Table tennis has been actively played in Poreč since 1985 and the School of Table Tennis at the Table
Tennis Club “Poreč” was opened in 1993.The most splendid ever results were achieved by the Club in
the period between 1995 and 2000, when all the age groups won excellent 4th and 5th places, judging by
the result totals, among over 80 clubs from all over Croatia. Up to now, the Club has mainly worked
with the youngsters who won 11 ace titles both in individual and team competitions at Croatian
championships. The national team included 5 cadets, who took part in the European championships. As
the youngest team, they placed themselves also into the senior 2nd Croatian league, where they have
remained to date. The female team also played in the 1st Croatian league and presently they are playing
in the 2nd league, together with the young team. Some players, who have stayed in the Club up to now,
also play in the 1stCroatian league, so the Club raised several, now already senior players, who find
themselves among better table tennis players in Croatia.To date, the Club boasts approximately 600
cups and 300 medals both in Croatia and throughout Europe.
The same success follows this Club when it comes to competition organisation, popularisation of the
sport and the opening of new clubs in the Poreč region.A long time ago, back in 1993 and 1996, a
European league meeting was held between Croatia and Italy in the senior class. This marked the start
of a shining career for the Club and the town of Poreč, which was building its image through tourism and
sport. Teams and clubs have been coming for table tennis training to Poreč since 2003. Soon thereafter,
ideal conditions were created for training, with top quality equipment consisting of 30-50 “Butterfly”
tables at the tourist resort”Zelena Laguna”, in the sports hall Intersport . Thanks to the trainers of the
Table Tennis Club Poreč, 8 clubs were formed 7 years ago. Today, the Poreč region has 7 trainers with
licences from the Faculty of Kinesiology in Zagreb, thanks to the Table Tennis Club Poreč. For the ninth
year, the highest quality senior tournament in Croatia, Poreč Open Alpe Adria, has been held and, this
year, the International veteran open tournament Dr.”Žarko Dolinar”was also held, and is to remain in
Poreč. This tournament also features in the European federation calendar. Thanks to the trainers of the
Table Tennis Club Poreč, the European Veteran Championship was held in 2009 in Poreč, in which 3,000
participants took place. All the clubs and teams can, during their training in Poreč, play with the Table
Tennis Club Poreč, which makes the town of Poreč an ideal place for top quality table tennis players’
training throughout the year.We offer excellent conditions for those who wish to visit Croatia and Poreč
as a tourist destination and, at the same time, use that time for a training and activity holiday with the
help of the Table Tennis Club “Poreč” from Poreč, or by making individual arrangements.
