This year Wangen is celebrating the city’s
1200-year existence. This extraordinary city
anniversary will be celebrated the whole year
through with numerous events and festivities.
The first highlight - the New Year Reception
on the market place - was the kick-off into
this jubilee year.
We as well are very excited about this highly
interesting year to come. Thanks to a solid
amount of orders at hand of about 14 million
Euros half of the annual turnover of 2014 has
already been achieved at the beginning of the
year. The figures forecast even more growth.
GRUNWALD is well-equipped for executing its
orders quickly and on schedule.

Everything good in Milk
Milk science with Procal - technical science with GRUNWALD
DE TAIL S ON THE MACHINE
INFO
Procal Dairies is a young and very successful
dairy with enormous experiences with regard
to the production and distribution of food
products. Even though they just started with
the sale of high-quality dairy products a few
years ago – or more precisely in the year
2003 – they already rank among the biggest,
independent producers of dairy products in
Australia.
In 2008 Procal Dairies established one of
the state-of-the-art dairies in the world in
Campbellfield in the state of Victoria for
producing fresh milk.
Since then Procal Dairies is capable of
producing over 120 million litres of milk
annually and uses some of the most efficient
filling equipment available. The milk arrives
daily, direct from farms located in Victoria
and Southern NSW and is then quickly and
efficiently processed into various products,
including their quality milk, cream and
yoghurts.
The slogan of Procal Dairies “Everything
good in Milk” stands for the commitment
to first-class product quality which was
emphasised by being awarded several gold
medals through the DIAA Australian Dairy
product competition in 2013.
For the extension of their product range Procal
Dairies was looking for a reliable supplier of
machines who could meet the high demand
for filling newly developed yoghurt products
with format flexible cup filling machines and
sophisticated solutions for dosing applications.
Upon the recommendation of an Australian
customer the first contact was established
in 2008. Supported by the GRUNWALD sales
office, GRUNWALD Australia developed several
projects which were implemented and realized
quickly.
The fact that these projects had to be handled
trans continentally did not hinder the
development and realization of these projects.
After all technical details had been clarified,
Procal Dairies placed the first machine order.
At the beginning of 2013, a format flexible
bucket line for set yoghurt and stirred
yoghurt was delivered.
The rapid further development of the product
portfolio and the demand for premium
yoghurt products resulted in a further order
just a few months later. :
•a format flexible rotary-type machine for
yoghurt products in round 1 kg cups
and
•a format flexible linear machine type
GRUNWALD-FOODLINER 6.000 in full-servo
version.
The investment in this flexible linear machine
allows for an incredible variety of various
product presentations such as
• stirred fruit yoghurt
• yoghurt with fruit layer
• yoghurt with fruit topping
• “side-by-side” and
• “swirl”
It was a great pleasure for us to accept
this challenge from ”down under“ and to
implement it successfully.
We are proud of the fact that our customers
appreciate the high build quality and reliability
of our cup and bucket filling machines and
are pleased to have accompanied the road
to success of Procal Dairies on a partnership
basis by supplying these filling machines.
The delivery of these technically challenging
filling machines created another excellent
reference in the Australian dairy industry.

Precise filling technology for products from the experts
Kühlmann once again puts their faith in the cup filler GRUNWALD-ROTARY 12.000
INF O
The origin of this company goes back to the
beginning of the 20th century when Heinrich
Kühlmann founded an agricultural trade in
Rietberg-Westerwiehe.
The family business Heinrich Kühlmann GmbH
& Co. KG originated from this agricultural
trade today has more than 800 employees and
is directed by a 4-person management team.
Kühlmann attaches great value to processing
exclusively high-quality food products – without using preservatives, flavours, colourants
or flavour enhancers.
More than 10 years ago the responsible
persons of Kühlmann made a decision in
favour of GRUNWALD cup filling machines
for the first time. Since that time we have
had many common projects which resulted
in further machine orders so that Kühlmann already has 13 GRUNWALD machines
in total in their plants in Westerwiehe and
Westenholz.
abundance of new ideas and who quickly implement these ideas in technical solutions.
Both companies benefitted from this intense
cooperation and we certainly do not exaggerate if we say that this cooperation was also instrumental in the successful and rapid growth
of both companies.
Successful combination
Some of these “special machines“ which Kühlmann uses successfully in their production
were developed by both companies in cooperation and optimised continuously during their
building phases so that ultimately both parties
benefit from it. This is a typical win-win situation: Kühlmann has a tailor-made machine
giving maximum profit potential. GRUNWALD
benefits from the insights gained in practice
with the development and conception of further machines.
Always full of ideas
GRUNWALD is looking for and likes new challenges. We prefer developing and optimising
our ideas and solutions on the basis of precise
customer requirements. In turn the responsible persons of Kühlmann need partners who
support them with their rapid growth and the
A further typical example is the 2-lane
GRUNWALD-ROTARY 12.000 supplied for filling delicatessen salads in rectangular plastic
cups. These cups had to be sealed with plastic
sealing film from the reel and their headspace
had to be injected with gas at the maximum
possible cycle speed. In order to achieve a
low remaining oxygen value in the final packing when using this sealing technology, the
evacuation and injection of inert gas had been
necessary in the past.
This complex technology is not only expensive
but also reduces the speed of the machine to
max. 15 cycles/min.
Newly designed cutting/sealing station
According to the motto “there is no way for
“no way““ our experts set to work and the result was a completely newly designed cutting/
sealing station which does not only allow for
a high cycle speed of up to 45 cycles/min. due
to the use of 3 servo motors but also operates
extremely quietly and thus without stressing
the packing material. In addition, the specially
developed gas injection technology allows for
a constant remaining oxygen value in the tray
of less than 3 % and this without using the
complex evacuation technology.
We thank all employees of Kühlmann for their
constant faith in GRUNWALD and the positive
and always pleasant cooperation.
Today we already look forward to the next
challenge and the next joint project.

8 HIGHLIGHT - GRUNWALD‘s customer magazine no 31 / March 2015
The 10th Commandment „Have visions“
GRUNWALD rotary-type machine produces award-winning cheeses
On the so-called „Jakobi Day” on, 25 July
1924 the monastery cheese dairy Schlierbach
was founded in Upper Austria by the monk
Leonhard. Today’s largest abbey cheese dairy in
Europe is specialised in the production of soft
and cut cheese and meanwhile has become
the market leader in the field of soft cheese
with red cheese
cultures.
The producer claims
that comparable to
the 10 commandments the contents
of the Schlierbach
cheese are essential!
Monk Josef who is very fastidious as far as
cheese is concerned recommends to adhere
to the following 10 commandments of pure
taste:
1st commandment: ENJOY TO THE FULL!
2nd commandment: CHOOSE ORGANIC
QUALITY!
3rd commandment: ONLY USE NATURAL
FINISH RAW MATERIALS!
4th commandment: ALLOW RIPENING!
5th commandment: ENSURE THE BEST TASTE!
6th commandment: STICK TO THE TRADITION
7th commandment: HONOR THE RECIPES!
8th commandment: FULFILL DESIRES!
9th commandment: LOVE YOUR
ENVIRONMENT!
10th commandment: HAVE VISIONS!
The up-to-date and flexible cup-filling
machine GRUNWALD-HITTPAC AKH-059
produced in the year 2014 AD was now
installed and successfully put into operation in the historic walls of the cistercian
monastery Schlierbach dating back to the
year 1000 AD.
The challenges were tremendous. At the
installation of the cup-filling unit both the
provisions of the protection of historical
monuments and the extreme building
conditions of an abbey had to be taken into
account.
At the same time the requirements for an
optimal operation of the machine had to be
fulfilled.
If the modern world meets the past ...
this can be quite exciting. The concept for
bringing in and installing was thus developed
in mutual cooperation. First all ceiling heights
were measured in detail. The measures of the
historic building and the non-changeable
specifications for the connections of the
rotary-type machine formed the basis for
the machine design of a highly modern
fully-automatic cup-filling machine type
GRUNWALD-HITTPAC AKH-059.
Visions in a row
In our brochures the reader can find our
motto “Make your vision a reality – step ahead
with GRUNWALD”. Therefore it was especially
exciting for us to support the “heavenly
visions” of the monastery cheese dairy
Schlierbach and help to realize them.
The cistercian monastery Schlierbach is ruled
by the „Regula Benedicti“, i.e. “taking care of
the presence in order to enable a future worth
living”. Thus it is not astonishing that in the
year 2012 the enterprise was completely reorganized into an organic farm in order to
enable and to guarantee access to regional
foodstuff.
In several steps the cheese dairy located in
historic masonry was updated to the latest
technology.
When GRUNWALD received the order for a new
cup filling machine in May 2014 they became
part of these visions. We are especially pleased
to have actively supported the monastery
cheese dairy Schlierbach and to have realized
visions once again.
They were looking for a cup filling machine
with a production output of approx. 5,000
cups/h for filling goat cream cheese and
sheep’s cream cheese in hexagonal 150 gram
plastic cups. The short delivery time was
also a decisive factor for placing the order. It
was also of importance that this cup filling
machine could be manufactured within the
shortest possible delivery time and brought in
and positioned in the historic building taking
into account the existing circumstances.
Winning medals by visions
When the order was placed nobody was aware
that visions could rapidly bring astonishing
results.
The abbey cheese dairy took part in several
competitions at the end of last year and
simultaneously received several top awards :
• AMA „Käse-Kaiser (cheese emperor)
for the best cream cheese in Austria.
Thus it was awarded the popular trophy
“Käse-Kaiser”!
• The gold medal of the World Cheese Award
in Great Britain, one of the most renowned
international cheese competitions. A
250-member jury assessed the winners out
of 2600 different cheeses from 33 nations.
• At the 12th cheese Olympic, the
“Käseiade”,
the
Bio-Käserei
Stift
Schlierbach (organic cheese dairy)
experienced a real blessing of medals with
five gold medals. In the category “goat
cream cheese” they achieved a double
victory – gold and silver! In total more
than 300 cheeses from 132 national and
international companies were submitted.
Bio-Käserei Stift Schlierbach was especially
pleased about these awards as they also
celebrated their 90th anniversary in 2014.
We are happy that the new “Käsekaiser”
is now produced on the GRUNWALD cup
filling machine supplied for this purpose and
congratulate Bio-Käserei Stift Schlierbach
on winning this enormous medal and on
the realization of their visions. We thank
them very much for the confidence placed in
GRUNWALD and look forward to continuing
our cooperation!

10 HIGHLIGHT - GRUNWALD‘s customer magazine no 31 / March 2015
The high-performance machine of GRUNWALD
Bucket filling machine with sensational dosing accuracy
has been delivered

Approx. 10 – 12 buckets/min. for 5 kg bucket
Approx. 7 – 10 buckets/min. for 10 kg bucket
Approx. 3 – 5 buckets/min. for 20 kg bucket
The continuous growth of the past few
years and the constantly positive number
of incoming orders from the dairy industry,
are evidence that GRUNWALD is recognised
as a reliable and highly competent supplier
of cup and bucket filling machines. We
were therefore especially pleased to supply
a machine to a well-known and one of the
leading producers of dairy products. This
internationally operating company recently
purchased a high-performance, 1-lane
bucket filling machine type GRUNWALDFLEXLINER XL for filling and packing cream
cheese specialities.
In the past this company already put their faith
in GRUNWALD cup filling machines when filling cream cheese and mozzarella balls and a
rotary-type machine for filling cream cheese
in 1.5 kg and 3.5 kg packs for large-scale consumers.
Last year they also planned to replace their old
bucket line.
Their aim was not only to purchase a modern machine with high hygiene standards but
also to increase the production speed and efficiency of their line due to this new machine
and above all to benefit from possible savings
due to the improved weight accuracy during
filling.
Sensational dosing accuracy
Due to their positive experiences with the
machines supplied, they decided to purchase
another machine with GRUNWALD.
The quoted GRUNWALD-FLEXLINER XL/1 met
all their production requirements. They were
especially convinced of the weighing technology used because it guarantees sensational
dosing accuracy at a high cycle speed.
GRUNWALD guarantees for these products –
e. g. for filling cream cheese – a standard deviation of less than 0.15 %. The values achieved
in practice are usually considerably better.
Maximum operating convenience
A further factor for making a decision in favour of GRUNWALD, was the high flexibility
and quick format changeover to other formats.
This machine handles buckets of 4 different
sizes, from 3 kg to 20 kg. The changeover can
be carried out within only a few minutes by

Precise cutting due to rotating blade
the operator himself. Due to the use of special quick locks, the format parts can be exchanged without tools. The operator can also
do this himself and this does not have to be
carried out by a service engineer. In addition, a
checklist on the touch panel supports the operator during the format changeover step by
step. This facilitates this work and helps avoid
mistakes.
The adjustment to different bucket heights is
made in fully-automatic operation by using
the values stored in the product menu.
First class technology
The trouble-free denesting of the buckets and
lids as well as efficient and reliable sealing of
the bucket with plastic sealing film from the
reel is considered to be a matter of course
anyway on GRUNWALD machines.
Should a bucket nevertheless not be tightly
sealed this will be recognised in the downstream leak test control and this bucket will
be discharged. The laminar cabin mounted as
well as the filler in CIP design guarantee constant hygiene conditions and thus consistent
high quality of the final product. The servodriven lowering movement of the filling valve
guarantees the careful filling of the product at
a high speed.
The successful implementation of the customer’s task and the quick and trouble-free commissioning of the GRUNWALD-FLEXLINER XL
obviously convinced the persons responsible.
In view of this successful order handling, the
customer placed a further order for a linear
machine with GRUNWALD in the meantime.
