Spring Term
Dear Parents, Friends, Students and Teachers:
If you are interested in continuing your studies after the last
day April 9th in a shorter Spring Term, please let your
teacher know. We need to have the numbers in order to be
able to make up the courses. Courses in the Spring Term
can only be held if we have 5 or more participants.
School Closures
We are now well into our second term and have had our
first Snow Day. If the public schools are closed - we are
closed as well. The Halifax Regional School Board
announces public school cancellations on their website
www.hrsb.ns.ca or you can call their information number
464-4636. Unfortunately we are unable to post school
closures on our website www.german-language-school.ca.
If you are still in doubt because of bad weather or poor
driving conditions, you can call the GHLS number 4257657.

Karneval / Fasching
We will celebrate Karneval on February
19th.
Gereimtes Rätsel
The children will be having a dress up party. Our teachers
will provide more information.
In der Luft, da fliegt’s,
auf der Erde liegt’s,
auf dem Baume sitzt es,
in der Hand, da schwitzt es,
auf dem Ofen zerläuft’s,
in dem Wasser ersäuft’s,
wer gescheit ist, begreift’s.
The adults will celebrate Karneval in the latter half of their
class. At that time all adult classes will be combined into
one large class where everyone will share interesting and
fun information about this holiday.

Prinz Karneval kann nur noch krächzen,
seine Stimme ist verbraucht,
hatte jeden Tag ’nen Auftritt,
jetzt ist er ganz geschlaucht.
Anders geht’s den jungen Funken.
Sie tanzen ohne Unterlass,
schwingen graziös die Beinchen
Und haben großen Spaß.
Das alles schenkt uns Karneval,
bringt drei tolle Tage.
Am Aschermittwoch sind vorbei
Die Freud’ und Katerplage.

Heute wird geschunkelt,
heute wird gelacht,
es wird gehüpft, gesungen
bis weit nach Mitternacht.
Mit Helau und Wumtata
zieh’n wir durch den Saal.
Bützchen hier und Bützchen dort,
heut’ wohl tausendmal.
Ob Cowboy, ob Mariechen,
man findet alles hier.
Bunte Röcke, große Hüte
Und Nasen aus Papier
