The UNIS Community Education Program is run by the Co-Curricular Activities Office at UNIS Hanoi
and is open to all members of the Hanoi Community. At UNIS Hanoi, we believe that learning and
personal development should take place throughout our whole lives. We provide opportunities for
continuing education and we encourage and promote a deeper understanding of our host country
and of others. Please contact our Community Education Officer, Ms Ha Thien Ha, at the UNIS CoCurricular Activities Office for further information.

Community Education Mission Statement
Community Education classes provide an opportunity for all residents of Hanoi to become a part of the UNIS
Hanoi community through classes offered for adults and children. Community Education classes should
strive to meet the continuing education needs of both expatriate and Vietnamese residents.
While it is important for Community Education classes to be financially self-sustaining, these classes are not
necessarily a source of revenue for UNIS. Rather, they are a vital component of the school’s public relations
efforts.
No email or phone registrations, please!

All registration is done online at www.unishanoi.org/comed. ComEd is unable to accept
registration via email or phone.

All participants will receive an email invoice indicating what is owed for each course. Please
pay at the UNIS Business Office (Admin Building) in cash, deposit VND cash at the ANZ Bank
(show invoice), or make a bank transfer in VND. The UNIS Business Office is open from 8:00
to 17:00 Monday – Friday. If payment has not been received by the date indicated on the
invoice, we reserve the right to give the place to those on the waitlist.

We do not accept partial bookings for classes.

Withdrawal from a course will only be refunded if the course has yet to start.

If a class is postponed, every attempt will be made to re-schedule. When a class cannot be
rescheduled, a refund for the postponed classes will be issued.

Refund policy
- Refunds will be made when courses are canceled .
- Once you enroll in a course, your attendance and payment are expected.
- For sport activities, no refund will be given for cancelation due to weather.

Please sign your waiver of liability form and submit it to Co-Curricular Activities Office if this
is your first time participating in the ComEd programme.


Indian Cooking

Experience the delights of Indian Cuisine in Hanoi. Ms. Kavitha Srikumar will introduce you to the basics of home
cooked Indian Cuisine. In the class you will be able to learn dishes such as yeast paratha, palak paneer, Indian masala
tea, vegetable kabab, method of making garam masala at home, chicken tikka pulao, achari Dal (lentil), spinach raita,
Indian roti, paneer (cottage cheese) mughali, home made cottage cheese, semolina upma (lunch box variety), masala
dosa (lunch box snacks), home made garam masala, butter naan, garlic naan, butter chicken. Once you learn the simple
technique, you can be creative and make your own dishes with variations. Ms. Kavitha Srikumar will share the preparation technique with you. The language of instruction is English.

A Stroll Through the Old Streets

A Stroll Through the Citadel

Transitional Architecture in the Thien Quang Lake Area

This unique tour created by Linda Mogul will take you on an adventure around Thien Quang Lake. This area may
look quite serene but its history is full of interesting untold stories. In the 1920s and 1930s, the Thien Quang Lake
area became the home for the rich, powerful and famous. In the 1930s, new zoning laws compelled the owners to
build villas and refrain from opening businesses. Newly graduated architects from the beaux arts college began experimenting with modern designs and materials. These architectural wonders are rarely on the regular tours but

Lacquer Painting Workshop

Are you interested in discovering Vietnamese Lacquer Painting? Lacquer School Tay Ho offers a special lacquer
painting course of 5 classes for UNIS ComEd. In this course, you will have the opportunity to learn the traditional Asian
lacquer art using materials such as mother of pearl, gold and silver leaves, eggshell etc… You can paint pictures as well
as decorate vases, boxes and bowls. Lacquer painting requires many processes over a long period of time, but you will
finish a small painting during the 5 class course. The classes are instructed by artist Tran Anh Tuan who is MasterProfessor of Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Art.

in the home, focusing on the following areas: general information, how to deal with a fire, safety in the kitchen,

Life Support (BLS), Danger - Respond - Send for help - Airway - Breathing - Circulation - Defibrillation approaches

Dragon boat Club

Are you interested in Dragon boat, a human powered watercraft? Joining the Dragon boat club, you have opportunity to travel on the Ho Tay
lake and visit many Temples around the lake with fresh air. It is a great
activity for physical and mental development as well as teamwork. Is it
a fun, social, interactive way to make new friends. You will be led by Mr
Tran Duc The who is experienced in this activity and has been a member of the Dragon Club for many years. The activity is suitable for adult
