KENRICK-GLENNON SEMINARY CONVIVIUM DINNER AUCTION
KENRICK-GLENNON SEMINARY PROUDLY PRESENTS THE 23rd ANNUAL CONVIVIUM DINNER AUCTION WELCOME Dear Friends, Welcome to Convivium 2015! It is a joy to be with you as we celebrate our seminarians and the priesthood this evening. Thank you for your presence. At Kenrick-Glennon Seminary, we realize that our primary purpose is not only to be a graduate school of theology. We are a seminary. That means forming a man humanly, spiritually, intellectually’ and pastorally for life and ministry in the parish. The end goal is the parish because that’s where the people are, the point of encounter for the priest with his people. Tonight you will have the opportunity to help fund a special need: the Holy Land Retreat and Pilgrimage. Each January, our deacons have the opportunity to walk in the footsteps of Christ. Your financial and prayerful support will help make this experience possible. On behalf of the seminary community, I thank you for your support of Convivium. I also ask for your prayers for our seminarians and all who serve in the important mission of priestly formation. Please be assured of my prayers and the prayers of our seminary community. Successful bidders will receive pink bid slips delivered to their table by a seminarian. The pink sheet is to notify you that you do have an item which must be paid for at the bank (except for “Express Pay”) BEFORE you pick up your item. The bank will pull all bid sheets from your bid number file and tally your bid sheets for payment. Cash, check, or credit card (MasterCard, Visa and Discover) will be accepted for payment. After payment has been received by the bank, the bank will mark your bid sheets “Paid.” You will need to present your “Paid” bid sheets to the seminarians who will then assist you in getting your item to your car. All sales are final. There will be no exchanges or refunds by Kenrick-Glennon Seminary or its donors unless specifically stated. All goods and services purchased at this Convivium Dinner Auction shall be used at the sole risk of the purchaser. Kenrick-Glennon Seminary shall not be responsible or liable for any damage or injury occurring to any user of auction-purchased goods and/or services. All items are sold “as is” and Kenrick-Glennon Seminary makes no warranty or guarantee as to the merchantability or suitability of any such item. Merchandise and certificates may not be returned to the donor for exchange or refund unless noted in the program description. Donors of Silent Auction items are listed together in this catalog as donated items may be combined. Other donors are listed under the specific item donated. The Convivium Committee has been diligent in striving for accuracy in the program. Please forgive any mistakes or omissions. EXPRESS PAY Avoid Long Lines at the Bank! Express Pay allows you to prepay for the items you will purchase and avoid the long line at the bank at the end of the evening. You may register for Express Pay in the lobby at the beginning of the evening. Register your credit card for the evening. MasterCard, Visa, or Discover will be accepted. Your credit card will be imprinted and you will sign the charge slip. You will be given a “P” label to be affixed in front of your bid number on your auction book. Please note: Your credit card statement will show “Archdiocese of St. Louis,” not Kenrick-Glennon Seminary. Bid like crazy! For ease in identifying “Express Pay” guests, please use a “P” in front of your bid number when bidding. Example: write P147. Seminarians will deliver to your table a pink copy of the bid sheet for each item you have won. The pink bid sheet will be marked “Express Pay.” Take your pink copy of the bid sheet marked “Express Pay” to the auction tables to collect your items from our seminarians. Following the auction, you will be notified by mail of the total amount charged to your credit card or the total amount of your check. TAX INFORMATION Kenrick-Glennon Seminary is a tax-exempt charitable organization described in Internal Revenue Code 501(c)(3). Guests are encouraged to seek the advice of their tax advisors as to the accuracy of the information which is being provided and the tax consequences of their financial participation in the Convivium Dinner Auction. The Auction Committee believes that $90 per ticket is a reasonable estimate of the fair market value of the dinner, drinks and services provided. When a guest purchases an auction item for a price greater than the amount reflected as the fair market value listed on the paid receipt, they may claim the difference between the purchase price and the fair market value as a charitable contribution. When a guest purchases an item for a price that is less than or equal to a value listed on their paid receipt, the transaction is regarded as simply a purchase - not a charitable contribution - and no portion of the purchase price qualifies as a charitable contribution. All cash gifts to Kenrick-Glennon Seminary qualify as charitable contributions as long as the donor receives no direct benefit in return. The Seminary will make every effort to provide an acknowledgement for cash and noncash gifts. AUCTION ITEM PICK UP ORAL- All Oral Auction items may be picked up from the oral auction display tables. Thank you very much for your consideration of this important endeavor! 2015 FUND-A-NEED Holy Land Retreat and Pilgrimage “This trip is going to change the entire way I deliver homilies. I have gone through homiletics class, years of scripture study, and theology. Now when I open Scripture, I immediately place myself into those places and it comes alive. My whole outlook on scripture and on preaching has changed. I am no longer talking about what I believe to be true in faith, but that’s what is remarkable about it: This is a human faith where God became Man and walked on this Earth.” Fr. Peter Fonseca, Class of 2015 – St. Louis “This trip was a collection of powerful experiences that helped draw me closer to God and to see more clearly His Will in my life. What became so evident was not only just how the locations made the Gospel come to life; it made me realize just how close God is to me, to each of us. His relationship with every person is so intimate and unique, and this is what I want to help people to realize. I want people to know the good things God has done for them through Jesus Christ. God truly did become man and walk among us. He has never really left; He truly is Emmanuel, God with us.” Fr. David Miloscia, Class of 2015 – St. Louis ORAL AUCTION 11. Kenrick-Glennon Seminary serves many dioceses and several religious orders and continues a rich heritage of philosophical, theological, and priestly pastoral service while cognizant of the challenges of contemporary evangelization. Our seminary is comprised of Kenrick School of Theology, a four-year graduate program that prepares men for ordination to the priesthood; a two-year Pre-Theology program; and Cardinal Glennon College, a four-year undergraduate program that prepares men for ordination studies. www.kenrick.edu www.facebook.com/cgcstl www.twitter.com/kenrickglennon www.youtube.com/kenrickglennon To conclude the evening, please join our seminarians in singing the Salve Regina. O clemens: O pia: O dulcis Virgo Maria THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING OUR FUTURE PRIESTS!
