There isn’t a proper taxi service in Val di Sole charging taximeter fares, but it is possible to hire
a car with a driver. Fares are calculated on a lump-sum basis depending on distance, route
and time. There are no taxi stops and the service is to be asked to and agreed upon with the
carriers themselves.
Die Taxiunternehmen im Val di Sole berechnen ihre Fahrten nicht mittels Fahrpreisanzeiger, es
ist aber möglich einen Wagen mit Fahrer zu mieten. Die Fahrpreise werden pauschal berechnet
und richten sich nach: Kilometerzahl, Strecke, benötigte Zeit. Es gibt keine Taxistände und der
Transport wird direkt mit dem Fahrer abgesprochen.

Ärztliche Versorgung für Touristen
from July 4 to September 9
Medical assistance is ensured from Monday to Sunday from 8.00 to 20.00. A fee of Euro
20,00 for surgery visits and of Euro 30,00 for home visits is charged.
Foreigner healthcare: starting on July 1st, 2004, all residents of EU countries will have direct
access to the healthcare services provided in other member States by simply submitting their
TEAM card (or an equivalent document). The healthcare forms for members of foreign healthcare organisations (green booklets) are no longer used.
Residents of non EU countries having underwritten specific healthcare agreements with the European Union (Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Croatia, former Yugoslavia, etc.) will have to submit
to the local healthcare offices the document issued by their native country.
Please note that without a proper healthcare document (TEAM card or native country document), patients will be charged full current rates, even if they have underwritten a private
healthcare insurance policy.
From 8 pm to 8 am, Tourists staying in lower Val di Sole (from Commezzadura to Cavizzana,

Die ärtzliche Versorgung ist an jedem Wochentag und an jedem Sonntag garantiert, von 8.00
bis 20.00 Uhr gegen ein Entgelt von Euro 20,00 für ein Praxisbesuch und Euro 30,00 für
ein Hausbesuch.
Medizinische Versorgung für Ausländer: ab dem 1. Juli 2004 hat jeder EU-Bewohner direkten Zugang zum Gesundheitsdienst der arden Mitglieds-Staaten u.z. kann man sich arden
Gesundheitsdienst eines arden Staates wenden, indem man einfach den eigenen TEAM Schein (oder Ersaztmodell desselben) vorweist. Es sind daher alle jeweiligen “Scheine für die
medizinische Versorgung der Versicherten von ausländischen Krankenversicherungen (grüner
Schein), die bis jetzt im Umlauf waren, abgeschafft.
Ausländer, die aus Staaten ausserhalb der EU kommen, aber mit denen bilaterale Abkommen
bestehen (Australien, Argentinien, Brasilien, Kroatien, Ex-Jugoslawien, usw.), müssen sich an
den jeweiligen Gesundheitsbezirk wenden, mit einem Ausweis aus dem Herkunftsland. Man
weist darauf hin, dass der fehlende Krankenpflege-Schein (TEAM oder Schein vom Land mit

dem ein bilaterales Abkommen besteht) die komplette Bezahlung der hiesigen Leistungen mit
sich bringt, auch für diejenigen, die in Besitz privater Versicherungen sind.

The Marinelli smithy is a rare example of a hydraulic forge in

stone stairway and the inside of the smithy does not make it

Located in the lower part of the valley and overlooking the
Noce River, this magnificent castle dominates over the town
of Caldes. The castle’s present appearance is the result of
various architectural interventions that began back in the
13th century and continued up until the 16th century. There
is a legend surrounding the castle that describes how a
young woman named Olinda was locked in a small room

within the castle by her father, in order to prevent her from marrying Arunte, the castle’s minstrel.
After being imprisoned in the castle, Olinda died of a broken heart. Decorative accents in several rooms of the castle are currently being restored. The Castle can be partially visited during
the summer with free admission

Im Herzen des Val di Sole und entlang des FLusses Noce, dominiert das imposante Schloss am
Rande des Dorfes Caldes. Sein Äußeres ist das Ergebnis von verschiedenen architektonischen
Phase, die im Jahre 200 begonnen haben und bis zum 16. Jhd. Angedauert haben, Eine Legende erzählt von der Haft eines Mädchens Namens Olinda, die von ihrem Vater Rodemondo
in einem kleinen Raum eingeschlossen wurde, um die Hochzeit mit Arunte zu verhindern, einem
Jungen Knecht für den sie aus Liebe ihr Leben gab. Die Dekorationen in einigen Räumlichkeiten
sind derzeitig in Restaurierung. Das Schloss wird im Sommer teilweise zu besuchen sein (Eintritt
frei). Öffnungszeiten: bis 6.11. täglich 10.00-18.00 Uhr (Montags geschlossen, außer wenn

The MMape (Bee Museum) was created with the collaboration of the Croviana Municipality, the local Beekeepers Association and the Mach Foundation, to give others the chance
to learn more about beekeeping and the world of bees. The
museum is located within the old mill in Croviana, that also
hosts the very first co-op honey extraction facility in Trentino,
where visitors can embark on a unique sensorial experience
to get to know the world of bees, see how honey is extracted,
sample various types of honey and purchase all of the products that come from a beehive which
are all locally produced.

Das MMape entspringt aus einer Zusammenarbeit zwischen der Gemeinde Croviana, dem
Bienenzüchterverein und der Mach-Stiftung, mit dem Ziel die Bienenzucht-Aktivität und die Bienenwelt bekannt zu machen. In der alten Mühle von Croviana, wo sich auch das erste SozioLabor der Imker des Trentino befindet, kann man sich auf eine sensorielle Reise begeben und in

The castle is located on a rocky outcrop and it dates back to
the Lombard period even though the first written material regarding the castle is from 1191. Over the years, several
noble families owned the castle and between the nineteenth
and twentieth century, Bertha von Suttner, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1905 was also a co-owner of the castle.
The castle’s tower, which is 25 meters high, is the best conserved and most characteristic feature of the entire castle.

Die Burg erhebt sich auf einem Felssporn und geht vermutlich auf die Zeit der Langobarden
zurück, die ersten schriftlichen Erwähnungen stammen aber aus dem Jahre 1191. Verschiedene
Adelsfamilien lösten sich auf der Burg ab und zwischen dem 19. und 20. Jahrhundert war
Bertha von Suttner, die 1905 den Friedensnobelpreis erhielt, Miteigentümerin der Burg. Der
25 Meter hohe Schlossturm ist auch heute noch das am charakteristischsten und besterhaltene
architektonische Element der gesamten Burganlage.

Forte Strino is located along the Tonale road, between Passo
Tonale and Vermiglio. Built in 1862, it was part of the region’s fortification system that was developed by the Austrian
General Staff soon after Italy’s independence wars, when
Trentino became the southern border region of the AustroHungarian Empire. The Fort, that played a forefront role during the First World War, just as the nearby village of Vermiglio, has been recently brought to light again by patient
digging work and an almost archaeological restoration. Today, nearly 100 years after the events in which it was involved, the Fort has been turned into a historic museum of the
“White War”.

Der Fort von Strino liegt entlang der Straße des Tonales, zwischen dem gleichnamigen Paß und
dem Dorf von Vermiglio. Im Jahre 1862 erbaut und gehört zum Befestigungssystem des österreichischen Oberstaats, am Tag nach den Unabhängigkeitskriegen, als das Trentino sich im
südlichen Grenzgebiet des österreichischen-ungarischen Imperiums befand. Der Fort, wie auch
das Dorf von Vermiglio, spielten eine Rolle an der vordersten Front während des 1. Weltkrieges
und heute, fast 100 Jahre nach dem Ende der Ereignisse, die es als Darsteller miterlebte, ist
es ans Tageslicht gebracht worden, dank geduldiger Ausgrabungen und fast archeologischer
Instandsetzung, als historisches Museum des “Weißen Krieges”.

It is possible to visit the Paradiso Tunnel, located on top of the
Tonale Pass (2.573 m asl), during the summer period and it
can be reached from Passo Tonale by taking the Paradiso
gondola lift. The Tunnel is a long cave that was dug out of
granite during the war and it was used by soldiers as a shelter from the freezing cold and from any artillery attacks. It
now hosts a multimedia exhibit called “Sounds and Voices of
the White War”. Outside, in the surrounding areas, it is also
possible to visit an educational itinerary to discover the Mon-

ticelli fortified area, at the base of the Austrian defence system at Passo Tonale.
Die Galerie Paradiso ist nur im Sommer besuchbar und befindet sich in 2.573 m Höhe am
gleichnamigen Pass. Mit der Seilbahn Paradiso erreichbar. Die Galerie entstand aus einem
während der Kriegszeit ausgehöhltem Tunnel im Granit. Er diente den Solfdaten als Schutz vor
der Kälte, den Stürmen und der Artillerie. Multimediale Ausstellung. Im äußeren Bereich findet
man eine didaktische Strecke zu den Festungswerken von Monticelli, den Stützpunkten des
österr. Verteidigungssystems des Tonale-Passes.

FISHING / ANGELN
For all foreign tourists who would like to fish while in Val di Sole, an amateur fishing license
valid for 30 days that can be requested once a year (free of charge) is required. This license
can be issued in any one of the “Associazione Pescatori” (Fishing Associations) within the Province of Trento. A 1-day fishing permit for the area in which the tourist has chosen to fish is also
required. The fishing permit for foreign tourists is issued at the “Associazione Sportiva Pescatori
Solandri” located in the town of Pellizzano, Via Nazionale, 21 - Tel. e fax 0463 750885

The 1-day fishing permit, at a cost of € 18, can then be purchased in any of the authorized
points in the valley that sells fishing permits.

“Sasiass” Wall: can be easily reached, routes with various difficulty levels ranging from 3a to
6b grades, but an overall easy level suitable for beginners and children. The elevation rise is
from 12 to 30 metres.

“C.Costanzi” Wall: a 5 minute walk to the area called Regazzini, this wall has 40 routes of
various levels of difficulty, ranging from 5a to 7c grades (most routes are between 6a and 7a
grades). The routes are spiked and perfectly maintained.
Kletterwand “C.Costanzi”: in 5 Min. zu Fuß vom Ortsteil Regazzini erreichbar mit ca. 40
Wegen, mit Schwierigkeitsgraden die von 5a bis 7c gehen (meistens zwischen 6a und 7a).

“Doss of Saint Brigida” Wall: a 20 minute walk from the Belvedere area, in Folgarida. The
wall has 12 routes, whose levels of difficulty range from 4a and 6c (most routes are not very
difficult). All routes are spiked and perfectly maintained.
Kletterwand “Doss di S. Brigida”: in 20 Min. zu Fuß vom Gebiet Belvedere in Folgarida
erreichbar; Möglichkeit auf 12 Wegen zu klettern, mit Schwierigkeitsgrad von 4a bis 6c,

“Centrale” Wall: 5 routes, 3 of which have two pitches, maximum height 37 m, difficulty level
between 5a and 6b
“Stavel” Wall: located in the area called Stavel in Vermiglio. 7 routes with a length that varies
from 6 to 13 m and a difficulty level ranging from 3a to 6a. Friction climbing suited for children
and beginners.

“Monticelli” Wall: 40 routes, maximum height 120 m - difficulty level between 4b and 8a
“Paradiso” Wall: this climbing wall is located right at the arrival station of the Paradiso cablecar, coming from Passo Tonale. There are 10 routes of various levels of difficulty, ranging from
4a and 6b grades.

VAL DI PEIO
Ponte Vecchio “Ai Crozi di Cisa” Wall: it’s located in Val De la Mare at about 9 km from
Cogolo village. Drive to the junction of Ponte Vecchio Alm and then walk about 15 min. At

the present time the trails for climbing are about ten, from the 4a to the 6c level difficulty (some
itineraries show a length till 4 rope pulls). Furthermore, 3 short itineraries of 15 minutes with a
difficulty corresponding to a 6b - 6c.
Kletterwand von Ponte Vecchio “Ai Crozi de Cisa”: in Val de La Mare, ca. 9 Km entfernt,
mit dem Auto aus befahrbar von der Ortschaft von Cogolo aus (bis zur Abzweigung zur
Pontevecchio-Alm) und von hier aus 15 Min. zu Fuß.
Zur Zeit sind die Kletterwege ca. 10, mit Schwierigkeitsgrad von 4a - 6c (einige Wege haben bis zu 4 Seillängen). Außerdem stehen ca. 3 kurze Strecken von 15 m zur Verfügung mit
Schwierigkeitsgrad von 6b - 6c.
“Pradacci” Climbing Wall: located in Val del Monte approximately 2 km from Peio Fonti, you
can reach the Pradacci equipped area by car. This climbing wall should be used only with
suitable equipment and by experts in rope access techniques and manoeuvres. Equipped for
stops and for minimum 25 m doubles. Currently there are approximately 20 climbing routes
with a difficulty level between 4a to 6b.

CYCLING PATH
The Val di Sole cycling path mainly runs alongside the Noce River, following former country
roads, and the river bank. The track is 2,5 m wide, most of the areas are paved and the remaining areas are covered with small gravel.
The cycling path runs from Mostizzolo to Cogolo. Possible roadworks in the areas of Dimaro,
Mezzana and between Fucine and Cogolo. Bicigrill in Pellizzano. The whole track is 33 km
long. The map of the cycling path is avilable in all of the Information Offices in the valley.
RADWEG
Der Radweg im Val di Sole erstreckt sich fast gesamt entlang des Flusses Noce, vorbei an
altertümlichen Verbindungswegen und Neben- und Landstraßen. 2,5 m breit, teilweise Schotterstraße und teilweise auf Asphalt. Mögliche Baustellen in Dimaro, Mezzana und von Fucine bis
Cogolo. Der Weg erstreckt sich von Mostizzolo bis Cogolo

The two parks feature 21 itineraries between Val di Pejo and Val di Rabbi
They cross through the Stelvio National Park and are divided by difficulty levels and natural
environment. A total of 130 km, 68 km in Val di Peio (4 black itineraries, 2 red and 4 blue)
and 62 km in Val di Rabbi (3 black itineraries, 6 red and 2 blue)
21 Wege liegen in den Naturparks zwischen dem Peio-Tal und dem Rabbi-Tal.
Die Wege durchqueren den Stilfserjoch-Nationalpark und sind nach Schwierigkeitsgrad und
Landschafts-Typologie unterteilt. Es handelt sich um 21 Wegstrecken von insgesamt 130 km,
von denen 68 km im Val di Peio liegen (4 schwarze Strecken, 2 rote und 4 blaue), und 62 km
im Val di Rabbi (3 schwarze Strcken, 6 rote und 2 blaue).
VAL DI SOLE ROUTE
The Val di Sole Route is a 22 km nordic walking trail that starts in the town of Cavizzana and
goes all the way to Mezzana with additional 4 km trails in each of the ten towns.
The Val di Sole route therefore has a total of 60 km of trails.
Val di Sole Route ist eine Nordic Walking-Strecke, die 22 Km lang ist und von Cavizzana bis
Mezzana verläuft. Hinzu kommen weitere 10 Strecken, die je 4 Km lang sind in den einzelnen
Dörfern. Die Wege erstrecken sich durch altertümliche Pfade, Strassen und Militärsstrecken,
mitten im Grünen und durch Wälder auf der rechten orographischen Seite des Flusses Noce,
vorbei an einzigartigen und eindrucksvollen Landschaftsbildern.
Gesamt verfügt die Val di Sole Route über 60 Km Strecken.

PATHS AND LOCAL WALKS
Val di Sole has traditionally been endowed with a network of paths that are kept by the Società
Alpinisti Tridentini (SAT) and by local authorities. There is a great variety of hiking routes from
700 m. at the bottom of the valley to nearly 4,000 m on the highest peaks.
SAT paths are marked by red and white stripes and arrows painted on stones all along the
track and showing the number of the path, that is always made up of three figures.
We remind you that you need to be properly equipped with hiking boots, anorak, warm clothes, especially when you climb at a high altitude. Remember that the weather conditions can
change rapidly when you’re in the mountains, and that at high altitudes it sometimes snows
even in the summer. Also, remember to take some provisions with you, as well as a topographic
map and a compass.
At the Information Offices of the valley, you can find free maps of the various local areas in
addition to topographical maps or directions on paths and trails that have an average difficulty
level.

WEGE UND ÖRTLICHE SPAZIERGÄNGE
Das Val di Sole ist seit langem mit Wegen versehen, die von der SAT (Trientinische Gesellschaft
der Alpen) und von den Gemeinden gehalten sind. Die Wanderwege verzweigen sich mit
einer großen Landschaftsvielfalt ab 700 m im Tal bis hinauf auf fast 4000 m zu den kühnsten
Gipfeln.
Die Wege der SAT sind mit roten und weißen Strichen und Pfeilen gekennzeichnet, mit der Zahl
des Weges (immer 3 Ziffern) und man findet sie auf den Steinen bemalt entlang der Strecke.
Wir erinnern, daß vor allem in den Bergen eine angemessene Ausrüstung angebracht ist, wie
z.B. gute Wanderschuhe, Anorak, warme Kleidung. Man muß in der Tat nicht vergessen, daß
in den Bergen das Wetter schnell umschlägt und es auch im Sommer zu Schneefall kommen
kann. Es ist immer von Nutzen, eine Reserve an Nahrungsmittel, eine Geländekarte des Gebietes und einen Kompaß bei sich zu haben.
Karte der Wege und Spaziergänge sind in den Zeitungsläden im Tal erhältlich.
In den Infromationsbüros des Tales finden Sie kostenlose Ortskarten (topographische Karten und
Weg- und Wanderkarten bis zum mittelmäßigen Schwierigkeitsgrad.

The reported opening period is a mere indication, as it depends upon the weather conditions.
If you go hiking at the beginning or at the end of the season, we recommend that you make
sure that the hut is open before starting out.

BoscoDerniga is a natural oasis placed in the Adamello Presanella forests. It is located near the
old town centre of Ossana. Visitors can reach it through a pleasant walk in the wood, starting
from S. Michele’s Castle, or walking from Val Piana on a path that is also ideal for bikers and
strollers. BoscoDerniga is an interactive garden, where guests can discover the secrets of the
alpine forests and their beauty. Interactive games, fresh water from the spring and picnic tables
make it ideal for families and children. The garden is always open and the entrance is free. In
July and August special activities will be organized.
BoscoDerniga, ist eine natürliche Oase mitten in den Wäldern des Adamello Presanella, nicht
weit vom historischen Ortskern von Ossana entfernt. Erreichbar ist sie mit einem angenehmen
Spaziergang im Wald ab dem Schloss von S. Michele oder von dem wunderbaren Valpiana
aus, auf einem ebenen Weg, wo man auch mit dem Kinderwagen spazieren gehen kann oder
mit dem Rad fahren kann.
Dort wo sich einst eine Forstbaumschule befand, befindet sich heute ein großer Garten, in dem
man alle Geheimnisse des alpinen Waldes entdecken kann. Interaktive Spiele, Informationstafeln und große Picknick-Plätze, mit bequemen Bänken und frisches Quellwasser, ideal für
Familien und Kinder. Der Garten ist immer geöffnet und der Eintritt ist frei. In den Monaten Juli
und August werden zahlreiche Aktivitäten organisiert, damit sich der Besuch auch lohnt.

STELVIO NATIONAL PARK / Nationalpark Stilfserjoch
The Stelvio National Park covers an area of 130,700 hectares of Alpine territory, shared by
the Provinces of Bolzano (Val Venosta), Trento (Val di Sole) and the Lombardy Region (Valtellina
and Valcamonica). It is the largest Park in the Alps and a major European one. Below the snowclad peaks and perpetual glaciers, the landscape in the Park’s valleys is characterized by conifer forests and pastures. The National Park was set up in order to preserve, for the benefit of
future generations, the geological structure and wildlife of this Alpine region, as well as to
protect the art, culture and history of its inhabitants. The Park promotes scientific research and
encourages touristic and cultural visits. Since 1977, the Stelvio National Park has been linked
to the Swiss National Park of Engadina. The two Parks together are a unique, large multi-national protected area.
The Stelvio National Park Visitor Centres of Cogolo and Rabbi organise hikes in the wilderness
guided by the “Park Guides”.

The Peio Wildlife area is a tiny green paradise along the road going from Peio Fonti to Peio
Paese. The area is filled with deer and roe-deer confidently coming out from the woods to get
near passers-by. Visitors will have an opportunity to observe up close the relationships amongst
wild animals, thus getting in close contact with the wildlife and becoming truly part of an enchanting territory rich in natural resources. In order to satisfy visitors’ expectations, the so-called
“Deer house” has been provided with a modern info point and a quaint visitor centre.

Das faunistiche Zentrum von Pejo ist ein oleine grünes Paradies An der Landstraße, die nach
Pejo Fonti und Pejo Paese führt. Man findet dort Hirsche und Rehe, die ohne Angst aus dem
Wald kommen und die Besucher nah an sich ran lassen. Der Besucher kann von Nahem die
Beziehungsdynamiken der Fauna beobachten, mit der Natur in Berührung treten und so mit ihr
ein Bestandteil eines unerschöpflichem Gebietssystem werden.
Um den Ansprüchen der Wanderer gerecht zuwerden, ist im “Haus des Hirsches” (“Casa dei
Cervi”) ein moderner Informationspunkt und ein charakteristisches Besucherzentrum entstanden.

Trail n. 106 - 2 hrs - 250 m vertical drop - easy, pleasant walk
After leaving your car at the parking area located in the Coler area (€ 3,00/day), take the trail
to Malga Stablasolo (mountain dairy), a good area to spot wildlife. There is also a shuttle bus
from the parking area to Malga Stablasolo that leaves every 30 minutes from 7 a.m to 7 p.m.
The cost is € 1,00 including your return ticket. After Malga Stablasolo follow the unpaved road
to Malga Stablet, then take the trail climbing towards Saent. Before getting to the Saent plain,
by the picnic area, turn towards the waterfall trail and follow it all the way down past the lower
waterfall and back to Malga Stablasolo and then back to the parking area.
Weg Nr. 106 - 2 Std. - Höhenunterschied 250 m- leichter und angenehmer Spaziergang
Mit dem Auto fährt man bis zum Parkplatz von Stablasolo, von wo man zur gleichnamigen Alm
läuft. Von hier aus ist es möglich Wild zu beobachten. Läuft man auf dem Weg weiter, kommt
man zur Alm Stablet, von wo aus ein Weg zu den Wasserfällen führt.
Bevor man Saent erreicht und etwa in gleicher Höhe wie der Rastplatz, teilt sich der Weg zu
den Wasserfällen. Der Weg fürhrt am kleinen Wasserfall vorbei und zurück zur Stablasolo-Alm.

Easy walking tour - 5 hrs - 800 m vertical drop
Leave your car at the parking area at Rabbi Fonti. Walk to the Fontanon picnic area and then
continue straight on for about 500 metres up to the bridge over the Ragaiolo torrent. Cross
the bridge and turn right onto the link road that will take you to the Monte Sole Malga road.
Following the latter, you will get to the lower Malga Monte Sole (Bassa) in about 30 minutes.
The road continues up in the woods until it reaches the edge of the higher Malga (Alta) pastures. The Malga is located at a height of 2.050 m, at the outer limits of the vegetation growth.
Turn left and walk onwards for about 1 km on flat ground in order to reach Malga Fassa. To
return, take the forestry road down to the main road of Val Cercen, that will take you back to
the Fontanon picnic area in about 15 minutes. From here it will take about 20 minutes on foot
to reach the parking in Rabbi Fonti.
Leichter Weg - 4 Std. - Höhenunterschied 500 m
Mit dem Auto fährt man bis zum Parkplatz des Fontanon, weiter zu Fuß ungefähr 500 m bis zur
Brücke des Flußes Ragaiolo, die überquert wird, dann biegt man nach rechts ab auf die Straße
die sich mit der verbindet, die zur Monte Sole-Alm bringt. Man läuft auf dieser ungefähr eine
halbe Stunde bis zur unteren Monte Sole-Alm.
Läuft man weiter durch den Wald, kommt man am Weidenrand der oberen Monte Sole-Alm
in 2050 m Höhe, am Vegetationsrand. Von hier aus geht man links weiter auf einem ebenen
Weg für ungefähr einen Km bis zur Fassa-Alm.
Bei der Rückkehr schlägt man die Forststraße ein, die sich mit der Hauptstraße der Val Cercena
verbindet und von hier aus läuft man noch 15 Minuten zum Parkplatz des Fontanon.

Paths no. 124 and 125 - 4 hrs - easy, pleasant walking tour
From Peio Paese, follow the unpaved road up to the area known as Mezzoli. Continue until
you reach the provincial road, that will shortly take you to the Malga Frattasecca picnic area.
From here, follow the military road up to the Cadini waterfall. Continue walking eastwards to
Val Taviela, up to the Covel plain. The Covel Lake is an important biotope, especially protected
because of its palustrine plantlife. A path goes down from the lake to the Predafessa masi
(typical mountain farms), then borders woods and pastures down to the village (Peio Paese).
Weg Nr. 124 und 125 - 4 Std. leichter und angenehmer Spaziergang
Vom Dorf Peio läuft man über den Karrenweg, der zum Ortsteil Mezzoli bringt. Kommt man auf
die Landstraße, gelangt man nach kurzer Zeit zur Frattasecca-Alm (Picnick-Rastplatz). Von hier
aus folgt man der Militärstraße, die zum Cadini-Wasserfall bringt. Man wendet sich ostwärts
zum Val Taviela, bis zur Talmulde des Covel-Sees, ein bedeutendes Biotop, daß auf Grund der
vorhandenen Sumpfflora unter Umweltschutz steht. Vom See aus teilt sich der Weg, der zu den
Hütten von Predafessa führt, zwischen Wälder und Weiden, bis zum Dorf Peio.

Path no. 124 - 5 hrs - easy walking tour
The tour follows the track of an old military road built during the First World War. From the car
park near Malga Frattasecca, climb up the mule track winding through fir-tree, larch tree and
cembran pine woods up to the area called Pian della Vegaia, 1,900 m high.
The route continues on level ground, across rio Vegaia to Malga Giumella, at the far end of
Pra Palù.
Go down from Malga Giumella to the Fontanino of Cellentino (water spring), below the Pian
Palù dam, then follow the paved road running along the torrent Noce back to Malga Frattasecca.

Man folgt den Spuren der Militärstraße, die während des großen Krieges gebaut wurde. Von
der Frattasecca-Alm aus, wo in der Nähe ein Parkplatz liegt, läuft man den Saumpfad bis
in 1900 m Höhe entlang, durch den Tannen-, Lärchen- und Zirbenwald bis zum Pian della
Vegaia.
Weiter überquert man den Bach Vegaia und erreicht dann die Giumella-Alm, am Ende des Prà
Palù. Bei der Rückkehr zur Frattasecca-Alm steigt man von der Giumella-Alm hinab zum Fontanino von Celentino, talabwärts des Pian Palù-Damms und entlang des Fluß Noce

Adamello Brenta Nature Park / Naturpark
The Adamello Brenta Nature Park, which became part of the European and international network of Geoparks in June 2008, is the largest protected area of Trentino; it covers an area of
620,5 sqm including the Trentino part of the Adamello-Presanella mountain group to the west
and the entire Brenta mountain group to the east.
Its territory is characterized by a wide variety of remarkable landscapes and precious natural
sources. The Adamello-Presanella mountain group has a large amount of flowing water coming
from the glaciers, that forms striking waterfalls and numerous alpine lakes. The many mountain
peaks, such as the Presanella 3558 m, the Carè Alto 3463 m, Monte Fumo 3409 m, and the
Corno di Cavento 3406 m, all surround Val Genova, an amazing natural jewel.
The Brenta Dolomites, which became part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2009, have
a scenic and chromatic appearance that contrasts with the static grandeur of the glaciers and
peaks of the nearby Adamello. A series of fantastic peaks and stone towers characterize the
architecture of this mountain group that is at the heart of unforgettable climbing expeditions.
The Cima Tosa 3159 m, the Cima Brenta 3150 m, and the striking Campanile Basso stand
out among all of the peaks. Val di Tovel is the most well-known valley of this area, which covers
an area of 16 km, where you can also find the lake that bears the same name which is known
worldwide.
Der Naturpark Adamello-Brenta gehört seit Juni 2008 zum europäischem und internationalem
Netz der Geoparks und ist das größte unter Umweltschutz stehende Gebiet des Trentinos;
mit seiinen 620,5 km² im Westen beinhaltet es den Teil im Trentino der Adamello-PresanellaGruppe und im Osten die gesamte Brenta-Bergkette.Sein Gebiet zeichnet sich durch die vielfältige Landschaft aus und er besitzt aus naturalistischer Seite aus einen unermesslichen Wert.
Die Adamello-Presanella-Gruppe ist sehr reich an Gletscher-Gewässern, die beeindruckende
Wasserfälle und zahlreiche Gebirgsseen bilden. Die Gipfel, unter denen die Presanella (3558
m.), der Carè Alto (3463 m.), der Monte Fumo (3409 m.) und der Corno di Cavento (3406
m.) gehören, bilden die Krone um das Valle di Genova, ein authentisches naturalistiches Juwel.
Die Brenta-Dolomiten, die seit 2009 zum Welterbe der UNESCO gehören, bilden mit ihrem
bedeutendem Szenario der Berggipfel und der GLetscher um den nahen Adamello ein herrliches Landschaftsbild, geprägt von Gipfeln, Nadeln, Spitzen mit der phantastischen Architektur
der Dolomiten, die Ausgangspunkt von beachtsamen alpinistischen Besteigungen waren. Unter
den Gipfeln stechen vor alllem die Cima Tosa (3159 m.), die Cima Brenta (3150 m.) und der
eindrucksvolle Campanile Basso. Das bekannteste Tal des Gebietes ist das Val di Tovel, dass
sich auf 18 Km erstreckt und wo man den gleichnamigen See findet, der in der ganzen Welt
bekannt ist.

THE CHEESES
of the Val di Sole
Cheese is absolutely central to the
gastronomy of the Val di Sole. This
tasty mountain dairy product is
made and directly available from
different producers as well as from
the two main dairies in the valley:
“Cercen” in Terzolas and “Presanella” in Mezzana. Alongside the
flavoursome Trentingrana, local cooked cheeses ripened to different
degrees, are other outstanding varieties of Casolét, a traditional product of Val di Sole. Today, Casolét,
which is made with raw cow’s milk
and is a typical mountain Cacio,
a raw, soft, whole milk cheese, is
one of the true delights of dairy
produce in Trentino. Once it was
only made in the autumn, when the
herds had already been brought
down from the mountains and the
daily milking gave poor results.
Therefore, it is an authentic homemade cheese, mainly eaten
in families over the long winter
months. The name is Latin
in origin: it comes from “caseolus” meaning “small cheese” and
in fact the traditional cheeses are
about 7-12 cm high with a diameter of 10-22 cm, and they weigh
just around a kilo.
Between late August and early
September, a food and wine event
is organised in Val di Sole, dedicated mainly to Casolét,: two
weeks all about the typical flavours
of Trentino, with a particular focus on this local cheese, which is
protected with a typical designation of origin and is part of a
particular, tasty mountain
culture that needs to be
safeguarded.

verschiedenen Herstellern und
von den zwei Käsereien des Tals
- „Cercen“ in Terzolas und „Presanella“ in Mezzana - erzeugt und
direkt vertrieben. Neben dem
würzigen Trentingrana, den verschieden lang gereiften einheimischen Käsesorten und dem Ricotta
sind zweifellos die verschiedenen
Varianten des Casolét, dieses
traditionellen Produkts des Val di
Sole, nennenswert. Heute gilt der
aus Rohmilch erzeugte Casolét
- ein typischer VollmilchBergkäse mit weicher Masse - als
besondere
Spezialität
der Trentiner Käsereiproduktion.
Seinerzeit wurde er ausschließlich
im Herbst, nach dem Almabtrieb der Kühe erzeugt, zu einem
Zeitpunkt, zu dem sie wenig Milch
gaben. Genau deshalb war er
der Hauskäse par excellence, der
während der langen Wintermonate vorwiegend zum Familiengebrauch diente. Der vom Lateinischen „caseolus“ abstammende
Name, was soviel wie „kleiner
Käse“ bedeutet, weist auch auf
die traditionelle Form hin, die auch
heute noch einen Laibrand von
ungefähr 7-12 cm und 10-22 cm
Durchmesser mit einem Gesamtgewicht von einem knappen Kilo
hat. Ende August bis Anfang September findet im Val di Sole eine
zweiwöchige, kulinarische Veranstaltung statt, in der sich alles um
den Casolét dreht. Viele Trentiner
Köstlichkeiten werden mit diesem
typischen Käse verfeinert, der
als Erzeugnis einer besonderen
und schmackhaften Bergkultur geschützt wird.
