Finsterwalde site
Our headquarters is located in Finsterwalde (Germany) between Dresden
and Berlin. We operate ten lines in total here, coating over 35,000 tonnes
of parts annually for our customers with a wide variety of chemical, electroplating, zinc flake and other special processes. If required, we also
provide packaging services for our customers here, as well as pre-applied
thread coatings for the locking, sealing and lubrication of fasteners.
The administrative functions, the laboratory, quality and environmental
management and central logistics planning are also based in Finsterwalde.
Altogether, around 100 employees work at the site.

Due to a lack of space for further expansions at our main site, in May
2008 GALFA started to invest in new business premises in the neighbouring industrial area of Massen (Germany).
Series production has been underway here since March 2009, with stateof-the-art equipment, the latest technical production lines and annual
capacity in excess of 20,000 tonnes for phosphate, zinc and zinc flake
coatings. The workforce currently numbers about 20 here. There will be
no difficulty in investing in further expansion at this site in the future.

Czechowice/Sosnowiec sites
The acquisition of the companies EPC Polska in Czechowice-Dziedzice
south of Katowice in May 2009 and KONWERT in Sosnowiec north of
Katowice in July 2009 was an important step into Poland and Eastern
Europe for GALFA.
We now offer a multitude of customers in Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia from a single source a wide range of zinc flake coatings, with
an annual capacity of up to 8,000 tonnes (Czechowice-Dziedzice site) and
pre-applied thread coatings for the locking, sealing and lubrication of
fasteners (Sosnowiec site).

Phosphate coating
Phosphate layers are generally used to promote the adhesion of subsequent coatings, to minimise surface friction and abrasion, and to provide
temporary corrosion protection. Three rack and drum coating lines at the
Finsterwalde and Massen sites generate a total annual capacity in excess
of 12,000 tonnes. The range of parts comprises M4 to M24 fasteners,
stampings, bent components, springs and special parts.
The production programme includes zinc and manganese phosphate,
thick and thin films, the lubrication of phosphate layers and the degreasing, cleaning, bating and preservation of metallic surfaces.

Zinc plating with subsequent passivation is a proven and relatively lowcost method of applying reliable corrosion protection in a wide variety
of applications. Three rack and drum coating lines in Finsterwalde and
Massen generate a total annual capacity in excess of 15,000 tonnes.
The range of parts comprises M4 to M24 fasteners, stampings, bent
components, springs and special parts.
The production programme includes acid and alkaline processes, chromate
coatings, thick and thin film passivations, ZINKLAD licensed coatings, zinc
micro-coatings with high corrosion resistance, sealings (top coats) and a
multitude of anti-friction coatings.

Zinc-iron coating
Zinc-iron surface coatings combine functional corrosion resistance with
attractive design and are used primarily in the automotive and building
fitting sectors, as well as in sheet metal working. Drum capacity of over
3,000 tonnes annually is available at the Finsterwalde site. The range
of parts comprises M4 to M24 fasteners, stampings, bent components,
springs and special parts.
The production programme includes a variety of chromate coatings,
passivations, sealings and several anti-friction coatings.

Zinc-nickel alloy layers offer excellent corrosion resistance even when
exposed to extreme conditions and high temperatures, and they are therefore used primarily in the automotive and offshore sectors. In Finsterwalde
two drum lines with a total annual capacity of over 5,000 tonnes are used
to coat M4 to M24 fasteners, stampings, bent components, springs and
special parts.
The production programme includes Cr-VI chromate coatings (yellow,
black), Cr-III passivations (transparent, black), sealings with and without
integrated lubricant, and anti-friction coatings to reduce coefficients of
friction/torque.

Zinc flake coating
Zinc flake coatings are preferred for use in automotive and plant engineering, as surfaces in these industries are exposed to very high demands in
terms of temperature extremes, atmospheric conditions and resistance to
aggressive media. Four fully automated coating lines with dip-spin systems
in Finsterwalde, Massen and Czechowice-Dziedzice generate a total capacity in excess of 30,000 tonnes annually. The range of parts comprises M4
to M24 fasteners, stampings, bent components, springs and special parts.
We offer a wide variety of combinations in zinc-aluminium primary layers
(base coats) and coloured organic overlays (top coats). Our production
programme focuses on licensed coatings from DOERKEN (Delta Tone,
Delta Protekt KL/VH, Delta Seal, Delta Coll, etc.). However, we also apply
zinc flake products from MAGNI and ATOTECH.

Pre-applied thread coatings
Together with our partner in Finsterwalde and our subsidiary KONWERT
in Sosnowiec (Poland) we provide pre-applied gripping and adhesive
spot and overall thread coatings for M4 to M24 screws and fasteners for
thread locking, sealing and lubrication.

In our laboratory in Finsterwalde we are continuously working on new
and innovative developments and enhancements, including for example
optimised process technologies, improved screw thread and friction
coefficients and new testing systems, such as quick corrosion tests.
Our employees have access to all the essential checking and testing
methods, which are required in line with the latest industrial standards for
the optimisation of new surfaces and a superior quality control in ongoing
production processes: coating thickness measurements (Fischerscope,
X-ray), salt spray fog tests, climate change tests, Kesternich tests, abrasion tests, friction coefficient tests (Schatz), screw thread and tension
tests on fasteners and much more.
This ensures that we will also be able to deliver the best possible product
and manufacturing quality for our customers in the future.
