look, you can find cosy, small second-hand markets. And that is
what is most exciting; to search, find, and find a bargain! In Ljunghusen
you will find Lilla Station, and in both Höllviken and Vellinge you will
find Lion’s second-hand markets. Out in the country you can find summer second-hand markets. Keep an eye out for signs along the road or
inquire at the Tourist Office.

Wer auf ein modernes Einkaufserlebnis mit vielen Geschäften unter
einem Dach aus ist, der wird sich in der Toppengallerian in Höllviken
wohl fühlen.
Aber auch niedliche kleine Flohmärkte locken mit ihrem Angebot.
Viel Spaß beim Stöbern, Suchen und Schnäppchenmachen! Zum Beispiel
in Ljunghusen bei Lilla Station sowie in Höllviken und Vellinge bei den
Lions-Flohmärkten. Im Sommer gibt es auch auf dem Land kleinere
