March 5, 2013 Dear Music Educator, We are excited to announce
March 5, 2013
Dear Music Educator,
We are excited to announce our Student Flute Scholarship Program by the Rochester
Flute Association, which may benefit one of your elementary or middle school flute
students. We have a 2007 Gemeinhardt 2S flute available for student use from June
2013- June 2014, free of charge. Many students need to turn in their instruments at the
end of the school year. Here is an opportunity for a flutist to have an instrument through
the summer and the next school year. We are particularly interested in finding a student
who is already playing the flute, but would not otherwise have an instrument they could
secure for the upcoming summer and school year.
The Rochester Flute Association is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1995, with
200 members, including students, teachers, and adult amateurs. Our mission is to
promote the enjoyment and appreciation of the flute, to assist members in achieving
musical excellence, and to facilitate and exchange ideas among flutists, teachers, and
flute enthusiasts. This Student Flute Scholarship Program is an example of the type of
project we are proud to offer and hope that you will participate if you have an appropriate
student. Please fill out the attached application and return it to the Rochester Flute
Association, c/o Rebekah Valerio 553 Gillett Road, Spencerport, NY 14559 on or before
June 3, 2013.
Sincerely Yours,
Joanna Bassett

2013 Student Flute Scholarship Program Application
The 2013 Rochester Flute Association Student Flute Scholarship Program is designed to provide the means
for a special student to have the use of a flute and to continue his/her music training from June 2013 - June
2014. The goals of this program are to recognize a young person with an affinity for the instrument, to
reward someone for demonstrating improvement, to encourage and nurture an interest in music, and to
foster overall self confidence through participation and success in the arts.
The Student Flute Scholarship will be based on merit, aptitude, enthusiasm, and need. One Rochester area
student will be selected by a committee from the Rochester Flute Association. The recipient will receive:
