Company Profile
Der Name TAOASIS ist eine Synthese aus dem chinesischen TAO und dem arabischen OASIS und bedeutet
frei übersetzt „Leben im Einklang mit der Natur“.
Als Firmengründer und Sachbuchautor Axel Meyer
1981 sein erstes Buch veröffentlichte, war TAOASIS
nicht mehr als eine Vision. Im kleinen Verlag mit
Schwerpunkt Körperbewußtsein und ganzheitliche
Ernährung entstand aus der persönlichen Liebhaberei
zu den duftenden Essenzen 1991 „Das kleine Lexikon
der Düfte“, eines der ersten Sachbücher zur Aromatherapie. Das „neue“ Lexikon der Düfte, das 2009
in der aktualisierten 11. Auflage im Großformat mit
zahlreichen Farbfotos erschien, zählt längst zu den
Standardwerken der Aromatherapie.
The name TAOASIS is a synthesis of the Chinese word
TAO and the Arabian word OASIS. It literally means
“to live in harmony with nature”. When TAOASIS
Publishing published the first book by founder and
non-fiction writer Axel Meyer in 1981, TAOASIS was
nothing more than a vision. In the small publishing
house that focussed on holistic nutrition books, a
personal love for fragrant essences led to the publication of “Das kleine Lexikon der Düfte” (“The
Little Encyclopaedia of Fragrance”) in 1991, one of
the first German non-fiction books on aromatherapy
and today a standard reference book on the subject.
Die Nachfrage nach den im Lexikon beschriebenen
Düften, drängte förmlich danach, diese Düfte auch
selbst anzubieten. Dies geschah auch schon damals
ausschließlich an Apotheken! Der Verlag hat sich zu
einem erfolgreichen und innovativen Familienunternehmen mit kleiner Arzneimittelherstellung entwickelt, das mit über 12.000 Kunden in Deutschland,
der Schweiz und in Österreich der führende Hersteller
für Aromatherapie in der Apotheke ist. TAOASIS
produziert heute auch für renommierte Unternehmen
und liefert die kostbaren Düfte in über 20 Länder
der Welt. Seit zwei Jahren baut TAOASIS die Marke
BALDINI natürliche Raumdüfte im Biofachhandel
aus. Die Marken TAOASIS und TAOMED bleiben
apothekenexklusiv.

The growing demand for the fragrances described
in the encyclopaedia encouraged the company to
offer those fragrances itself. So that’s exactly what it
did – and right from the very beginning, they were
only available in pharmacies! In 2009 the 11th edition came out as a large format book with a great
many photos. The publishing house developed into a
successful and innovative family company with a little
pharmaceutical production and now is the leading
manufacturer for aromatherapy in pharmacies with
over 12,000 customers in Germany, Switzerland and
Austria. TAOASIS produces for well-known companies
and distributes the precious fragrances in more than
20 countries in the world. For two years, TAOASIS has
been expanding their natural room fragrance product
line under the brand BALDINI in organic specialised
trade shops. The brands TAOASIS and TAOMED remain exclusively in pharmacies.

Getestete TAOASIS Produkte erhielten sowohl von
Stiftung Warentest wie auch von Ökotest die Bestnote! Die aromakosmetischen Produkte werden nach
strengen Richtlinien der kontrollierten Naturkosmetik
produziert. Wir arbeiten nach GMP Arznei-Standard
und sind ISO 9001:2000 zertifiziert.
We set ourselves the highest quality standards for all
our products. This is why we have our products tested
by independent institutions. TAOASIS products that
have been tested received the highest ratings from
both the testing organisation Stiftung Warentest as
well as Ökotest (Eco-test)! We produce the aromacosmetic products in accordance with controlled
natural cosmetic requirements. We work according
to the GMP pharmaceutical standards and have ISO
9001:2000 certification.
Ökologische Verantwortung
Vom Anbau der aromatischen Pflanzen bis hin zum
Versand achten wir gewissenhaft auf Umweltverträglichkeit, Schonung natürlicher Ressourcen und
Recyclingmöglichkeiten. Wir fördern den biologischen
Landbau als Investition in die Zukunft unserer Kinder
und arbeiten mit regenerativer Energie von Green
Peace Energy. Der Versand erfolgt klimaneutral. Für
die Verpackung, Prospekte und unseren Jahreskatalog
bevorzugen wir FSC oder PEFC zertifizierte Rohstoffe
aus nachhaltiger Bewirtschaftung. Als firmeninternes
Ziel wird angestrebt bis Ende 2012 mit dem gesamten
Unternehmen klimaneutral zu arbeiten. Hierfür wird
gerade eine 100KW Solaranlage auf dem neuen
Firmengebäude geplant.

Nach diesem Motto baut TAOASIS ein globales Netzwerk auf welches einerseits die Plattform für neue
Kooperationen in benachteiligten Ländern bildet und
gleichzeitig die heimische Wirtschaft insbesondere
kleine Handwerksbetriebe fördert.
Ecological Responsibility
We pay special attention to our impact on the environment, conserving natural resources and recycling
possibilities throughout the process chain, from plant
cultivation to transportation. We support organic
farming as an investment in the future of our children
and work with renewable energy from Green Peace
Energy. We transport our products climate neutrally.
We create our packaging, information materials and
yearly catalogue using FSC or PEFC certified raw
materials from sustainable cultivation.
Expertise in Aromatherapy
We provide training programmes, specialised literature and practical customer information exclusive for
the active pharmacies. We successfully enliven our
image for pharmacies and ensure long-term customer
loyalty with innovative sales concepts and unusual
events such as TaoMobil.
